【キュレル新作化粧水】約20年ぶりのリニューアル！最新のセラミド研究による独自成分「セラミド機能カプセル」を徹底解説します

皆さんこんにちは、看護師の新田です。今日は皆さんからリクエストの多かった、キュレルのリニューアル化粧水について深掘りしていこうと思います。私自身、今回は最強のリニューアルだと思っています。7月発売の際に少しご紹介して「すごいですよ」とお伝えしたところ、「深掘りしてください」というコメントが多かったので、少し遅くなりましたが、なぜこれがすごいのかを解説していきます。 まず皆さん、キュレルと言ったら何を思い浮かべますか？そう、キュレルと言えばセラミドケアですよね。敏感肌や乾燥肌の方は自分でセラミドを作る力が少ないため、バリア機能が低下し、乾燥したり刺激を受けやすくなったりします。そのため、乾燥肌の方はしっかりセラミドを補っていきましょうという考え方があり、その代表的なブランドがキュレルだと、多くの方が思っていると思います。キュレルシリーズには化粧水、乳液、クリーム、バームなどがあり、それでしっかりセラミドを補っていきましょうというイメージですよね。 そこで実は皆さんに知っていただきたいのですが、今までのキュレルの化粧水にはセラミドが入っていなかったんです。「え、先生、どういうこと？」と思われるかもしれませんが、説明していきますね。 花王さんが使用しているセラミドは「疑似セラミド」という花王独自のセラミドです。セラミドにはいろいろな種類があり、ヒト型セラミドや植物性セラミドなどがあります。花王さんは敏感肌や乾燥肌について長年研究しており、セラミドがとても重要だと考えています。ただ、ヒト型セラミドのように保湿効果が高いセラミドをたっぷり配合しようとすると、コストが非常に高くなってしまいます。敏感肌や乾燥肌の方にはたっぷりセラミドを使ってほしいという思いから、コストを抑えつつ大量に製造できる技術で作られたのが、花王独自の疑似セラミドです。もちろんヒト型セラミドも優れた成分ですが、たっぷり配合するという観点から、花王さんはキュレルにこの疑似セラミドをしっかり配合しているんですね。 ただ、セラミドはヒト型セラミドも疑似セラミドも、水にはあまり溶けにくいという性質があります。どちらかというと油に溶けやすく、無理に溶かそうとすると結晶化してつぶつぶになったり、ベタつきの原因になったりします。そのため、これまでセラミドを配合する場合、化粧水には少量しか入れられず、主に乳液やクリームなどに配合されていました。 キュレルは敏感肌用ブランドなので、ベタつきなどを好まない方も多いです。そのため、こちらにあるバームやクリームにはセラミドがたっぷり配合されていましたが、これまでの化粧水には配合されていませんでした。では化粧水には何が入っていたかというと、ユーカリエキスという、セラミドの生成をサポートする成分が配合されていました。つまり、化粧水でセラミド生成をサポートしつつ、クリームや乳液でセラミドそのものを補うという設計だったんですね。 でも、日本人は化粧水が大好きですよね。そこで、化粧水にもたっぷりセラミドを配合できないかと、花王さんはずっと研究を続けていました。 ここでピンとくる方もいらっしゃるかもしれません。以前、キュレルのスプレータイプの化粧水がすごいという動画を出しましたよね。「あれにはセラミドが入っているって言っていませんでしたか？」という声が聞こえてきそうです。実は、あのスプレータイプの化粧水にはセラミドが配合されていました。 どのようにしたかというと、セラミドを「ベシクル化」、つまりカプセル状にして水に溶けやすくし、特殊な機械を使ってスプレーに細かく配合できるようにしたんです。「スプレーにはできているのに」と思うかもしれませんが、スプレーはシュッと霧状に出るものなので、液体そのものにはある程度のベタつきがあっても目立ちにくいという特徴があります。おそらく、あのまま化粧水にすると、多少ベタつきが出てしまう状態だったのだと思います。つまり、ベシクル化して圧をかける技術はできていたものの、スプレーでなければテクスチャー的に問題があったのだと思います。 あのスプレーが発売されたのは確か2020年だったと思うので、そこから3年かけてさらに技術開発を進め、ベシクル、つまりカプセルの大きさをさらに小さくすることに成功しました。これにより、化粧水にセラミドを配合しても結晶化せず、ベタつきも出ないようになったんです。 さらに嬉しいのは、これまでスプレータイプだったため他の有効成分を一緒に配合することが難しく、また特殊な圧をかける製法のため大量生産も難しかったという点です。一時期、あのスプレータイプが品切れになっていたのを覚えている方もいらっしゃるかもしれません。それくらい大量生産が難しかったんですね。 しかし今回、さらに微細化する新しいベシクル化技術によって、特殊な機械を使わなくても化粧水に配合できるようになりました。そしてもう一つ、キュレルの化粧水には先ほどお話ししたユーカリエキス（自分でセラミドを作る力をサポートする成分）に加えて、アラントインという抗炎症成分も配合されています。実はこのアラントインは、スプレータイプには配合できていなかったんです。 今回、新しい技術によって、見た目は今までとあまり変わらないように見えるかもしれませんが、たっぷりのセラミドに加えて、これまで通りのアラントイン（抗炎症作用）、さらにユーカリエキス（自らセラミドを作る力のサポート）も一緒に配合できるようになったんですね。 簡単そうに聞こえるかもしれませんが、キュレルが発売されたのは確か2000年頃だったと思うので、20年近くかけて、ようやくここまでたどり着いたということです。正直、少しだけセラミドを配合して「入れました」と言うことはできたと思うのですが、敏感肌のことを第一に考えるキュレルだからこそ、少しだけでは意味がなく、しっかり保湿できる量を配合すること、そしてテクスチャーにもとことんこだわったのだと思います。 アトピーや敏感肌の方は、少しのベタつきでもかゆみを引き起こしてしまうことがあります。少し話が逸れますが、私自身、クリニックでアトピーの患者さんを診察する際、軟膏タイプとクリームタイプのどちらがいいか伺うと、「軟膏はベタつくのでクリームタイプやローションタイプのサラッとしたものがいい」とおっしゃる方が多いんです。同じ薬でも、テクスチャーが違うだけでかゆみを助長し、掻いてしまい、症状が悪化することもあります。敏感肌やアトピーの方は、ちょっとしたことでも症状が悪化しやすいので、テクスチャーは本当に重要なポイントなんですね。ですので、そこまでこだわって開発されたことは、本当に素晴らしいことだと思います。 基本的に乾燥肌の方は、化粧水・乳液・クリームまたはバームをセットで使っていただきたいのですが、夏場のインナードライ（皮脂は出るけれどエアコンなどで乾燥している状態）の方には、この化粧水だけでも十分な場合があります。この化粧水には「ややしっとり」「しっとり」「とてもしっとり」の3タイプがあるので、皮脂が気になる方は「しっとり」タイプを選び、目元などにはクリームを塗るだけでも十分な保湿になると思います。