まつ毛が伸びる？まつ毛美容液とは / Do eyelashes grow? What is eyelash serum?

皆さんこんにちは、内科皮膚科医の友利新です。 今日は動画のコメント欄にもすごく多くあった質問でもある、まつ毛美容液についてお話ししようと思います。 最近、ナチュラルメイクが流行っているんですかね。一時期すごく皆さんエクステをつけていたと思うんですけれども、最近はエクステじゃなくて、自分のまつ毛を長くして、それでアイメイクを楽しみたいという方が増えてきているので、いろいろなメーカーさんからまつ毛美容液が出ていますよね。なので、今日はそんなまつ毛美容液についてご説明したいと思います。 皆さん、そもそもまつ毛ってだいたいどれくらい入っていると思いますか？もちろん個人差はあるんですけれども、だいたい平均すると、上まつ毛で100本から150本くらい、下まつ毛で70本から80本くらいと言われているんですよ。長さなんですけれども、上がだいたい8ミリから12ミリくらい、下が7から8ミリくらいと言われています。ただ、これはあくまでも個人差があるので、私そんなに長くないし、そんなに濃くないしと思う方もいらっしゃって、中には漫画みたいな盛れているまつ毛の方もいますよね。これは本当に神様からのプレゼントだと思ってください。 それを置いておいて、どうやったらまつ毛が伸びますかということですよね。よく言われるのが、どのまつ毛美容液を使ったら、先生まつ毛が生えているみたいにふさふさのまつ毛になりますか？というふうに言われるんですが、これはごめんなさい、まつ毛美容液ではまつ毛は伸びません。 そうなんですよ。最初からネガティブな感じで申し訳ないんですけれども、まつ毛美容液ってそもそも化粧品じゃないですか。美白の誤解の回でも言ったんですけれども、化粧品で何かを消すとか、例えばシミを消すとか、何かの毛が生えてくるとか、そういった効果は基本的には得られなくて、やはり肌を健やかに保ったりとか、あとはシミができるのを予防するとかっていうものなんですね。なので何か効果があってはいけないのが化粧品なんですよ、残念ながら。だから効果が期待できる成分を入れるということは可能だし、研究でそういったものがあるような成分を入れるのはいいんですけれども、化粧品にこれに絶対効きますっていうことは言ってはいけないし、そういう成分は入れられないのが現状です。 ということから言うと、まつ毛美容液もですね、まつ毛が伸びる成分というものを入れては逆にいけないんですよ。なので、じゃあまつ毛美容液って何してるんですかっていうと、スキンケアもそうで、毎日やっぱり私はお化粧したりとか、特にお顔とか皮脂とか汚れが出るじゃないですか。だからしっかり汚れを落として、栄養を与えてあげて健やかに保つっていうのがスキンケアの基本で、まつ毛美容液もそれは同じなんですね。 皆さんがアイメイクをして、例えばマスカラをたっぷり塗ったりとか、あとはビューラーとかですごく酷使していて、まつ毛自体が弱ってしまうところに、だいたいまつ毛美容液っていうのは入ってるのが、ペプチドと呼ばれるタンパク質だったり、コラーゲンだったりとか、あとはいろんな美容成分が入っているんですけども、基本的にはまつ毛を健康にする。健康にするので、それで抜け落ちにくくなって、それで元気にまつ毛がしっかりと長くなるというよりは、抜けるのを防いでくれるとか、まつ毛自体を元気にしてくれるというようなイメージのものが多いです。 なので、どういった観点から選べばいいですかっていうと、やはり自分が使ってみて、これちょっといいなと思うようなものが一番、ほんとこれってざっくりしてて本当に申し訳ないんですが、結構私もいろいろ美容液見たんですが、特徴的に何かが入っているっていうよりは、さっき言ったペプチドだとか、ヒアルロン酸とかっていうものなので、逆にそういったものを日々使うことで、まつ毛自身が元気になって、それで抜けにくくなる。アイメイクで酷使していても抜けにくくなるっていうような意味合いで、あとはご自身のお財布と相談をして、美容液は選んでいただきたいなと思うんですよ。 じゃあですよ、本当に伸ばしたいときってどうしたらいいですか？というか、先生はどうしてるんですか？って聞かれる方多いんですが、もちろんまつ毛を伸ばす成分っていうものはあります。それがビマトプロストという成分になるんですね。このビマトプロストっていうのはプロスタグランジン系という薬剤の一つになるんですが、これがまつ毛の毛根に刺激をして、基本的に毛っていうのは成長期といって長く太くなる時期があって、それが細くなって抜けていくっていうものがあるので、この成長期が長くなればなるほど毛も長くなるんですよ。なのでこのビマトプロストっていうのは毛根に働きかけて、まつ毛の成長期を長くしてくれるんですね。なので抜け落ちにくくなって、長くそして太くしてくれるという成分になります。 このまつ毛を伸ばしてくれるビマトプロストというのは、実は化粧品ではなくて医薬品に入っています。そう、お医者さんの処方箋がないと買えない医薬品に入っているんですよ。だからこそ必ず伸びるっていうふうに私は言えるんですね。実際私自身もこのビマトプロストが入っている薬品を使って、まつ毛をまつ育しています。 基本的にこのお薬は保険では買えません。自費診療、自由診療で買えるお薬になります。どういう病名がつくかというと、まつ毛貧毛症。そうなんですよ。まつ毛が少ない病気って言って、まつ毛貧毛症というふうに言うんですけども、その病名をつけて自費でお薬を購入することができます。美容皮膚科だったり皮膚科、眼科さんで取り扱っていることが多いです。 うちのクリニックでも使っているんですが、これがこれになります。グラッシュビスタ外用液0.03%っていうものになるんですが、これすごく大きいじゃないですか。これが日本でまつ毛貧毛症に認可されている薬剤。このビマトプロストが0.03%入っているっていう薬剤になるんですね。 もう一つよく聞くのが、これがちょっと小さくて見づらいかもしれないですが、これです。これがルミガンという点眼剤になります。これもビマトプロストが入っていて、まつ毛が伸びるという点眼剤になります。 この2つの違いは何かというと、実はこのグラッシュビスタというのは、日本でちゃんとまつ毛貧毛症というもので認可が下りているので、薬は同じようにこれぐらい、だから同じぐらいの量なんですが、なんでこんな大きな箱に入っているかというと、専用の刷毛が付いています。こういう感じの毛なんですね。この専用のアプリケーターに薬剤をちょっとつけて、まつ毛のキワに本当に塗っていく。皮膚とかにつかないようにまつ毛のキワに塗っていくアプリケーターが付いているか付いていないかという差になります。 このグラッシュビスタにはアプリケーターが140本付いています。なので1日1回になりますから、140日分このアプリケーターが入っている分、ちょっとお値段が高くなってしまいます。ただこのルミガンも同じように伸びるという効果的には一緒で、実はこのルミガンというのは保険では緑内障のお薬なんですね。でも緑内障じゃない人が処方するためにはもちろん自費になります。なのでこれを保険診療でもらってはいけないし、それをお医者さんが保険診療で出すことはありえません。まつ毛を伸ばしたいという方は美容皮膚科とかそういったところで自費診療で買うようにしてください。 ここまでまつ毛をどうしても伸ばしたいという方はこういったルミガンだったり、あとはこのグラッシュビスタなんですが、これ薬なので副作用もあるんです。お薬ってやっぱり効果がある代わりに副作用って必ずあって、このルミガンもグラッシュビスタも同じように副作用があって、どういったものかというとまず一つ一番大きなものが色素沈着というものになります。 これさっき私、目のまつ毛の際に塗ってくださいって言いましたよね。これなぜかというと、例えばまぶたについてしまったり、もちろん下まぶたにつくと、そこに茶色っぽい色素沈着が起こってくるんですよ。なので目の周りが黒くなってしまうんですね。なのでこのグラッシュビスタにはそういったことを防ぐように、ちゃんとまつ毛の際に塗れるように専用のアプリケーターがついているというわけなんですよ。 