【皮膚科医が解説】汗と臭い対策

皆さん、こんにちは。内科皮膚科医の友利新です。 今日は夏のお悩みNo.1といったら、匂いと汗ですよね。暑くて汗をかくって、それが匂いに変わってしまうということがあって、多くの人が悩んでいると思います。 私たち医者も、人に会うじゃないですか、患者さん、密室というか個室で。その時に入ってきた時に、この先生臭いなって思われないようにすごく気をつけているんですね。気をつけるといっても、香水とかみたいなもので匂いをなかったことにするということができないので、匂いをさせないようにする。あとは、実は匂いって先ほども言ったように、汗をかくことで匂いのもとになりますから、汗をかかないようにして、そして匂いを発しないようにする。嫌な匂いを臭くしないようにするということですね。それをかなり気をつけています。 そんな私がやっぱり成分的にもすごいと思っていて、私自身も愛用しているアイテムを3つ今日はご紹介しようと思います。 まず1つ目がこちらです。花王ビオレZロールオンになります。こちらロールオンというのは脇に直接塗る制汗剤なんですが、これ私も多分もう何本買ったかわからないぐらいすごく愛用しているものになります。これ石鹸の香りって書いてあるんですが、これは石鹸で匂いをマスキングしているというわけじゃなくて、ほんのり香るぐらいでずっと香るというわけではないので、香水みたいに使うものではないんですよ。 このロールオンのすごいところは、通常の制汗剤とはもう考え方が全く違うということになります。その1つが、通常の制汗剤というのは、例えば脇に塗ったりとかすると、制汗アルミニウムというものが汗の管線にプラグのようにくっつくというか、これを抑えるんですね。その制汗アルミニウムが汗が出る入り口を塞ぐことで汗を出さないようにするというのが基本的な制汗スプレーの基準になります。ただ抑えているだけなので、汗がすごく多かったりしたら出てきてしまいますし、シミ出てきちゃう。そもそもこの汗の管線をプラグで止めるということはどうなの?みたいな感じの思いもあるので、そんな普通の制汗剤とは違って、実はこのロールオンはそんな制汗アルミニウム塩というものが全く入っていないんです。 どうやって汗を止めるかというと、これがビオレさんの独自の方法で、持続型ドライメッシュ技術というものになります。コンセプトは汗を止めない。汗は完全に止まらないから、管線を塞ぐんじゃなくて、汗をかいてもすぐに蒸発させようという考えなんですね。これはどういったものかというと、細かい粉体、粉を目には見えないような粉体が粒子同士が細かくくっついているので、それがお肌に乗ることによって、スポンジとかメッシュのような状態です。そこが汗を吸って、それをすぐに乾かしてしまう。なので汗を止めるんじゃなくて、かくんだけれども、それを吸ってすぐに乾かすというような特殊な技術になります。 もう一つすごいところが、汗殺菌スタミナ技術というものが入っているんですね。実は汗をかくと、なんで匂いのもとになるかというと、汗をかくことによって、肌にいる菌が汗にあるタンパク質とかを食べて、菌が増殖することによって匂いのもとになるんです。なので基本的には通常の制汗剤というのには殺菌剤、抗菌剤ですね。そういうものが入っているんですよ。なんですけれども、なかなか汗とか水に溶けないので、どちらかというと、さっき言った汗を止めるというような技術でなんとなく止めて、あとは多少は入っているんだけれども、殺菌効果というのはすごく薄いというふうに考えられていました。 なんですが、このビオレさんの汗殺菌スタミナ技術というのは、この制汗剤をしっかりと汗とか水に溶けさせることができるというような技術なんです。この技術、実はオレンジジュースをヒントに作ったそうなんですね。皆さん考えてみてください。自分で作るオレンジジュースって、澱というか沈殿するじゃないですか。でもペットボトルでオレンジジュースを買ってくると、何も沈殿とかそういったものが入ってないんですよね。これって何でかというと、やっぱりしっかりと熱を加えたり圧をかけることで、その沈殿がなくなるということらしいんですよ。実はビオレって花王さんなんですね。花王が一つのブランドなので、花王ってヘルシアとか飲料を作っているので、その飲料を作っているところの技術を応用したらしいんです。なので、この溶けにくい殺菌剤を特殊な圧をかけたりすることによって、しっかりと汗やお水に溶けるように効果的に入れることができるので、通常のものよりも配合量が多いというものになります。 なので、持続型ドライメッシュ技術で汗をかいてもすぐ乾かす。そして、汗殺菌スタミナ技術っていって、殺菌効果のある薬剤がしっかりと通常のものよりも多く溶けていることによって、汗をかいてもこの汗が臭いになること、菌を抑えてくれているわけですから、たくさん汗をかいてもその菌が増殖するのを抑えてくれるということで、汗も臭いもブロックしてくれるという優れものになるんです。 すごくないですか?たったこの一本にこの技術が凝縮していて、私これを開発した技術担当の方とお話をしたことがあるんですけど、なんとですよこれ、7年もかかったんですってこれ技術に。これを聞いたらもうね、私はこれを使う時にいつもその人に向かってありがとうございましたと思いながら使っています。 続いては、ちょっとすいません私の私物というか何回も着たものでちょっと汚いかなっていうかなんか心配なんですけど、これ。こちらです。ワコールさんの肌着すごいになります。 これね、私も本当に好きで何枚も買ってるんですが、実は分かるかな?本当に裏というか後ろが見えるぐらい本当に特殊なすごく薄い肌着になるんですが、あとここの背中のところにちょっと接触冷感シートってちょっと冷たいようなシートが背中についているということと、あと触るとちょっと冷たく感じるようなレーヨンとあとは速乾性のあるポリエステルが本当に細かく織られているので、汗をかいてもすぐに乾かしてくれるんですよ。もちろんさっきの脇だけじゃなくてこれ肌着で着ているので、なんとなく緊張した時とか全身汗かいたりするじゃないですか、そういう時にもちゃんと吸ってくれてすぐに乾かしてくれるんですね。もちろん汗を止めるような脇の方にもちゃんとパッドもついているので、全身の汗が気になるような人はすごくおすすめです。 もう一つこれポリジン加工といって抗菌作用のあるような加工があるんですよ。これっていうのは銀イオンを特殊にこの繊維に織り込むことで、銀イオンっていうのは抗菌作用がありますから、汗を吸い取るだけじゃなくて、さっき言った菌が増殖して汗を食べることで、菌が増殖することで匂いが出ることも防いでくれるっていう、本当に名前の通りすごいインナーになります。私これ実はこういうインナー、グレージュみたいなものだけじゃなくて、白とか黒とかいろんなパターンあって、何枚か夏はこちらにお世話になることが多いです。 3つ目はちょっと前の2つとは視点が変わったまた面白い匂い対策のものになります。それがこちら、デオコ薬用ボディクレンズになります。 こちら知っている方もいるかもしれないんですけども、JK、女子高生の匂いがするボディーソープとして一躍有名になったんですが、これ実はもちろんこれ自体もボディーソープでいい香りがするんですが、このいい香りが女子高生の香りなわけじゃないんです。 これにはすごい技術があって、実は2017年、日本味と匂学会っていうものの第51回の大会で発表があって、例えば加齢臭ですね、年齢によってだんだんと年代によって人間っていうのは発する体臭が違う。なので若い人特有の匂いと言うんですかね、あとは年齢がいった時の匂いっていうのはやっぱり変わってきて、実は若い人の香りにはある物質が多いので若い人特有のいい匂いって言うんですかね、がするんじゃないかということを発見して発表されたことがあるんです。 