Good evening. The first question is: "Your hair always looks so shiny and beautiful. Could you recommend any hair care products?" For shampoo, I've been using Vitalism for many years. As for the salon, I go to ZACC about once every two to three months. What makes ZACC special is not just their cutting technique—the quality of their treatments is fundamentally different. Regular salon treatments typically just coat the surface of the hair with polymer agents, but ZACC's treatments infuse the hair from the inside with proteins and collagen, truly improving the hair itself. It is a bit pricey, but I would recommend combining ZACC's treatments with Vitalism shampoo for daily use.
Next is a question about sunscreen: "I apply skincare, sunscreen, primer, and foundation in that order, waiting between each step, but my makeup still pills. At its worst, it flakes off in white bits like eraser shavings. Is there a drugstore sunscreen that works well with primers and foundations?" The pilling problem with sunscreen is a really important issue, because women always wear foundation on top. My go-to combination lately is La Roche-Posay as a base mixed with either a Jill Stuart pink primer or the MIMC Mineral Razor Balm in pink, and then I apply Cosme Decorté on top today. The foundations I've found that work well with La Roche-Posay are Cosme Decorté, Lancôme Absolue, and possibly Chanel. But this is just what works for me. Finding the right combination is really like finding a romantic partner—it's about the compatibility between your skincare, sunscreen, and foundation. I'd encourage you to experiment and find what works for you. La Roche-Posay doubles as a primer and has strong UV protection, so mixing in a tinted primer can be a great approach. The Sora UV Rose with primer effects is also quite nice.
Next question: "I'm a man in my 20s. I have severe acne scarring and texture on my face and am considering laser treatment. I'm also thinking about medical hair removal. Is it possible to have both treatments at the same time? Please advise on prioritization and downtime." For beard removal, alexandrite laser is generally used. For facial texture, fractional laser—such as short fractional or YAG peeling—is typically used, depending on the severity. Receiving both on the same day carries some risk, so I would not recommend doing them simultaneously. However, having laser hair removal done first and then fractional laser on the face one to two weeks later is perfectly fine. They just can't be done on the exact same day. In terms of priority, both take time—beard hair removal typically requires at least five to six sessions, and fractional laser for scarring requires a similar number. I'd say go with whichever bothers you more first; either order is fine.
Next question: "I spend every day visiting parks with my 1-year-11-month-old son. I apply sunscreen to him every day but feel a little guilty about it. Should I still be applying it? Any recommendations?" For a child that age, if you're not spending hours outdoors, physical protection like a hat may be sufficient if the sunscreen causes you concern. That said, recent formulas that wash off with soap are widely available. I used to use La Roche-Posay Kids, but it seems to have been discontinued. Bioré also has a kids' formula that claims to wash off with soap, which I'd recommend. Since higher SPF products can be harder to wash off with just soap, I'd suggest using a baby or kids' formula around SPF 20–30.
Next question: "I'm a woman in my mid-30s. How long should I wait for red acne scars to fade? I never used to have acne, but it started about three months ago. I live in a rural area and fractional laser is my only treatment option—is it effective?" Fractional laser tends to be more effective for textural irregularities, though it depends on the intensity. For red acne scars, I would allow about six months for them to fade. Wounds generally settle over approximately six months, so it's best to give it that amount of time.
Next question: "I work in visiting home bathing services and sweat heavily every day. I also commute by car. Even when I apply sunscreen, it washes off with sweat quickly, and it stings my eyes. If I wipe off the sweat and reapply, is that okay for my skin? Any recommendations?" In that kind of environment, I would strongly recommend combining sunscreen with physical UV protection. For example, applying window film to your car, or wearing a wide-brimmed hat that covers your face. Sunscreen alone cannot provide 100% protection, so combining it with physical barriers is the best approach. Wiping off sweat and reapplying sunscreen is fine for your skin, so please do so as needed.
Next question: "Is it okay to skip cleansing oil for a sunscreen that is waterproof but says it washes off with just face wash? It's SPF50+, PA++++. Do you use cleansing oil every day? Do you use a face wash?" It seems a bit contradictory for a sunscreen to be waterproof yet claim to wash off with just a face wash. Typically, waterproof products state that a dedicated cleanser is required, so I'd recommend rereading the packaging carefully. If the manufacturer explicitly states it washes off with a face wash, it should be fine in principle, but I personally haven't come across such a product. As for my own routine, I adjust my cleansing based on my makeup. On filming or recording days like today when I wear a full face of makeup, I use an oil cleanser. I don't double-cleanse—at night I use a cleanser, and in the morning I use a face wash.
Next question: "I have oily skin and am looking for a good toner. Any recommendations?" I'd suggest something with vitamin C, specifically water-soluble vitamin C. Melano CC is a great option and works well for oily skin.
Next question: "I keep getting a pimple in the same spot every time I forget about it. Is there any laser treatment that will prevent it from ever coming back?" Unfortunately, no. There really is no treatment that guarantees a pimple will never return. I'm sorry.
Next question: "I'm allergic to mineral (physical) sunscreen filters, which are supposed to be gentle on skin. I've been using &be UV Milk but it causes tightness and itching. Why would something marketed as gentle not work for me? What could be the cause? I do moisturize diligently. Chemical sunscreen seems to suit me better." I haven't personally reviewed the ingredients in &be UV Milk, so I can't say for certain. However, sunscreen formulas contain far more than just UV filters—physical or chemical. Without testing each ingredient individually, it's impossible to determine whether it's the mineral filters or something else causing the reaction. It's quite possible that some other ingredient in the formula—not the UV filters themselves—doesn't agree with your skin. Identifying the exact culprit ingredient in a cosmetic product is genuinely difficult, so if something doesn't suit you, the key takeaway is simply to stop using it. "Gentle" in cosmetics means it's formulated with care—it doesn't mean it will be gentle for everyone. There's no such thing as a product that works for absolutely everyone. Rather than &be being a bad product, it's simply a matter of compatibility. I'm sorry I can't be more specific without reviewing the full ingredient list.
