皆さんこんにちは、友利新です。 いやーもう、のぼり君。毎日暑いね。 いやもう暑いですね。いつの間にか30度超えてて。 だってさ、タイと同じくらい暑くない? 暑いです。今だと僕ちょっと汗かいてますね。 エアコンをつけているのに? 先生は全く暑がりじゃないんですよね。 全然。暑いとは感じてますけれども、今年の暑さのスタートダッシュは早いなと思っていて。もう6月ぐらいから全然涼しくならなくて、梅雨に入ってからも全然暑くて。 梅雨明けみたいな感じでしたね。 そう、梅雨はありましたっていう感じで。今も7月になりましたけれども、ずっと連日30度を超えて、夜も熱帯夜が続いていて。冷たさ対策ってしてますか?涼しさ対策。 いやもうエアコンっていうものしかしてないですね。 実は化粧品の中にも冷感化粧品ってジャンルがあるんだけど、集めてみたの。ドラッグストアでも前の方に押し出されていて。今日はこの冷感化粧品を深掘りしていきたいと思いますので、よろしくお願いします。 ドラッグストアに行ったりとか、ご紹介いただいたものを少し並べてみたんだけれども、この中で使ってみたことがあるものはある? シート系のやつは見たことあります。 サラサラパウダーシートね。あとスプレーが結構出てたね。「瞬間冷感」っていう風に書いてあるし、これもスプレータイプ。ボディミストなんだけども冷たくなりますよっていう感じ。もう一つこれはオールインワンジェル。期間限定で冷たい、ヒヤッとするっていうタイプを持ってきてたんですけれども。 ぶっちゃけ冷感化粧品ってなんで冷たくなるかっていうと、2つの要素が組み合わさって冷たいっていう風に感じてるんだけど、一つは錯覚。 錯覚!? 例えばこれとかも「クールメントール配合」っていう風に書かれてあるんですけど、こっちもそう。これもメントール配合っていう風に書いてあって、冷たいって瞬間的に感じるのはメントールが入ってるんですね。メントールっていうのは皮膚にある冷たいっていうものを感じる「TRPM8」っていう受容体があります。この受容体を刺激するのよ。これを刺激すると冷たいって感じるわけ。冷たくなくても。 へー、なるほど。 だからこのメントール自体がこのTRPM8を刺激するから、冷たくなくても冷たいと脳が勘違いしてるの。 そういうことなんですね。 そういうことなんですよ。通常だったらこのTRPM8っていうセンサーって15度とか25度ぐらいの冷たいっていう風に感じるようになってるスイッチなんだけども、それをメントールが刺激することによって頭が錯覚して冷たいって感じてるっていうことになるの。 じゃあ本当は冷えてないってことですか? あ、そうそう。確かに脳は冷たいって感じてるんだけど体自体は冷えてないっていうのがまず一つ。 へー、なるほど。面白い。 もう一つがだいたいこういうメントール系ってスーッとするよね。エタノールっていうものが入ってるよね。エタノールってアルコールよ。病院とかに行って注射するときにアルコール綿で拭くでしょ。あのときにもヒヤッとするよね。それはなぜかっていうとエタノールが揮発性って言ってすぐ蒸発しちゃうの。蒸発するときに一緒に皮膚の熱を奪うっていう性質があるの。 それが熱を奪ってるんですね。 そうそう。だからまずはメントールが錯覚させて冷たいって感じさせる錯覚と、エタノールが揮発するときに皮膚の温度を下げてくれるっていう、この2つで冷たいって感じるの。 そもそもそれって肌にいいのかなっていうのがちょっと僕が思ったところなんですけど。 あ、そうね。だから最近は乳酸メンチルっていうものが含まれてるところもあるのね。同じように錯覚させるんだけどメントールよりは刺激がちょっと少ない。だからだいたいメントールと乳酸メンチルっていうものとエタノールを組み合わせて刺激が少ないように作られてるんだけれども、刺激は感じるものだから、傷があったりすると痛いと感じたりとか、あとは敏感肌の人だったり乾燥肌の人でバリア機能が低下してる人だと反応しちゃったりするので、荒れてしまう可能性はゼロじゃない。 そうなんですね。 日焼けの後とか肌が炎症してる時っていうのは気をつけて使った方がいいと思う。 ちなみに夏なんで日焼け止め塗ってるじゃないですか。その上から塗ります?日焼け止め取れちゃいます? 取れると思います。やっぱりお水系になるので、お水に強いですよっていうものじゃなければある程度膜は弱くなるかなと思う。 先生が使うなら外に出てどの順番で使います? これをシュッてしたらその部分は塗り直すから。シュッてするでしょ。ベタベタはしないわけよ、アルコールが飛んでるから。だからこの上にもう一回塗るから。 なるほど。 体温を下げてるわけじゃないので、例えば熱中症予防とかそういったものには弱いので、あくまでも冷たいと錯覚させてるよっていうのは思った方がいいかなとは思いますね。エタノールを使いすぎちゃうと、揮発する時に角質の水分を一緒に持ってっちゃう。だからさっき言ったように乾燥肌の人はより乾燥しちゃったりっていうところがあるので、なるべくこういうものを使った後はお家に帰ったら保湿をしてあげる。ただでさえ暑い時って角層自体も炎症が起きやすかったり、日焼けをすることによって角質が炎症を起こして水分が低下しちゃったりということがあるので、乾燥肌の人だったりとか日焼けをするっていう人は気をつけていただきたいし。あとはメントール自体に合わない人がいる?どう?使っててヒリヒリしたりとかする? 僕はないですね。 ない? はい。 でもこれ使って汗とか止まる感じはしないよね? そうですね。一瞬冷やっとして気分的にそれで治まるので、そのためのものなんですね。 のぼり君は冷たいって感じた後に汗まで止めたい? 止めたいですね。 だったとしたら、こっちの2つは汗まで止めるっていう処方がされているもの。 そういうのもあるんですか? そういうのもあって、今回は冷感っていうものでくくったんだけども、冷たく感じるだけじゃなくて、話を聞いていくと汗を止めたいっていう人も結構多くて。ビオレのものは確かにメントールを使って冷やしてるんだけれども、サラサラパウダー系、これは温度と湿度のストレスから解消して汗とベタつきを抑えるっていう風なものなんで。だから冷やっともさせるんだけれども汗も止めるっていうようなものになってます。多孔質っていって、いっぱい穴が開いているパウダーが入ってるのね。穴が多いシリカっていうものがあって、これが一緒に入っていることによって汗をしっかりと吸着してくれるの。だから汗をかいてもサラサラになるっていう感じ。難しいんだけど表面積が広いと一気に蒸発してくれるの。穴が開いているから表面積が広くなって、通常ここに乗ってるとあんまり汗って蒸発しないんだけど、パウダーで吸着してそこにいっぱい穴が開いて面がいっぱいあるみたいな感じだからすぐに蒸発するの。