もちろん乾燥肌の方はしっかり乳液やクリームも使ってほしいですが、皮脂は出るけれどうるおいが足りないという方は、この化粧水だけでも良いのではないかと思います。 また、アラントインには炎症を抑える作用があるので、ニキビでお悩みの方にもおすすめです。油分を含むアイテムを使うとコメド（毛穴の詰まり）ができてニキビが悪化してしまう方もいらっしゃいますが、この化粧水はアラントインで炎症を抑えつつ、セラミドで保湿もできて、しかも油分をあまり含まないので、そういった方にも良い選択肢になると思います。 乾燥肌や敏感肌の方はもちろん、ニキビ肌の方や夏場のインナードライにお悩みの方も、今までの「ややしっとり」タイプだけでなく、「しっとり」や「とてもしっとり」タイプを選んで、しっかり保湿していただくのも良いのではないかと思います。 今日はキュレルの新作化粧水について深掘りしました。パッと聞くと簡単そうに思えるかもしれませんが、私自身、詳しい仕組みがよく分からず、実はキュレルの担当の方に直接連絡して質問したんです。ベシクルを小さくするというのは、言葉にすると簡単そうに聞こえますが、実際には非常に大変な試行錯誤の連続だったと、熱く語ってくださいました。どのようなバランスで配合するかというのは絶妙な調整が必要で、研究者の方も「絶妙なバランスとしか言いようがない」とおっしゃっていて、何度も何度も試作を重ねて、ようやく完成にこぎつけたことが本当に嬉しいとお話しされていました。 研究者の方々の熱い思いと、敏感肌の方にたっぷりセラミドを使ってもらいたいという願いが詰まった商品なんだと思います。この化粧水を使う際には、研究者の方々の努力が詰まっているんだと思いながら使っていただけると嬉しいです。 今日も最後まで動画を見ていただき、ありがとうございました。今日の内容が良かったという方は、ぜひコメントを書いていただけると嬉しいです。また「これも絶対に深掘りしてほしい」というリクエストがあれば、コメントで教えてください。それでは、また次の動画でお会いしましょう。さようなら。

Hello everyone, this is Nitta, a nurse. Today I'd like to take a deep dive into Curel's renewed lotion, which many of you have been requesting. Personally, I think this is one of the strongest renewals I've seen. When it was released in July, I briefly mentioned it and said "this is amazing," and I received many comments asking me to go into more detail. So, a bit later than planned, let's explore why this product is so impressive. First, when you think of Curel, what comes to mind? That's right—ceramide care. People with sensitive or dry skin tend to produce less ceramide on their own, which weakens the skin's barrier function, leading to dryness and increased sensitivity to irritants. Because of this, it's often said that people with dry skin should properly supplement ceramide, and Curel is one of the most representative brands for this. The Curel lineup includes lotion, emulsion, cream, and balm, and many people probably assumed all of these products were used to thoroughly replenish ceramide. However, I have to tell you something surprising: until now, Curel's lotion actually did not contain ceramide. You might be thinking, "Wait, what do you mean?" Let me explain. The ceramide used by Kao is called "pseudo-ceramide," which is Kao's own proprietary type. There are various types of ceramide, including human-type ceramide and plant-derived ceramide. Kao has conducted extensive research on sensitive and dry skin for many years and recognizes ceramide as essential. However, human-type ceramide, while highly effective for moisturizing, is very costly to produce in large quantities. Since Kao wanted people with sensitive or dry skin to be able to use plenty of ceramide, they developed their own pseudo-ceramide—a technology that allows for mass production at a lower cost. Of course, human-type ceramide is excellent too, but in terms of being able to use it generously, Kao has incorporated this pseudo-ceramide substantially into Curel products. That said, both human-type and pseudo-ceramide share a common issue: they don't dissolve well in water. They tend to dissolve more easily in oil, and when forced into water-based formulas, they can