美白2大巨頭のHAKUとホワイトショットについて解説します。

皆さんこんにちは、内科皮膚科医の友利新です。今日は美白の2大巨頭、HAKUとホワイトショットについて深掘りしていこうと思います。 美白にあんまり興味がないという方でも、この資生堂のHAKUとポーラのホワイトショット、絶対聞いたことありますよね。日本で一番有名な美白美容液と言っても過言ではないこのHAKUとホワイトショット、今年もまたまたバージョンアップして美白の2大巨頭として進化し続けているんです。 HAKUは資生堂さん、ホワイトショットはポーラさんなので、まぁ一応ライバル会社なので、そんなにその情報が色々行き来しているとは思えないんですが、どちらも実は今回注目しているのが血管っていうことで。普通美白だったらもうメラニンとか、メラニンを作るメラノサイトっていう色素細胞に注目がいくんですが、もうそこはもう研究し尽くしたから次行くのは血管だっていうことで、両者どちらも今回は血管に注目して血管にアプローチする成分を入れてきています。 これすごい面白いですよね。やっぱり行き着くところは究極論同じになっちゃうのかなって思ったんですが、それぞれどういうことで、どういった成分が入っていて、じゃあぶっちゃけどういう人に効果が期待できるかを詳しくお話ししていきますので、最後までご覧ください。 まずは3月1日に発売になったばかりのこのポーラのホワイトショットになります。これホワイトショットCXSという結構シャバシャバッとしたあの水っぽい美容液になります。これは先ほど言ったようにこちらの商品、血管に注目しているというふうに言ったんですが、じゃあどういったお肌悩みの方に使っていただくといいかなと思うのは、ずばり洗っても取れない茶渋のような肌にどんよりした濁り感、くすみ感がある方になります。 美白美容液っていうとなんかシミっていうこともそうですけど、全体的な肌のくすみとか濁り感とかもブライトニングでとっていくというようなことがありますよね。特になんと年齢を重ねて肌色がどんどん変わってきて、昔はなんか透明感のある白い肌だったのが、だんだん年を重ねてくすみが起こってきて、なんかまるで茶渋のようについているっていうような肌全体のくすみだったり茶色っぽい濁り感を改善してくれる効果が期待できるものになるんです。 この茶渋のように濁りがある肌って何なのかっていうことを研究したら、実はこの肌のくすみ感を出しているのは、体の中にある老化色素であるリポフスチンというものが関与しているんです。 実はリポフスチンっていうのは、生まれてから3ヶ月ぐらいから徐々に体の中に出てきて、老化色素というぐらい年を取るにつれてどんどん出てきます。赤ちゃんの目ってすごい白目が白かったりするじゃないですか。でも年をとると黄色っぽくなってくるのもこのリポフスチンの影響ということも言われているし、例えば肌だけじゃなくて老化を促すような目の変化もそうですし、いろんなところでこのリポフスチンっていうのが老化に関与しているということがわかっているんですね。 もちろん肌にもこのリポフスチンというのはついていくんですけれども、実は肌って表皮はターンオーバーがあって、いつもいつも生まれ変わってるわけじゃないですか。なのでリポフスチンがついたとしても、表皮の細胞というのはどんどんターンオーバーでいなくなってしまうので、あんまり溜まりにくいんですよ。 なんですが、血管の内側にある血管内皮細胞というのは実は生まれ変わりがすごく遅いんですね。なのでこのリポフスチンがこの血管の内側にある血管内皮細胞にこびりついてしまうと、血管自体が淀んで見えてしまう。あと顔には血管がいっぱいあるじゃないですか。血管自体の内側にある内皮細胞がリポフスチンで汚れていると、血管に流れる血液もドス黒く見えちゃうので、それで顔全体がくすんで見えちゃうよ、ということになります。 でそれだけじゃなくて、このリポフスチンが血管内皮細胞に多いとですね、血流を低下させてしまうということがわかっているので、隅々まで血液が行き渡らない。それもまた顔色がくすんでしまう原因になるんですね。 なのでこのリポフスチンをどうにか分解して作らせないようにするっていう成分が、このホワイトショットCXSには配合されているんです。この血管内皮細胞のリポフスチンを除去するエキスっていうのが、黄芩エキスと朝顔カラクサエキスっていうものになります。 この成分があるとですね、血管内皮細胞のリポフスチンが除去されて、血管の内側が汚れた茶渋のような茶色っぽいのが取れてくる。プラスアルファ、末梢血管に血液が隅々まで行くようになるので、要は肌が明るく、そして透明感のある肌に生まれ変わらせてくれるということが期待できるんです。 なんとなく年々肌がくすんできて見える、昔は白かったのにどんどん黄色っぽくなってくるっていうことがお悩みの方はぜひぜひお試ししていただけるといいかなと思います。 2大巨頭のもう一つである資生堂のHAKU、こちらもですね血管にフォーカスをしています。でも同じ血管といってもこのHAKUはまたまた違うアプローチをしてるんですね。先ほどのホワイトショットが全体的な透明感を出したいという方に向けているんですが、このHAKUは本当に頑固なシミだったり、レーザーを当てた後でもなんとなく再発をしてしまうようなシミにも効果を期待できるという美容液になるんです。 これがどういうことかというと、私たち皮膚科医としても経験するんですけれども、まあやっぱりシミの治療といったらレーザーなんですよ。レーザー治療をした後にすごく綺麗に色素沈着なく治っていく方と、かなり色素沈着が出てしまったりシミが再発してしまう人っていうのが2パターンいらっしゃるんですね。それって何でだろうっていうのは、もう肌質なのかなっていうふうに思っていて、これってどういうふうになるかわからないので、まあ照射してみないとわからないんですよって患者さんには言っていたんですが、それを資生堂さんはしっかりと研究したところ、実はレーザーを照射した後に色素沈着だったりシミが再発しやすいっていう人は、そのシミの部位ですね、新生血管と呼ぶんですけども、新生血管がとても多いということを発見したんです。 この研究発表は第36回の日本美容皮膚科学会でもですね学術発表がされていて、私はそうなんだということを知っていたんですよ。なのでレーザーでも消しにくいというか、レーザーでも再発しやすい新生血管にアプローチをしていくというのがこのHAKUの美容液になります。 じゃあなんでその新生血管がいっぱいあると、そこのシミが消えづらかったりとか濃くなるかっていうと、この新生血管があるところにはですね、ウロキナーゼという成分が多いということがわかってるんですね。このウロキナーゼというのはどういう働きがあるかというと、まあもともとウロキナーゼというのは血管を作るっていうものを刺激するものになるので、もともとね異常血管が多い場所にはもちろんウロキナーゼが多いということはなんとなくわかっていたんですが、このウロキナーゼがどうやってシミと関係するかというと、実は紫外線が当たってしまうとこのウロキナーゼっていうのが、メラノサイトを活性化するチロシナーゼという酵素をまた刺激するんですよ。