だから汗をかいてもサラサラしてるし、汗自体が蒸発してくれてスッとするっていうようなものをしているのがこれなの。特にこれは拭いてサラサラにするっていうものだし、こっちはお風呂上がりに使うの。お風呂上がりってさ暑いじゃない?シャワーをしてからこれをビューってやるじゃない?そのあとお水をかけるの。面白いように弾いてるの。 だって多孔質のシリカが入るから。 拭いたあとにお風呂上がると、さっき言った汗が出てきたとしても、多孔質のパウダーが吸着してくれて蒸発させるから汗を拭いてくれるっていう。汗をかいてお風呂に入るのにまた出てきたらまた入るっていうループじゃん。 そうならない? 気分的にはね。女の子ってさ髪長いからさ、バーってやってるとまた汗かいてまた入りたくなるっていうのを抑えてくれる。冷感っていうのはちょっと違うかもしれないけれども、やっぱり暑い夏にぴったりなものだし。これに関しては刺激とかはそんなに感じないので、メントールとかで刺激を感じて汗を止めるのが苦手だよっていう人は、サラサラパウダー系は持ち運びもいいし塗るっていうのもできるのでいいかなっていう風に思いました。 なるほど。 アルジランっていうものとマツキヨのオリジナルで出してて、多分今年出てるのかなっていうのもあるし、こっちは資生堂さんのフレイオールっていう、ちょっと50代以降の方向けの化粧品でも冷たいっていうのが出ているので、期間限定でいろいろ出ているので、冷感化粧品っていうものを使ってみて、この夏を乗り越えていただければなと思います。 どうですか?使いたくなった? そうですね。お風呂上がりに使うやつとか、仕組みがわかったんでちょっと選びやすくなりましたね。 そうね。だからサラサラ系っていうのは、ひんやりもするんだけれどもどちらかというと汗メインで、やっぱり瞬間とかミスト状のものはメントールとエタノールっていうものを使って錯覚させながら、体温を下げてないんだけれども冷たいと感じさせてるっていうものになるので、用途に合わせて使っていただければいいんじゃないかなという風に思います。 ということで、皆さんも暑い夏気をつけていただければと思います。ではまた次の動画でお会いしましょう。ありがとうございました。 余談なんですけど、シーブリーズってわかります? 知ってるよ。青と白。 キャップを交換し合うのが平成のエモい思い出っていうのを知ってます? キャップを交換するってどういうこと? シーブリーズってキャップと本体で分かれてて、例えば彼女と彼氏で高校生時代色違いのもの買って、キャップだけ交換するみたいなのが。 色違いってどういうこと? 石鹸の匂いはオレンジでミント系が青で、キャップだけ変えて、それが青春の思い出のエモいみたいな。 ダメよ、キャップ変えても!そういう用途でお使いになったらお客様困りますよ。 それがすごい流行っててオレンジレンジのMVとかでも使われてたんだよ。 そう?それ確認するわ。 最近あの版が出て、平成の懐かしいシーンみたいなのに使われてたんだよ。 ということですが、化粧品会社さんとしてはダメだと思います。 すみません。すみませんでした。

Right now I'm sweating a bit. Even with the air conditioner on? Doctor, you don't feel hot at all, do you? Not at all. I do feel the heat, but this year the heat started really early. Since around June it never really cooled down, and even during the rainy season it was already hot. It felt like the rainy season had already ended. Right, we did have a rainy season, but now that it's July, it's been over 30 degrees every day, and tropical nights continue. Are you doing anything for coolness or coldness countermeasures? Honestly, all I do is use the air conditioner. Actually, there's a category of cosmetics called "cooling cosmetics," so I gathered some. They're prominently displayed at the front of drugstores too. Today let's dig deep into these cooling cosmetics, so let's get started. I went to the drugstore and also got some recommendations, and laid them out here—have you used any of these before? I've seen the sheet type ones. The smooth powder sheets, right. And there were a lot of sprays too. This one says "instant cooling sensation," and it's also a spray type. It's a body mist that supposedly makes you feel cold. And this one is an all-in-one gel. I also brought a limited-edition cooling type that gives a chilly sensation. Honestly, when it comes to why cooling cosmetics feel cold, it's a combination of two factors. One is an illusion. An illusion!? For example, this one says "cool menthol formulated," and this one too. This one also says menthol is included, and the reason you feel