Hello everyone, this is Arata Tomori. Today we're doing our popular "Which one should you use?" series. I introduce a lot of cosmetics, so I often get asked "Which one is actually the best?" or "Which one should I use?", so I want to dig deep into these questions. Please watch until the end. First, we have two products: Minon Amino Moist Moist Charge Cream and Curel Pure Core Moisturizing Face Cream. Both are brands for sensitive skin, and both feel reassuring, but the prices aren't that different either. I think Curel is around 2,900 yen and Minon is around 2,500 yen. The difference isn't that big, and Curel is 40g and Minon is also 40g, so I get asked a lot "Which one is actually better?" So I'd like to explain that today. Minon is originally for sensitive skin, but the key point is that it includes amino acids, which are skin-building components, to promote skin regeneration. The amino acids are serine, alanine, glycine, PCA, and NA - these are skin-building components themselves, so by creating proper skin cells, the idea is to improve barrier function. The oils in this are really wonderful. The base oils are squalane and macadamia nut seed fatty acid phytosterol, which penetrate the skin very well but don't tend to cause acne. Especially this macadamia nut seed fatty acid phytosterol is found in Kanebo's famous Black Cream and became really trendy, so with these ingredients included, Minon is really good at plumping up the skin. On the other hand, with Curel, the key point is that it contains ceramides, which are essential for maintaining barrier function. It also contains eucalyptus extract, which supports the skin's ability to produce ceramides. It also contains allantoin, an anti-inflammatory ingredient that's good for wound repair. The base moisturizing ingredients are glycerin and olive squalane, which are oils, but the most abundant ingredient is ceramides. So rather than moisturizing with oils, the idea is to properly establish barrier function with ceramides. So practically speaking, how should you use each one? If you have sensitive skin that's prone to irritation and itching, I'd recommend Curel's face cream. On the other hand, if you have sensitive skin but also want firmness and radiance, Minon might be good. For extremely sensitive skin, Curel; for sensitive skin plus wanting that extra shine and radiance, Minon would be better. As a side note, this Minon cream contains macadamia nut seed fatty acid phytosterol, so it became trending because people said it was very similar to Kanebo's Black Cream. But there's another product that became trending for being similar to Black Cream: Excel's Disc Kin Comfort. While this is the closest, there's another similar one, kind of thing. Honestly, this Excel cream is a really great cream. But I don't think it's that similar to Black Cream actually. The Comfort Cream is a daily cream with SPF 32 and PA++ included, which might be why it seems similar. But it doesn't actually contain macadamia nut seed fatty acid phytosterol - it contains quite a bit of phytoceramides. So that might be the main moisturizing ingredient, and the base oils aren't that similar to Black Cream. What's good about this is that it contains APPS, a vitamin C derivative, which increases collagen and elastin in the skin. And I think there's also some retinol included, though probably a small amount. And it definitely contains ceramides, so it's completely different from Black Cream. The similarity might just be that it contains SPF, but the contents are completely different. Black Cream softens the skin and gives radiance, but this one has active ingredients and is more like a serum-type cream. For this price point to have APPS, retinol, and four types of phytoceramides is really wonderful, but I don't think you should use it thinking it's like Black Cream. One more side note: I honestly think SPF in creams is meaningless. Cream spreads so thinly on the skin, and as I've said many times, SPF refers to how much sun protection you get when 2 milligrams of sunscreen per square centimeter is applied. If you apply it thinly, it doesn't really work. So no matter how much SPF is in the cream, I don't think it's working as advertised. So please don't skip sunscreen just because you applied cream with SPF. Sorry, I got sidetracked. Next, we have Melano CC Medicated Concentrated Anti-Spot Essence and Moisture Mild White Repair Essence C100. Both have similar tube packaging and are vitamin C essences at affordable prices. Melano CC is a bit more expensive, but they're both vitamin C - how do they differ? First, Melano CC is from Rohto Pharmaceutical and contains pure vitamin C as the main ingredient. It uses a manufacturing method to ensure pure vitamin C gets to the skin without breaking down, so I think Melano CC is better for pure vitamin C. It's also hard to dispense, coming out drop by drop very carefully. I think it's designed so air doesn't get inside in the first place. Besides ascorbic acid, it also contains vitamin B6 and allantoin for inflammation. Vitamin B6 reduces sebum. It also contains isopropylmethylphenol, which is antibacterial against acne-causing bacteria. In comparison, Moisture Mild White Repair Essence is a vitamin C derivative. It contains L-ascorbic acid and glucoside, a water-soluble vitamin C derivative. Combined with that are tranexamic acid and dipotassium glycyrrhizinate, which are anti-inflammatory. Comparing them, Melano CC is labeled as a stain-fighting essence, but I think it's for people with post-acne redness and such. Since it contains antibacterial ingredients, rather than for sensitive skin types, I think it's really good for people concerned about pores with excess oil who occasionally get acne. On the other hand, Moisture Mild White Repair Essence has strong anti-inflammatory properties. For sensitive skin people, L-ascorbic acid and glucoside are less irritating than pure vitamin C. In that sense too, it's really good for sensitive skin people who want to try vitamin C. Pure vitamin C is amazing for oily skin types. It's irritating, but for oily skin people, it helps stop sebum, and since there's already oil, pure vitamin C isn't very irritating, so this is for oily to normal skin. With the same vitamin C, the vitamin C derivatives L-ascorbic acid and glucoside are said to be relatively less irritating vitamin Cs, so for sensitive skin people who want to use vitamin C, this would be it. Next, we have Pola BA Eye Zone Cream and Epistem Stem Science Eye. I've done deep dives on both. Both approach the orbicularis oculi muscle, so I get asked a lot by people concerned about eye opening or under-eye thinness which is better, so I want to properly explain that today. First, with BA Eye Cream, particularly the orbicularis oculi muscle under the eye - there's orbital fat underneath it that comes out. So what's suppressing the puffiness under the eye is the orbicularis oculi muscle. When the orbicularis oculi muscle thins out, the puffiness under the eye becomes concerning, and dark circles appear. When I looked for something to increase the muscle fibers of the orbicularis oculi, kuwanomi extract was something that increases those muscle fibers, and this is what Pola's BA Eye Zone Cream was created with. So for people concerned about puffiness under the eyes, I think BA Eye Zone Cream is good. In contrast, Epistem Stem Science Eye - this is also the orbicularis oculi muscle. But it approaches the stem cells of the muscle fibers to improve muscle movement. It's more about eye opening and sunken appearance. For people concerned more about eye hollowness in addition to under-eye concerns, I think Epistem Stem Science Eye would be better. This one contains kuwanomi extract. I think it's a complex of tea leaf extract and soy seed extract, both containing proprietary ingredients, but for eye opening and upper eyelid hollowness, I prefer Epistem. For people concerned about under-eye puffiness, under-eye thinness, or dark circles, this one. Both approach similarly, but if I had to differentiate, it would be like that. So today we did another "Which one should you use?" series. Were there any questions you had? If you'd like us to do more comparisons, please write in the comments. See you in the next video. Goodbye. Please subscribe to the channel.