crystallize into small particles or cause a sticky texture. Because of this, ceramide has traditionally only been included in small amounts in lotions, and was primarily used in emulsions and creams instead. Since Curel is a brand for sensitive skin, many users don't prefer sticky textures. So, while the cream and balm (like the one shown here) have been packed with ceramide, the lotion did not contain any. So what was in the lotion instead? It contained eucalyptus extract, an ingredient that supports the skin's own ceramide production. In other words, the lotion supported ceramide synthesis, while the cream and emulsion supplemented ceramide directly—that was the original design concept. But Japanese consumers love lotions, don't they? So Kao continued researching for years, trying to find a way to incorporate plenty of ceramide into lotion as well. Some of you might recall a video I made about Curel's spray-type lotion being amazing. You might be thinking, "Didn't you say that one contained ceramide?" Yes, that's right—the spray-type lotion did contain ceramide. How did they achieve that? They turned the ceramide into a "vesicle" form—essentially encapsulating it—to make it more water-soluble, and used a special machine to finely disperse it into the spray. You might wonder, "If they could do it for the spray, why not the lotion?" The reason is that a spray disperses the liquid into a fine mist, so even if the underlying liquid was slightly sticky, it wouldn't be as noticeable. If that same formula had been made into a regular lotion, it likely would have felt somewhat sticky. So, while the vesicle technology and pressurization process worked, the texture issue meant it could only be used in spray form at that time. That spray was released back in 2020, I believe, and over the following three years, Kao continued developing the technology further, eventually succeeding in making the vesicles even smaller. This breakthrough allowed them to incorporate ceramide into lotion without crystallization or stickiness. Another great benefit is that, previously, because it was spray-only, other active ingredients couldn't be combined with it, and the special pressurization process made mass production difficult. Some of you might remember when that spray product was frequently sold out—that's how challenging it was to produce in large quantities. However, thanks to this new, even more refined vesicle technology, they can now incorporate it into lotion without needing special machinery. Additionally, Curel's new lotion also contains eucalyptus extract (which supports the skin's natural ceramide production) as well as allantoin, an anti-inflammatory ingredient. Interestingly, allantoin couldn't be included in the spray version. With this new technology, the lotion may look the same as before, but now it contains plenty of ceramide, along with the same anti-inflammatory allantoin as before, plus eucalyptus extract to support the skin's own ceramide production—all combined together. This might sound simple, but