Hello everyone, I'm Arata Tomori, an internal medicine and dermatologist physician. Today I'll be introducing some budget-friendly ("puchi-pura") skincare items that everyone loves. About a year ago I shared some affordable toners I liked, and today I've found some new ones that I think are perfect for the mask-wearing era, so I'd like to share them with you. Let's jump right into the first one. The first product is the CEZANNE Skin Conditioner High Moisturizing. Isn't the size impressive? It comes in a huge 500ml bottle! CEZANNE is probably better known for its makeup products—I personally own a lot of their eyeshadows and face powders—but they also put a lot of effort into skincare. What makes this skin conditioner stand out is that it contains human-type ceramide. Ceramide is a well-known ingredient that strengthens the skin's barrier function in the stratum corneum. However, there are different types of ceramide, including pseudo-ceramide and human-type ceramide, and human-type ceramide is considered the most effective at moisturizing and reinforcing the skin's barrier. Human-type ceramide tends to be expensive as a raw ingredient, yet this skin conditioner contains it—making it a great value. For those whose skin barrier has been compromised by mask friction or moisture buildup, you can apply this generously without worrying about the cost. It also contains Job's tears (coix) extract, which has a soothing effect on the skin. For anyone experiencing skin sensitivity from wearing a mask, this is a great option for layering on liberally. The second product is the Momopri Moist Dense Toner. I came across this toner at a drugstore and had never seen it before, but when I looked at the ingredients, I was really impressed. It also contains ceramide, though unfortunately not the human-type. Still, having a solid amount of ceramide is a plus. What really sets this toner apart is that it contains Enterococcus faecalis, a type of lactic acid bacteria. Our skin has its own microbiome—a community of resident bacteria—and when this microbiome is balanced, the skin's barrier function is maintained. Research has shown that when the skin microbiome becomes imbalanced, the barrier function deteriorates. Studies also suggest that lactic acid bacteria can help restore balance to the skin's microbiome. So while ceramide directly replenishes the barrier, the lactic acid bacteria in this toner takes a different approach by supporting the skin microbiome to improve barrier function from within. On top of that, it contains retinol palmitate, one of my favorite ingredients, which may help improve skin firmness and elasticity with continued use. For those experiencing mask-related skin issues or dullness, this toner offers a triple approach: restoring the microbiome with lactic acid bacteria, moisturizing with ceramide, and potentially firming with retinol palmitate. The third product is the Nameraka Honpo Medicated Whitening Mist Toner. This one is a bit smaller in volume, but it's labeled as a "medicated" (quasi-drug) product. Being a quasi-drug means that the active ingredients are guaranteed to be included at regulated, effective concentrations. The two active ingredients are arbutin and dipotassium glycyrrhizate. Arbutin is a well-known brightening ingredient that inhibits melanin production and has recognized whitening efficacy. Dipotassium glycyrrhizate helps suppress skin inflammation. For those whose skin has become rough or stiff from wearing a mask, dipotassium glycyrrhizate can help calm the irritation. It may also help reduce inflammation caused by mask-related acne, which many people struggle with. Additionally, for those concerned about hyperpigmentation caused by mask friction, arbutin can be beneficial for brightening and whitening. This is a great choice for people prone to mask acne or those worried about dark spots. All three of these products are truly impressive. While I introduced them as recommendations for the mask-wearing era, it's really exciting to see how far affordable skincare has come—offering moisturizing, brightening, and even microbiome-supporting benefits all in budget-friendly formulas. I'll continue searching drugstores and sharing great puchi-pura finds with you, so stay tuned! How did you like this video? On this channel, I break down beauty and health topics in an easy-to-understand way, so please subscribe if you haven't already. See you in the next video—goodbye!