ルミガンを購入して処方してもらってやる場合も、点眼剤だからといってバシャバシャ塗ってしまうと目の周りが結構本当に黒ずむので、それでもうやめましょうっていう方、患者さん多くなりますから、必ずこういったアプリケーターのようなものを自分で購入して、まつ毛の際にしか塗らないようにしましょう。 もう一つはやっぱりお薬なので目にちょっと刺激があって目が充血したりとか、あと日本人には少ないんですけど、このまぶたがちょっと落ちくぼむような、ちょっとくぼんでしまうっていうようなことも海外では症例報告があります。やっぱりどうしても作用を求めるとこういった副作用があるので、化粧品にはこのプロスタグランジン系のビマトプロストっていうものが入っているものはないんですが、実は一部海外の製品で、以前このビマトプロストに似たようなプロスタグランジン系の似たような薬剤とまではいかない、そういった成分が入ったものが海外では出回ったときがあるんですね。でも同じようなものだから、確かに伸びる効果はあると思うんですけれども、やはり薬剤と同じような副作用があったりして、結構問題になっていました。なので海外製品、今はあんまりないとは思うんですけど、それで目の周り黒くなったよとか、そういった報告があるような化粧品はなるべく使わないように。どうしても絶対に伸ばしたいっていう場合は、クリニックでしっかりと副作用も説明を受けた上で、医師の診察のもとで治療薬を購入するようにしてください。 まつ毛の長さって目の印象を本当に変えますよね。私自身沖縄出身なので毛は濃いんですが、なぜだかまつ毛だけはそんなに濃くなくて、ずっとまつ毛のエクステをつけていたんですが、40を過ぎるとまつ毛エクステもちょっと痛いなと思って、ここ1、2年グラッシュビスタとルミガンを使って追加しています。これは1日1回なので、朝か夜どちらかに使って、私自身はまつ毛美容液も使っています。これを先ほどお話ししたように、アイメイクで酷使したものをスキンケアの一環としてケアするという意味でまつ毛美容液も使っていますので、皆さんも伸ばしたいというのだったら治療薬、ケアをしたいんだったらまつ毛美容液というふうにしっかりと使い分けてみてくださいね。 いかがでしたか？このチャンネルではこのように美容や健康について皆さんになるべくわかりやすく解説していますので、よかったらチャンネル登録お願いします。あと、こんなもの取り上げてほしいよとか、これの解説してほしいというものがもしありましたらコメント欄にいただけると嬉しいです。ではまた次の動画でお会いしましょう。さようなら。 【チャンネル登録よろしくお願いします】

Hello everyone, I'm Arata Tomori, an internal medicine and dermatologist doctor. Today I'd like to talk about eyelash serums, which was a very common question in the comments section of my videos. Natural makeup seems to be trending these days. I think many people were wearing eyelash extensions at one point, but recently more people want to make their own eyelashes longer instead of using extensions, so they can enjoy eye makeup that way. As a result, various manufacturers are releasing eyelash serums. So today, I'd like to explain about these eyelash serums. First, how many eyelashes do you think we have? Of course there are individual differences, but on average, it's said to be about 100 to 150 lashes on the upper eyelid and 70 to 80 on the lower eyelid. As for length, the upper lashes are typically 8 to 12mm, and the lower ones are 7 to 8mm. However, this is just an average with individual variation, so some people may feel their lashes aren't that long or thick. There are also people with dramatically long, manga-like lashes—consider that a gift from God. Setting that aside, let's talk about how to make eyelashes grow. I'm often asked which eyelash serum will make lashes as full and lush as if they were "growing" like in comics. Unfortunately, eyelash serums cannot make eyelashes grow. I'm sorry to start on such a negative note, but eyelash serums are cosmetics, after all. As I mentioned in the episode about whitening misconceptions, cosmetics generally cannot achieve effects like removing spots or making hair grow—these effects simply aren't obtainable from cosmetics. What cosmetics can do is keep the skin healthy or prevent spots from forming. Unfortunately, it's actually against regulations for cosmetics to have such active effects. So while it's possible to include ingredients expected to have some effect, and it's fine to include ingredients supported by research, cosmetics cannot claim "this definitely works," and such potent ingredients cannot be included. Following this logic, eyelash serums also cannot contain ingredients that make eyelashes grow. So what do eyelash serums actually do? It's similar to skincare—every day we wear makeup, and especially on the face, oil and dirt accumulate. So thoroughly removing dirt, providing nourishment, and maintaining health is