cold instantly is because menthol is in it. Menthol works on a receptor in the skin called TRPM8, which senses cold. It stimulates the receptor. When this is stimulated, you feel cold—even if it's not actually cold. Oh, I see. So menthol itself stimulates TRPM8, causing the brain to mistakenly perceive coldness even though it's not actually cold. I see, that's how it works. Exactly. Normally, this TRPM8 sensor is a switch that responds to temperatures around 15 to 25 degrees as "cold," but menthol stimulates it, tricking the brain into feeling cold. So it's not actually cold? Right, exactly. The brain definitely feels cold, but the body itself isn't actually cooled down. That's one factor. Oh, interesting. The other factor is that these menthol-type products usually have a tingling sensation, right? That's because ethanol is included. Ethanol is alcohol. You know how when you get an injection at the hospital, they wipe with an alcohol swab? That gives a chilly feeling too. Why does that happen? Because ethanol is volatile and evaporates quickly. When it evaporates, it takes heat away from the skin at the same time. So that's what's taking away the heat. Exactly. So first, menthol creates the illusion of coldness, and second, ethanol evaporating lowers the skin's actual temperature. These two combined create the feeling of coldness. I was wondering if that's actually good for the skin in the first place. Ah, right. That's why some products these days contain lactic acid menthyl ester. It creates a similar illusion but with less irritation than menthol. So generally, menthol, lactic acid menthyl ester, and ethanol are combined to reduce irritation, but since it's still a stimulus, if you have a wound, it can hurt, and for people with sensitive or dry skin whose barrier function is compromised, it can cause a reaction—so there's a possibility of irritation, it's not zero. I see. After sunburn, or when the skin is inflamed, you should be careful when using it. By the way, since it's summer, we apply sunscreen, right? Do you apply this on top? Would it remove the sunscreen? I think it would come off to some extent. Since these are water-based, unless it's labeled as water-resistant, the sunscreen film would likely weaken somewhat. If you were to use this yourself outside, in what order would you apply things? If you spray this, you'd need to reapply sunscreen to that area. When you spray it, right, it's not sticky because the alcohol evaporates. So you'd reapply on top of it afterward. I see. Since it doesn't actually lower body temperature, it's not very effective for things like heatstroke prevention—it's really just creating the illusion of coldness, so keep that in mind. If you use too much ethanol, when it evaporates, it takes away moisture from the stratum corneum along with it. So as I mentioned, for people