So this time, I decided to do a solo version of this budget-based skincare recommendation series. On this channel, I share recommended skincare items and the latest beauty information, so if you haven't subscribed yet, please consider doing so! Today's theme is "whitening (brightening) skincare," broken down by budget: 5,000 yen, 10,000 yen, and 30,000 yen. I've carefully selected items within each budget, so I hope you'll watch and think about which price range suits your own skincare routine. Please note that I won't be listing the exact price of each individual product—you can look those up yourself—but the total for each set adds up to approximately 5,000 yen, 10,000 yen, and 30,000 yen respectively. Let's get started! ### 5,000 Yen Budget Whitening Skincare While you could easily find a whitening serum alone for 5,000 yen, I wanted to put together a full routine—toner, serum, and cream (or emulsion)—within this budget. It was quite challenging to find a complete whitening lineup at this price, but here's what I selected. **Toner: Hada Labo Gokujyun Medicated Hari Lotion** You might wonder why I'm choosing a "firming" lotion for whitening—but the active ingredient here is Niacinamide. While Niacinamide has become famous recently for wrinkle improvement, it also has whitening effects. It suppresses melanin production and promotes turnover, helping cells with accumulated melanin get pushed out faster. It also contains three types of hyaluronic acid for strong moisturizing power. Since whitening isn't just about active ingredients—proper hydration in the stratum corneum is essential for brightening the skin tone—this is a great cost-effective choice. **Serum: Melano CC Medicated Intensive Spot Care Premium Serum** When it comes to affordable whitening serums, it's hard to beat Melano CC. It contains three types of Vitamin C (Vitamin C derivatives, pure Vitamin C, etc.), which not only has strong antioxidant properties but also acts on melanocytes to inhibit melanin production and transfer. It also contains Allantoin, an anti-inflammatory ingredient. Since inflammation can activate melanocytes, anti-inflammatory action is a key point for whitening care. This is an excellent budget pick. **Cream: Curel HD Moisture Cream** This cream itself doesn't contain whitening ingredients, but as mentioned, hydration is crucial for whitening care. Since whitening ingredients work best on well-hydrated skin, this is an excellent choice. **Serum: Elixir Spot Clear Serum Medicated Whitening Serum** This was actually the first item I chose for the 10,000 yen budget—it's incredibly cost-effective and high-performing. It contains three whitening ingredients: Tranexamic Acid (blocks melanin production signals), Shiseido's proprietary 4MSK (suppresses melanin production and promotes its removal), and Retinol (promotes turnover). This multi-angle approach makes it a fantastic choice for whitening care. **Cream: Wamane Method Triple A Treatment Cream** Since the toner and serum already used up a good portion of the budget, I chose an affordable yet effective cream. It contains high-moisture ingredients like Lipidure and Polyquaternium-51, which draw in moisture while giving the skin a dewy finish, along with oils like olive oil for balanced hydration. ### 30,000 Yen Budget Whitening Skincare At this price point, I considered not just active ingredients but also texture, usage experience, and the latest research findings. **Toner: Astalift White Bright Lotion (Whitening Toner)** Using Fujifilm's nanotechnology, this lotion contains nano-sized Astaxanthin with strong antioxidant properties, along with nano-sized collagen (3 types) and seaweed extract. It also contains Arbutin, a whitening active ingredient that inhibits Tyrosinase to suppress melanin production, plus the anti-inflammatory ingredient Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate. The generous pump-bottle size is also a nice bonus. **Serum: SK-II GenOptics Aura Essence (30ml)** Whitening care isn't just about dark spots—dullness is also a major concern. SK-II's research found that bilirubin produced in the skin's outer layers is one cause of dullness, and this serum contains "SD Light," an ingredient that breaks down this bilirubin. It also contains Niacinamide for melanin care. Additionally, SK-II's signature ingredient Pitera has been found to also help break down bilirubin, offering both melanin care and dullness care in one product. **Cream: SPA Treatment Skin Taut Cream** Using DPD Capsule technology, this cream slowly delivers large-molecule moisturizing ingredients like collagen and hyaluronic acid deep into the skin. It's a fitting finishing touch for a 30,000 yen routine. **Bonus Add-on: CIRACLE Enrich ML Cream (8g Trial Size)** Since the toner, serum, and cream totaled 28,710 yen, I used the remaining budget to add a pure Retinol-based anti-aging cream. Retinol promotes skin turnover, helping to shed old cells with accumulated melanin, which supports the effectiveness of whitening active ingredients. ### Wrap-Up That's my selection of whitening skincare routines across three budgets: 5,000 yen, 10,000 yen, and 30,000 yen. Across all price ranges, the key theme was "moisturize well, add whitening active ingredients, then seal in with more moisture." While whitening is often associated solely with active ingredients, proper hydration and turnover care are equally important.