この女子高生って言うんですかね、若い人の香りのいい匂いの成分の元がラクトンC10とC11っていうものだっていうことがわかったんです。このラクトンC10とC11を配合しているのがこのデオコになるんです。だから甘い香りっていうかこの一瞬の香りでJKの匂いっていうわけではなくて、このラクトンC11とラクトンC10が入っていることによってこの甘い香りがなくなった後もそれが肌に残ることによって、年齢がだんだんいくと下がってくるこのラクトンを補って体の匂いを若い頃の匂いに戻しましょうっていうコンセプトのものになるんですよ。 すごいですよね。なのでこのデオコおじさんとかっていうことが流行ったぐらい去年は男性から私たちみたいに40代過ぎた女性まですごく愛用している人が多いボディーソープになります。ちなみにうちの旦那もこっそり使っているみたいです。 あとこれはもう一つポイントなんですが、匂いだけじゃなくてこのラクトンC10と11っていうのは実は皮膚のバリア機能にも関連しているということが分かってきたんですね。実は紫外線が当たったりとか、皮膚の摩擦が起こったりすると炎症物質であるIL-6っていう物質ができるんですけれども、このIL-6をラクトンC10だったりC11が抑えるっていう研究データも分かってきたので、香り、匂いだけではなくて皮膚のバリア機能もある程度高めてくれるんじゃないかということも言われているので、ボディーソープとしてもそういう意味では優秀な一品じゃないかなと思っています。 いかがでしたか?やっぱり汗と匂いって本当にもう嫌じゃないですか。なので、私自身も気をつけていますけれども、やっぱりそれに悩んでいる方が多いですから、皆さん、どのメーカーさんもしっかりとした独自技術でいろんな方面から汗と匂いっていうものを研究して、それの対策のグッズが出ていますので、お悩みの方はぜひチェックしてみてください。 こちらのチャンネルでは、このように美容や健康について皆さんに分かりやすくお話ししていますので、よかったらチャンネル登録してみてください。ではまた次の動画でお会いしましょう。さようなら。

Hello everyone. I'm Arata Tomori, an internal medicine and dermatologist physician. Today, if we're talking about the number one summer concern, it's definitely body odor and sweat. When it's hot and you sweat, that sweat can turn into odor, and I think many people struggle with this. We doctors also meet with people, right—patients, in what's essentially a private, enclosed room. So we're very careful not to be thought of as "this doctor smells" when patients come in. Being careful doesn't mean masking the smell with something like perfume, so instead we try not to produce odor in the first place. Also, as I mentioned, sweating is the source of odor, so we try not to sweat, and thereby avoid producing odor. In other words, we try to prevent unpleasant smells from becoming smelly. I'm quite careful about this. As someone like this, I think there are some genuinely impressive products in terms of their ingredients, and today I want to introduce three items that I personally use and love. The first one is this: Kao Biore Z Roll-On. This roll-on is an antiperspirant you apply directly to your underarms, and I've probably bought so many bottles of this that I can't even count—I really love it. It says "soap scent" on the label, but this isn't about masking odor with a soap smell; it's just a faint scent that doesn't linger, so it's not meant to be used like a perfume. What's amazing about this roll-on is that its underlying concept is completely different from regular antiperspirants. One difference is that regular antiperspirants typically work by having aluminum salts attach to the sweat glands like a plug, suppressing them. This aluminum blocks the opening where sweat comes out, preventing sweat from being released—that's the basic standard for antiperspirant sprays. But since it's just suppressing sweat, if you sweat a lot, it can still come through, causing stains. There's also the question of whether it's even a good idea to plug up the sweat glands like that in the first place. Unlike those conventional antiperspirants, this roll-on actually contains no aluminum salts at all. So how does it stop sweat? This is Biore's unique method called "Sustained Dry Mesh Technology." The concept is not to stop sweat. Since sweat can't be completely stopped, instead of blocking the glands, the idea is to let