Hello everyone, this is Arata Tomori. Today I'd like to introduce two soaps recommended for summer—for those who want to thoroughly wash away pore issues and acne concerns. Recently, face wash foams and cleansers have become quite popular, but I think there are still quite a few people who prefer traditional soap bars. While not as many manufacturers make soap bars nowadays, precisely because the popularity is somewhat limited, the soaps that have been around for a long time and remain popular have real merit. I believe soap is an item that's especially worth using during the summer, so I'd like to explain why, along with introducing two recommended soaps. Please watch until the end. First, why should you use soap in the summer? When people hear "soap," they generally have an image of it being "gentle on the skin." That's not wrong, but actually, the ingredients that make up soap are cleansing agents well-suited for thoroughly removing dirt and sebum. Even among soaps, there are variations depending on the combination of ingredients, but the base ingredients that make up soap are fairly fixed—manufacturers adjust the amounts of certain components, but the fundamental ingredients remain the same. Compared to amino acid-based cleansers, for example, soap removes sebum quite effectively. So people with dry or sensitive skin may need to be careful, but in summer, there's more sebum and more sweat-related dirt, and when this is exposed to UV rays, it oxidizes and can further negatively affect the skin. So, of course this applies to people with oily skin, but I think it's good for everyone to choose items in summer that help remove sebum and sweat-related dirt to some degree. For those who find that soap dries out their skin, one solution is to use soaps formulated with various ingredients to mitigate this dryness, and it's also fine to use it specifically during summer when needed. With that in mind, here are two soaps I recommend for those concerned about pores and acne in summer: Ishizawa Laboratories' Essence Soap, and Dr.K's Clear Soap. If you look inside, this one is from Ishizawa Laboratories, and this one is Dr.K—can you tell the difference in color? This one is black, and this one is orange. There's actually a point behind these colors. Let's start with the Ishizawa Laboratories soap. This soap has been popular for quite a while. If you've seen it before but the name seems different, that's because it used to be sold under a brand like "Crystal Clear Skin," and now it's being released under Ishizawa Laboratories. So this is essentially a renewed version of that black soap. When it was discontinued, quite a few people said things like "that black soap disappeared," showing it had many devoted users—so it's been reborn under the Ishizawa Laboratories name. Ishizawa Laboratories is a brand that aims for "snow-like skin, transparent and clear skin," so this soap is designed for those who want to remove sebum while enhancing skin clarity. The cleansing power is medium to slightly above medium, plus it contains charcoal that adsorbs sebum—that's why it's truly black. Beyond just removing sebum like typical soap, it adsorbs sebum more thoroughly. The charcoal is included to help address things like blackheads and pore darkness. It also contains ingredients that care for melanin and dead skin cells. Since UV exposure in summer tends to thicken the stratum corneum, this soap contains ingredients that help thin out this thickened layer. In this sense too, it helps create a sense of transparency. Since it's rinsed off, it's not as potent as lotions or serums, but it contains ingredients that suppress sebum, as well as Melothria extract which has whitening effects—so it helps control sebum while also providing brightening benefits. You might think it would leave your skin feeling tight after washing, but it also contains moisturizing ingredients like Angelica extract and Job's tears (Coix seed). Of course you still need to moisturize after washing, but it doesn't leave your skin feeling overly tight. If you lather it well and wash gently, it prevents sweat and sebum-related dulling, cleans up the stratum corneum nicely, and creates transparency. I can see why it has a loyal fan base. So if you want to boost transparency this summer while also addressing sebum, dirt, and pore darkness, I'd definitely recommend trying this one. Next is Dr.K's Clear Soap. I recall Brianna also uses this and said it's a really great soap, though she didn't go into much detail at the time—but I genuinely think this soap is excellent. Actually, it can even function as a cleanser; while it might not remove heavy waterproof makeup, it can remove regular makeup just fine. That's another great point about it. This one is similar to the Ishizawa Laboratories soap I just discussed—honestly, the soap ingredients are quite similar. So it should remove sebum-related dirt in a similar way. However, Dr.K is a brand that originally specializes in addressing pores and rough skin texture, incorporating anti-inflammatory ingredients to prevent sebum-related inflammation. The brand's philosophy for post-wash moisturizing involves using Vitamin C and glutathione to calm the skin. This soap is orange-colored, and sure enough, it contains vitamins—specifically Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 helps control sebum production and also suppresses damage from oxidized sebum. If you have open pores due to oxidized sebum, or your skin feels inflamed and slightly red, or your skin feels hot to the touch—these are signs that oxidized sebum is causing inflammation. So while controlling sebum is important, incorporating B vitamins to calm that inflammation is also crucial, and doing this through soap is a great approach. It also contains anti-inflammatory ingredients like licorice flavonoids, Rosa multiflora extract, and tree aloe extract, making it an excellent soap for those who really want to calm inflammation and address pores that appear more prominent due to that inflammation. So if the Ishizawa Laboratories soap is better suited for blackheads and pore darkness, Dr.K's soap seems more ideal for those whose skin tends to feel hot and inflamed. So today I introduced two soaps. Soap has truly been around for a long time, offering solid cleansing power that thoroughly removes dirt. However, because the cleansing power is fairly strong, please make sure to moisturize thoroughly afterward. As it gets hotter, you produce more sebum than you might realize. If you leave sebum unaddressed, it can lead to pore darkening, and when makeup and sebum combine and are exposed to UV rays, this can cause carbonylation and skin yellowing—these effects are becoming increasingly understood. Of course, washing gently is important, but I think summer is a good time to reconsider your cleansing products, so please consider adding soap as one of your options. Thank you so much for watching until the end today. I'll see you in the next video. Goodbye!