the basis of skincare, and it's the same with eyelash serums. When you do eye makeup—for example, applying lots of mascara or using an eyelash curler excessively—your eyelashes can become weakened. Eyelash serums typically contain proteins called peptides, collagen, and various other beauty ingredients, but basically their purpose is to keep eyelashes healthy. By keeping them healthy, they become less likely to fall out. Rather than dramatically making eyelashes grow longer, the main image is of preventing lashes from falling out and keeping the eyelashes themselves healthy. So from what perspective should you choose one? Honestly, I think the best approach—and I'm sorry this sounds vague—is to try one and see if you feel it works well for you. I've looked at many different serums, and rather than having some特別 standout ingredient, they mostly contain things like peptides and hyaluronic acid, as I mentioned. By using these consistently, your eyelashes themselves become healthier and less prone to falling out—even with the strain of eye makeup. So I'd recommend choosing a serum based on that idea, along with your budget. Now, what if you really want your lashes to grow longer? Many people ask me what I personally do. Of course there is an actual ingredient that makes eyelashes grow—it's called Bimatoprost. This is one of the drugs in the prostaglandin family. It stimulates the eyelash hair follicles. Hair generally goes through a growth phase where it becomes longer and thicker, followed by a phase where it thins and falls out. The longer this growth phase lasts, the longer the hair becomes. Bimatoprost acts on the hair follicles to extend the growth phase of eyelashes. This makes them less likely to fall out, and helps them grow longer and thicker. This ingredient that makes eyelashes grow, Bimatoprost, is actually not found in cosmetics but in pharmaceutical drugs. That's right, it's a prescription medication that requires a doctor's prescription to purchase. That's exactly why I can confidently say it will make lashes grow. In fact, I myself use a medication containing Bimatoprost for my own eyelash growth care. This medication is basically not covered by insurance. It's available through self-pay, out-of-pocket treatment. The diagnosis given is "eyelash hypotrichosis"—yes, that's the medical term for having sparse eyelashes, called eyelash hypotrichosis. With this diagnosis, you can purchase the medication out-of-pocket. It's often available at cosmetic dermatology clinics, dermatology clinics, and ophthalmology clinics. We also use this at our clinic—here it is. This is called Grashvista topical solution 0.03%. It's quite large, isn't it? This is the medication approved in Japan for eyelash hypotrichosis, containing 0.03% Bimatoprost. Another one commonly mentioned—this might be a bit small and hard to see, but here it is. This is an eye drop called Lumigan. This also contains Bimatoprost and is an eye drop that makes eyelashes grow. What's the difference between these two? Actually, Grashvista is properly approved in Japan specifically for eyelash hypotrichosis. The medication itself comes in a similar amount, but the reason it comes in such a large box is that it includes a dedicated brush applicator. It looks like this—a brush. You use this special applicator to apply a small amount of the medication right along the lash line. Whether or not it includes an applicator to apply along the lash line