considering Curel was launched around the year 2000, it has taken nearly 20 years to reach this point. Honestly, they probably could have added just a small amount of ceramide and called it done. But because Curel is a brand dedicated to sensitive skin, a small amount wouldn't have been enough—they needed to include a sufficient quantity for real moisturizing benefits, all while perfecting the texture. For people with atopic dermatitis or sensitive skin, even slight stickiness can trigger itching. As a bit of a side note, in my clinical work with atopic patients, when I ask whether they prefer an ointment or cream formulation, many say they prefer cream or lotion-type products because ointments feel too sticky. Even with the same medication, a different texture can lead to itching, scratching, and worsening symptoms. This shows just how much texture matters for people with sensitive or atopic skin. So the fact that Kao paid such close attention to texture during development is truly commendable. Generally, people with dry skin should use the full lineup—lotion, emulsion, and cream or balm. However, for those experiencing "inner dryness" in summer (oily skin that's still dehydrated due to air conditioning), this lotion alone might be sufficient. It comes in three types: "slightly moist," "moist," and "very moist." People with oilier skin might choose the "moist" version and just apply cream around the eyes for adequate hydration. Of course, those with dry skin should still use emulsion and cream as well, but for those who produce enough oil but lack hydration, this lotion alone might work well. Allantoin also has anti-inflammatory properties, making this lotion a good option for those prone to acne. Some people find that oil-based products can clog pores and worsen acne, but this lotion combines allantoin's anti-inflammatory effects with ceramide's moisturizing benefits, without heavy oil content—making it a great choice for acne-prone skin as well. So whether you have dry or sensitive skin, acne-prone skin, or seasonal inner dryness in summer, it might be worth trying the "moist" or "very moist" versions instead of just the "slightly moist" type, to ensure proper hydration. Today, we took a deep dive into Curel's newly renewed lotion. It might sound simple when explained quickly, but honestly, I didn't fully understand the mechanism myself, so I actually reached out directly to Curel's team with questions. They told me that making the vesicles smaller might sound easy to describe, but in reality, it involved an incredibly difficult process of trial and error. Finding the right balance in formulation required extremely delicate calibration, and the researchers themselves described it as something that could only be achieved through countless experiments and prototypes. They expressed genuine joy at finally being able to complete this product after all that effort. This product truly reflects the researchers' passion and their strong desire to help people with sensitive skin use plenty of ceramide.