それによってメラノサイトが活性化してメラニン色素をたくさん作ってしまうことで、シミが濃くなってしまうということがわかってるんですね。 なので異常血管がある場所でチロシナーゼがいっぱいある場所っていうのにUVだったり他の刺激の成分が入ってしまうとメラノサイトが活性化してシミが濃くなってしまうということなんです。なのでできればもちろん紫外線対策はもちろんですけれども、このウロキナーゼの活性を抑えるっていうことがシミの場所の再発だったり色素沈着を抑えるということがわかったんですね。ウロキナーゼの活性を抑える成分がですね、オトギリソウの抽出液に入っていることがわかって、それをこの新しいHAKUには配合されているんです。 資生堂の製品なので、資生堂の特許を持っている4MSKっていう美白成分、トラネキサム酸も入っていて、プラス今回のこのオトギリソウエキスも入っていて、いろんなアプローチからシミをなくしたいっていうような感じで、さらにパワーアップした待望の美容液になります。こちらは3月21日に発売予定で、価格は1万円になります。 なので先ほどのホワイトショットは全体的に濁っている肌を改善したい方、HAKUの方は頑固なシミだったり、レーザーの後でもモコモコとまた出てきてしまうシミに悩んでいる方には、HAKUの方がおすすめかなと。でもどちらにしてもですね、もう資生堂さんもポーラさんも本当に皮膚科医でもすごいなと思うような研究と開発をされているので、本当にすごいなぁと感動しています。またどんな風に進化をしてくるのか毎年毎年楽しみなんですけど、そこの私の期待値をどんどん超えてくる、本当に美白の二大巨頭として素晴らしい美容液だなと思って、お二つ紹介させていただきました。 いかがでしたか。このチャンネルではこのように美容や健康について皆さんにわかりやすくお話ししているチャンネルになりますので、よかったらチャンネル登録お願いします。そして光文社さんと一緒に配信しているシェアマガジン『週刊 友利新』では、ほぼ毎日美容情報だったり新製品をご紹介していますし、私が編集長を務めているので、気になる場所だったり綺麗になるスポットだったり、あと美容研究者さんとの対談などいろんなコンテンツを配信していますので、よかったら番組概要欄からチェックしてみてください。 それではまた次の動画でお会いしましょう。

Hello everyone, I'm Arata Tomori, an internal medicine and dermatologist doctor. Today I want to take a deep dive into the two giants of whitening skincare, HAKU and White Shot. Even if you're not that interested in whitening skincare, you've definitely heard of Shiseido's HAKU and Pola's White Shot. These two serums, which could be called Japan's most famous whitening serums, have both been upgraded again this year and continue to evolve as the two giants of whitening care. HAKU is made by Shiseido and White Shot by Pola, so they're technically rival companies, and I don't think much information is exchanged between them. But interestingly, this time both companies are focusing on blood vessels. Normally with whitening products, the focus is on melanin or the pigment cells that produce melanin called melanocytes, but it seems both companies have researched that area so thoroughly that they've moved on to blood vessels next. So both companies have incorporated ingredients this time that focus on and approach blood vessels. I find this really fascinating. I guess when you take things to their logical extreme, they end up converging on the same conclusion. I'll explain in detail what each product does, what ingredients are in them, and honestly, what kind of person can expect results from each, so please watch until the end. First, let's talk about Pola's White Shot, which was just released on March 1st. This is White Shot CXS, a fairly watery, runny serum. As I mentioned, this product focuses on blood vessels. So who should use this? It's specifically for people whose skin has a dull, cloudy quality like tea stains that won't wash off. When we talk about whitening serums, people often think of spots, but there's also this idea of using brightening to address overall skin dullness and cloudiness. In particular, as we age, our skin color gradually changes—skin that used to have a clear, white quality gradually develops