you sweat but then quickly evaporate it. What this involves is extremely fine powder particles—invisible to the eye—that cling together and form something like a sponge or mesh when applied to the skin. This mesh absorbs sweat and quickly dries it. So rather than stopping sweat, it's a special technology that lets you sweat but immediately absorbs and dries it. Another amazing feature is what's called "Sweat Antibacterial Stamina Technology." The reason sweating leads to odor is that when you sweat, bacteria on your skin feed on proteins in the sweat and multiply, which becomes the source of the smell. So basically, regular antiperspirants do contain antibacterial or germicidal agents. However, these don't dissolve well in sweat or water, so in practice, they mostly relied on the sweat-blocking technology I mentioned earlier to somewhat suppress odor, while the antibacterial effect, though present to some degree, was considered quite weak. However, Biore's Sweat Antibacterial Stamina Technology is a technology that allows this antibacterial agent to properly dissolve in sweat and water. Apparently, this technology was actually inspired by orange juice. Think about it, everyone—when you make orange juice yourself, sediment forms, right? But when you buy orange juice in a plastic bottle, there's no sediment at all. This is apparently because heat and pressure are thoroughly applied, eliminating the sediment. As it turns out, Biore is made by Kao. Since Kao is the parent brand, and Kao also makes beverages like Healthya, they apparently applied the technology from their beverage-making division. So, by applying special pressure to this hard-to-dissolve antibacterial agent, they were able to effectively incorporate more of it so that it properly dissolves in sweat and water, resulting in a higher concentration than regular products. So, the Sustained Dry Mesh Technology quickly dries sweat even as you perspire. And the Sweat Antibacterial Stamina Technology means that the antibacterial agent, which dissolves more thoroughly and in greater amounts than regular products, suppresses the bacteria that cause sweat to turn into odor. Even if you sweat a lot, it suppresses bacterial growth, making this an excellent product that blocks both sweat and odor. Isn't that amazing? All this technology is packed into a single bottle. I've actually had the chance to talk with the technical staff member who developed this, and get this—it took seven years to develop this technology. Once you hear that, honestly, every time I use this, I use it while thinking "thank you" to that person. Next, sorry, this is my personal item that I've worn many times, so it might be a bit worn—but here it is. This is Wacoal's amazing innerwear. I really love this one and have bought several. Can you tell? It's genuinely special—so thin you can practically see through the back. There's also a cooling contact sheet on the back area that feels cool to the touch, along with rayon that feels cool when touched and quick-drying polyester, both woven very finely, so it dries quickly even when you sweat. Of course, this isn't just for underarms like the roll-on—since you wear this as an undergarment, it properly absorbs sweat from your whole body, like when you're nervous or