リニューアルした雪肌精の成分について解説します。

皆さんこんにちは、内科・皮膚科医の智原です。今日はですね、皆さん誰でも知っている、ドラッグストアに必ず売っていて、1回は使ったことがあるという方も多いと思う「雪肌精」がリニューアルしたということで、そのリニューアル後の成分を解析したいと思います。 雪肌精といえば、あの青いボトルでもう本当にドラッグストアに必ずありますよね。実はこれ、35周年らしいですね。1985年に化粧水を1本出したことが発売のスタートになるみたいです。もともとは1本の化粧水から始めて、当時は珍しかった和漢エキスという植物エキスを入れて、肌の透明感を出していくという思いを込めて「雪肌精」、雪のような肌という意味で「雪肌精」という名前をつけたらしいです。これは日本人だけじゃなくて海外の方にも結構人気で、今はちょっと旅行者の方が減っていますけれども、昔はドラッグストアの前でこの雪肌精を買う外国の方がすごく多くいました。そのため一時期、パクリ品と言ったらあれですが、似たようなパッケージの「石なんとか」とか「雪なんとか」「なんとか肌」といった類似商品がたくさん出たんですね。 35年ものロングセラーで皆さんに愛されてきた雪肌精が、今回また成分を一新してリニューアルしています。大きく分けて2タイプ出ていて、一つが白いパッケージのタイプ、そして今までの容器の色と似ている青いタイプになります。私はそれぞれ、白いタイプは化粧水を、青いタイプは乳液を購入しました。 なぜ化粧水と乳液を買ったのか、またそれぞれのタイプの違いについてお話しします。ざっくり分けると、青の方がより積極的に有効成分が入っているもので、白の方はどちらかというとフリータイプ、つまり低刺激の処方で敏感肌の人でも透明感を出せるというものです。透明感というのは雪肌精のそもそものコンセプトなので、どちらも透明感を出したいという点は変わりありませんが、青いタイプはより有効成分をしっかり入れていて、白いタイプは有効成分ももちろん入っているけれどもさまざまなものをフリーにして、敏感肌でも使いやすくなっています。 両タイプに共通する新成分が入っています。それが「イトワ」と呼ばれる成分です。そもそも雪肌精は、皮膚のキメを整えることで肌の透明感を出していくという考え方を持っています。キメが整っている肌というのは光の透過性が高まり、透明感がアップするというわけです。 キメが整うということを具体的に言うと、角質細胞の大きさがそれぞれ均一に整っていること、そして細胞と細胞の間にある細胞間脂質がしっかりとあって細胞同士がしっかりとくっついた、バリア機能がきちんと機能している状態のことです。キメを整えるためには、角質細胞はもちろん、角質細胞間の水分量もアップさせて、バリア機能を強化することによって肌の透明感を出していきましょうということなんですね。 ここで「イトワ」という成分が登場します。この独自成分イトワは、ゲットウ葉エキス・シャクヤク花エキス・ノニ果汁・グリセリンの複合体による独自処方のものになります。これが透明感をもたらすために3つのアプローチから働きかけます。 まず少し難しい話になりますが、角質を構成する角層の細胞には、細胞の外側に膜があり、これをコーニファイドエンベロープ（略してCE）と呼びます。このCEがしっかりしていると、膜がきちんとあるので角質細胞の形がしっかりと整います。 もう一つが、角質細胞同士がしっかりとくっつく「タイトジャンクション」です。タイトジャンクションがしっかりと機能していることで、内側の水分が出ていくのを防ぎます。 もう一つは、細胞間脂質、いわゆるラメラ構造です。水分・油分・水分という層状の細胞間脂質のラメラ構造がしっかりとあることで、角質の水分量がアップし、透明感が増します。 イトワはまず、先ほど説明したCEの成熟を促進して、細胞の形を一つ一つ整えます。次に、細胞間脂質の重要な成分であるセラミドの生成を促進します。そしてタイトジャンクションを構成するタンパク質の合成を促進し、タイトジャンクションを強化します。この3つのアプローチで角質のバリア機能を強化し、水分をしっかりと保持することで、キメが綺麗に見えて、内側から発光するような透明感を生み出すということです。 このイトワは白いタイプにも青いタイプにも両方入っています。私がなぜ白いタイプは化粧水を、青いタイプは乳液を買ったかというと、実はこの乳液にはさらにすごい処方がなされているんです。それが「クラリティブースト成分」と呼ばれるものです。 このクラリティブースト成分は、梅果汁エキスと加水分解コメ胚芽エキスを独自にブレンドしたものになっています。何がすごいかというと、人間は当然皮脂が出ますよね。皮脂が出ると、お肌の上で酸化してしまいます。この酸化した皮脂が肌の上にあることで、肌がくすんでしまうんですね。そこで、この肌の皮脂酸化を抑えるのがクラリティブースト成分の働きです。 私自身は少し脂性肌になりがちなので、皮脂の酸化はすごく気になっています。乗せる油分もとても気になるので、この乳液タイプを朝しっかりと使うことで、日中に皮脂が出てしまっても、イトワ成分がバリア機能を高めて水分維持能力を高めてくれる上に、皮脂が肌の表面で酸化するのも抑えてくれます。そのおかげで夕方の気になるくすみが出にくくなるんじゃないかと思いました。なので青のタイプはあえて皮脂の酸化を防ぐという意味から乳液を選びました。 白いタイプに化粧水を選んだ理由は、こちらの方が低刺激性だからです。青いタイプにはアルコール（エタノール）が入っていて、エタノールに刺激を感じる方にはあまりお勧めできませんが、白いタイプはアルコールフリーです。パラベンフリーや香料フリーというのは、正直私はそこまで絶対的に必要だとは思っていません。パラベンはそれほど肌に悪いものだというイメージは私にはないですし、香料も昔は精製が良くないものもありましたが、今はどこでもしっかりと精製されていてそれほど肌への悪影響はないと思っています。ただ、そういったものが気になるという方には白いタイプが良いかと思います。 今はマスクで肌が荒れやすく敏感になっている方には白いタイプが向いていますし、イトワ成分もしっかり入っていて水分を補いながら透明感をアップさせてくれます。刺激の少ない化粧水タイプとして、私は白の方を選びました。 雪肌精は本当にどんなドラッグストアにも置いてあって、世界中から愛されているブランドですが、今回は雪肌精ならではの透明感アップの仕組みが分かるような有効成分がしっかりと配合されていて、使うのもちょっとワクワクするかなと思います。また、成分には関係ないのですが、外箱がダンボール製になっていて、回収してリサイクルできるようになっているのも、環境に配慮している点として嬉しいポイントだと思いました。 いかがでしたか？このチャンネルでは美容・健康・コスメについて分かりやすく解説しています。よかったらチャンネル登録をお願いします。また、取り上げてほしいアイテムや解説してほしいテーマがあれば、コメント欄に書いていただけると嬉しいです。では、また次の動画でお会いしましょう。さようなら。