dullness with age, taking on something like a tea-stained appearance. This product is expected to improve that overall skin dullness and brownish cloudiness. When researching what causes this tea-stain-like cloudiness in the skin, it turns out that an aging pigment in the body called lipofuscin is involved in creating this dullness. Lipofuscin actually starts appearing gradually in the body from about 3 months after birth, and as an aging pigment, it increases more and more as we age. You know how babies have very white whites of their eyes? But as people age, they become yellowish, and this is also said to be due to the influence of lipofuscin. It's not just the skin—this age-related change in the eyes is also connected to lipofuscin, which is known to be involved in aging processes throughout the body. Of course, lipofuscin also accumulates in the skin, but the epidermis undergoes turnover, constantly renewing itself. So even if lipofuscin attaches to the skin, the epidermal cells keep turning over and disappearing, so it doesn't tend to accumulate much there. However, the vascular endothelial cells on the inside of blood vessels actually renew themselves very slowly. So when lipofuscin sticks to these vascular endothelial cells inside blood vessels, the blood vessels themselves start to look murky. And since the face has so many blood vessels, when the endothelial cells lining these vessels are contaminated with lipofuscin, the blood flowing through them looks darker and murkier too, which makes the whole face appear dull. Not only that, but when there's a lot of lipofuscin in the vascular endothelial cells, it's known to reduce blood flow, meaning blood doesn't reach every corner properly. This is another factor contributing to a dull complexion. So the ingredient that somehow breaks down this lipofuscin and prevents it from forming is what's included in this White Shot CXS. The extracts that remove lipofuscin from vascular endothelial cells are called Scutellaria root extract (Ougon extract) and Ipomoea (Asagao Karakusa) extract. With these ingredients, the lipofuscin in the vascular endothelial cells gets removed, clearing away that tea-stain-like brownish discoloration inside the blood vessels. On top of that, blood reaches every corner through the peripheral blood vessels, so essentially you can expect brighter skin with a renewed sense of transparency. If you're troubled by the feeling that your skin has been getting duller year by year, or that skin which used to be white is gradually becoming more yellowish, I really recommend trying this out. The other of the two giants, Shiseido's HAKU, also focuses on blood vessels. But even though it's the same focus on blood vessels, HAKU takes a different approach. While the previous White Shot targets people who want overall transparency, this HAKU serum is expected to be effective against truly stubborn spots, including spots that tend to recur even after laser treatment. What does this mean? As