sweating all over, and dries it quickly. It also has proper pads in the underarm area to help control sweat there, so I'd highly recommend it for anyone concerned about full-body sweating. Another great feature is something called "Polygiene processing," which provides antibacterial properties. This works by weaving silver ions specially into the fabric fibers. Since silver ions have antibacterial properties, this doesn't just absorb sweat—it also prevents the bacterial growth (that I mentioned earlier, which feeds on sweat and multiplies) from causing odor. It truly lives up to its amazing name. I actually have this innerwear not just in this greige color but also in white, black, and various other patterns, and I rely on several of these throughout the summer. The third item takes a different approach from the previous two and is another interesting odor countermeasure. This is Deoco Medicated Body Cleanse. Some of you may already know this one—it became famous as the "body wash that makes you smell like a JK" (high school girl). Of course, this body wash itself has a pleasant scent, but this pleasant scent isn't literally the smell of high school girls. There's amazing technology behind this. In 2017, a presentation was given at the 51st meeting of the Japanese Association for the Study of Taste and Smell, discussing things like age-related body odor—how the body odor humans produce changes gradually with age. So there's apparently a scent unique to young people, and the smell changes as people age. It was discovered and presented that young people's scent contains higher amounts of a certain substance, which may be responsible for that pleasant, youthful smell. It turns out that the source of this pleasant "JK" scent—the youthful fragrance—comes from substances called Lactone C10 and C11. This Deoco product contains these Lactone C10 and C11 compounds. So it's not that this sweet scent itself is the "JK smell"—rather, because Lactone C11 and C10 are included, even after the initial sweet fragrance fades, these compounds remain on the skin. The concept is to replenish these lactones, which naturally decrease with age, in order to restore the body's scent to that of a younger age. Amazing, right? This became so popular that even the phrase "Deoco Ojisan" (Deoco uncle) trended last year, with this body wash being used widely by everyone from men to women over 40 like myself. Incidentally, it seems my husband secretly uses it too. Here's another important point: it's not just about the scent—it turns out that Lactone C10 and C11 are also related to skin barrier function. When skin is exposed to UV rays or experiences friction, it produces an inflammatory substance called IL-6. Research data has shown that Lactone C10 and C11 can suppress this IL-6. So it's said that beyond fragrance, this product may also help enhance the skin's barrier function to some degree, making it an excellent product as a body wash in that sense as well. So, what did you think? Sweat and odor really are unpleasant, aren't they? I'm careful about this myself, but I know many people struggle with it. Each manufacturer has developed solid, unique technologies researching sweat and odor from various angles, and products addressing these concerns are available.