without touching the skin is the difference between the two. This Grashvista comes with 140 applicators. Since it's used once a day, having 140 days' worth of applicators included makes it somewhat more expensive. However, Lumigan has the same effect in terms of growth. Actually, Lumigan is covered by insurance as a glaucoma medication. But for someone who doesn't have glaucoma, prescribing it requires out-of-pocket payment. So you should never receive this through insurance, and no doctor should prescribe it through insurance for this purpose. If you want to grow your eyelashes, please purchase it out-of-pocket at a cosmetic dermatology clinic or similar facility. For those who really want to grow their eyelashes using Lumigan or Grashvista, keep in mind these are medications, so they do have side effects. Medications that are effective always come with potential side effects, and both Lumigan and Grashvista share similar side effects. One of the biggest is hyperpigmentation. I mentioned earlier that you should apply it right along the lash line—here's why. If it gets on your eyelid, or especially on the lower eyelid, it can cause brownish pigmentation there, making the skin around your eyes appear darker. That's why Grashvista comes with a dedicated applicator to prevent this, allowing precise application right along the lash line. Even when using Lumigan as eye drops, if you apply it carelessly and it gets everywhere, the area around your eyes can become quite noticeably darker. This leads many patients to want to stop treatment. So make sure to purchase an applicator yourself and apply the medication only along the lash line. Another side effect is that, being a medication, it can cause some eye irritation or redness. Also, though rare among Japanese people, there have been case reports overseas of the eyelids becoming somewhat sunken or hollow. Ultimately, pursuing these effects comes with such side effects. While cosmetics don't contain this prostaglandin-based Bimatoprost, there was a time when some overseas products contained similar—though not identical—prostaglandin-based compounds. Since they're similar substances, they likely did have some growth effect, but they also came with similar side effects as the medication, causing quite a few problems. So while such products aren't common now, please avoid cosmetics from overseas with reports of causing dark circles or similar issues around the eyes. If you absolutely want to make your lashes grow, please make sure to get a thorough explanation of side effects at a clinic and purchase the treatment under a doctor's supervision. The length of your eyelashes really does change the impression of your eyes, doesn't it? I'm from Okinawa myself, so my hair is generally thick, but for some reason my eyelashes were never that thick. I used to always wear eyelash extensions, but once I passed 40, extensions started to feel a bit harsh on my lashes. So for the past year or two, I've been using Grashvista and Lumigan in addition. Since it's used once a day, I apply it either in the morning or at night, and I also use an eyelash serum myself. As I mentioned earlier, I use the eyelash serum as part of my skincare routine to care for lashes that have been strained by eye makeup. So, if you want to grow your lashes, use a treatment medication; if you want to care for them, use an eyelash serum—please try to use them properly according to your needs. How was this video?