dermatologists, we experience this too—when it comes to treating spots, laser treatment is the go-to method. But after laser treatment, there are two patterns: people who heal beautifully with no pigmentation issues, and people who develop significant pigmentation or have their spots recur. I used to think this was just due to differences in skin type, and since we can't know in advance, I would tell patients we'd only know after trying the treatment. But Shiseido thoroughly researched this, and found that people who tend to develop pigmentation or recurring spots after laser treatment actually have a lot of what's called neovascularization (new blood vessel formation) at the site of the spot. This research was presented at the 36th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Aesthetic Dermatology, and I knew about this finding. So this HAKU serum approaches these new blood vessels that are hard to eliminate with laser and tend to cause recurrence even after laser treatment. So why does having a lot of these new blood vessels make spots harder to erase or make them darker? It turns out that areas with these new blood vessels have high levels of a substance called urokinase. What does urokinase do? Essentially, urokinase stimulates the formation of blood vessels, so it was somewhat known that areas with a lot of abnormal blood vessels naturally have a lot of urokinase. But how does urokinase relate to spots? It turns out that when exposed to UV light, this urokinase stimulates an enzyme called tyrosinase, which activates melanocytes. This activation of melanocytes leads to increased melanin production, which is what's known to darken spots. So in areas with abnormal blood vessels where there's a lot of tyrosinase, if UV or other stimulating factors are introduced, melanocytes get activated and spots darken. So of course UV protection is important, but it was found that suppressing the activity of urokinase helps prevent recurrence and pigmentation at spot sites. The ingredient that suppresses urokinase activity was found in St. John's Wort (Otogiriso) extract, and this has been incorporated into the new HAKU. Since this is a Shiseido product, it also contains their patented whitening ingredient 4MSK and tranexamic acid, plus this new St. John's Wort extract, taking a multi-pronged approach to eliminating spots. This is a highly anticipated, further upgraded serum. It's scheduled for release on March 21st, priced at 10,000 yen. So, to summarize: the previous White Shot is recommended for those who want to improve overall skin dullness and cloudiness, while HAKU is recommended for those troubled by stubborn spots or spots that keep recurring even after laser treatment. Either way, both Shiseido and Pola are conducting research and development that's genuinely impressive even from a dermatologist's perspective, and I'm truly moved by it. I look forward every year to seeing how these products will evolve, and they keep exceeding my expectations.