Hello everyone, I'm Dr. Tomohara, a physician specializing in internal medicine and dermatology. Today I'd like to analyze the updated ingredients of KOSE Sekkisei, a product that everyone knows and that you can always find at any drugstore—many of you have probably used it at least once. Sekkisei is famous for its iconic blue bottle and is a permanent fixture at every drugstore. It's apparently celebrating its 35th anniversary, having launched with a single lotion in 1985. The brand started with just that one lotion, incorporating what were then rare botanical extracts—known as Wakansō (traditional Japanese and Chinese plant extracts)—to bring luminosity to the skin. The name "Sekkisei" (雪肌精) means "snow-like skin," reflecting that original vision. It's popular not only in Japan but worldwide; in the past, you'd often see tourists lining up outside drugstores just to buy Sekkisei. Its popularity even spawned a wave of copycat products with similar packaging and names containing words like "snow" or "skin." Now, after 35 years as a beloved bestseller, Sekkisei has relaunched with updated formulations. The new lineup comes in two main types: a white-packaged version and a blue-packaged version similar in color to the original bottle. I personally purchased the lotion (toner) from the white line and the emulsion (milk) from the blue line. Let me explain why I chose those specific products and how the two types differ. Simply put, the blue line contains a more active concentration of key ingredients, while the white line is a gentler, free-from formulation suitable for sensitive skin. Both lines share Sekkisei's core mission of delivering skin luminosity—but the blue line is more ingredient-intensive, while the white line removes certain potential irritants to be more sensitive-skin friendly. Both lines share a new common ingredient called "Itowa." Sekkisei's fundamental approach to luminosity is through refining the skin's texture. Well-refined skin texture improves the skin's light transmittance, resulting in a more luminous appearance. In concrete terms, refined skin texture means uniform, well-shaped corneocyte (skin cell) sizes, a robust intercellular lipid matrix (the substance between cells) keeping cells tightly bound together, and a strong skin barrier—all of which together constitute what we mean by "refined texture." To achieve this, it's important to boost moisture levels between corneocytes and strengthen the barrier function, which is what leads to skin luminosity. This is where "Itowa" comes in. Itowa is a proprietary complex composed of Alpinia leaf extract, peony flower extract, noni juice, and glycerin. It approaches skin luminosity via three mechanisms. First, a slightly technical point: the outermost layer of skin cells has a surrounding membrane called the Cornified Envelope (CE). When the CE is robust and well-formed, it maintains the proper shape of each corneocyte, resulting in more uniform skin texture. Second, adjacent corneocytes are held together by structures called tight junctions. Healthy tight junctions prevent moisture from escaping the skin. Third, the intercellular lipid matrix—also known as the lamellar structure—consists of alternating