with dry skin, this can make it even drier, so it's good to moisturize after coming home from using these products. Especially in hot weather, the skin's outer layer is prone to inflammation, and sunburn can cause the stratum corneum to become inflamed and lose moisture, so people with dry skin or those who get sunburned should be careful. Also, are there people who don't react well to menthol itself? How about you—does it sting when you use it? Not for me. No? Nope. But using this doesn't actually stop sweating, does it? Right, it just gives a momentary cool feeling that psychologically calms you down—that's what it's for. Nobori-kun, after feeling cold, do you also want to stop sweating? Yes, I'd like that. In that case, these two products are formulated to actually help stop sweating too. Oh, such things exist? They do. This time I grouped everything under "cooling," but beyond just feeling cold, many people also want to stop sweating. The Biore product definitely cools using menthol, but the smooth powder type is designed to relieve stress from temperature and humidity, suppressing sweat and stickiness. So it gives a cooling sensation while also helping control sweat. It contains a powder with lots of tiny holes—it's porous. There's a type of silica with lots of pores, and by including this, it firmly absorbs sweat. So even if you sweat, your skin stays smooth. It's a bit complex, but a larger surface area causes faster evaporation. Because the powder has all these holes, the surface area increases, so normally sweat wouldn't evaporate much just sitting on the skin, but with the powder's absorption and its many pores creating lots of surface area, it evaporates quickly. So even when you sweat, your skin feels smooth, and the sweat itself evaporates, giving a refreshing feeling. This one in particular is meant to be wiped on for smoothness, while this other one is used after a bath. After a bath, it's hot, right? You take a shower, then spray this on, and afterward pour water on your skin—it beads off beautifully. Because it contains porous silica. After wiping it on post-bath, even if you start sweating again like I mentioned, the porous powder absorbs and evaporates the sweat, essentially wiping it away for you. Otherwise you'd sweat, take a bath, sweat again, want to bathe again—it becomes a loop, right? Doesn't that happen? At least psychologically it helps. Girls with long hair, when they're drying their hair vigorously, tend to sweat again and want to shower again—this helps suppress that urge. It might not exactly be "cooling," but it's perfect for hot summers. This one doesn't cause much irritation, so for people who find menthol-based stinging uncomfortable when trying to stop sweating, the smooth powder type is convenient to carry around and can be applied directly, so I think it's a good option.