layers of water and lipids. A well-organized lamellar structure boosts and retains moisture within the skin, further enhancing luminosity. Itowa addresses all three of these mechanisms: it promotes CE maturation (improving the shape and uniformity of individual skin cells), stimulates ceramide production (a key component of the intercellular lipid matrix), and enhances the synthesis of tight junction proteins (strengthening cell-to-cell adhesion). By reinforcing the skin's barrier function through these three pathways, Itowa helps the skin retain moisture, refine texture, and produce that characteristic glow-from-within luminosity. Itowa is included in both the white and blue lines. My reason for choosing the lotion from the white line and the emulsion from the blue line comes down to an additional standout formulation in the blue line's emulsion. That formulation is called the "Clarity Boost" ingredient. The Clarity Boost ingredient is a proprietary blend of plum juice extract and hydrolyzed rice germ extract. Here's why it's impressive: as we all know, our skin naturally produces sebum (oil). That sebum oxidizes on the skin's surface, and oxidized sebum is a key culprit behind skin dullness. The Clarity Boost ingredient works to suppress this sebum oxidation on the skin's surface. I personally tend toward oily skin, so sebum oxidation is a real concern for me. Since I'm conscious about the oils I apply to my face, I found it compelling to use an emulsion in the morning that not only delivers Itowa's barrier-strengthening and moisture-retaining benefits throughout the day but also prevents any sebum that does surface from oxidizing. This should help prevent that end-of-day dullness I tend to notice. That's why I specifically chose the emulsion from the blue line. As for why I chose the lotion from the white line—it comes down to its lower-irritation formulation. The blue line contains alcohol (ethanol), which may be irritating for some people. The white line, on the other hand, is alcohol-free. It's also paraben-free and fragrance-free, though I personally don't feel these are strictly necessary. I don't have a particularly negative view of parabens, and modern fragrance ingredients are generally well-refined and unlikely to cause skin issues. That said, for those who prefer to avoid these ingredients, the white line is a great choice. In particular, with so many people currently experiencing mask-related skin sensitivity and irritation, the white line's gentle formulation would be well suited. It still contains Itowa to boost moisture and deliver luminosity—I chose it as a low-irritation toner. Sekkisei is truly a brand that's available at every drugstore and is loved around the world. This reformulation now includes ingredients that clearly explain the science behind Sekkisei's signature luminosity, which makes it even more exciting to use. One more thing I appreciated, unrelated to the ingredients: the outer packaging is now made from cardboard that can be collected and recycled—a thoughtful touch that reflects the brand's commitment to environmental sustainability.
