2021年上半期 友利新的ベストコスメ スキンケア編をご紹介します。

皆さんこんにちは、友利新です。もう見てください、よいしょ。美容雑誌が2021年のベストコスメを書く、それぞれの雑誌がほぼ揃ってやり始めましたね。私もともとこういう美容雑誌のベスコスの審査員をずっと、もう10年くらいかな、やらせていただいているので、今コスメいろいろ見る機会も多いんですが、美的、VOCE、andGIRLその他もいろいろな雑誌でベスコスをやらせてもらってるんですが、私が入れたものと大賞を取るものでは微妙に違ったりするんですよ。私だけが審査員をしているわけではないので。なので、友利新的2021年上半期ベストコスメというのをやろうと思います。 ベスコスを私が審査するとき、結構前なんですよ。雑誌が今出てるでしょ、6月に出るってことは結構2ヶ月前ぐらいから審査しなきゃいけないので、こういうものが1位になったんだと自分でも雑誌を見ながら思ったんですが、あーこれ私1位にしとけばよかったなーとか、やっぱこれは1位でしょみたいなのもあるので、すごい考えて、いろいろ考えて自分なりにベスコスをこんな感じで持ってきたので1個1個紹介したいと思います。 ベスコスを自分で選んでみて思ったのが、めちゃめちゃ偏ってる。雑誌とかだったら化粧水部門も1、2、3とか美容液部門も1、2、3ってあるのでそういうふうにしようかなと思ったんですけれども、それだと時間も長くなるし一体どれが一番なんだよみたいな感じになるかなと思ったので、化粧水とか美容液とか一切関係なく、本当に私がすごいと思った5つをまず絞ったんですよ。そしたら5つ中5つが美容液だったっていう、かなり偏ってはいるんですけれども早速ご紹介しようと思います。 5位からいこうかな。めちゃめちゃこの1、2、3、4、5はすっごい悩んだ、悩んだ5つなのでどれが5位とかじゃないんだよね、もう全部1位単位なんですけど、あえて順位をつけるならっていう感じで選ばせてもらいました。 では早速5位からです。5位はこちら、ディオール スノー ユルティメット エッセンス オブ ライトです。これはあの、今年の2月に発売になって、その時からすごい注目していて、ディオールさんなんですけど薬用美容液って書いてあるんですよ。ディオールさんなのにって言うと失礼なんですけど、ディオールさんみたいなラグジュアリーブランドできちっと薬用って書いてるってことは、薬用部外品のきちんとした成分が入ってるんですね。なのでその薬用部外品で効果効能が認められている成分プラス、ディオール独自の秘伝のタレも入っているというものになります。じゃあどういう効果成分かというと、エラグ酸とアスコルビン酸グルコシドっていう、まあビタミンCの誘導体ですね。なのでそれの美白効果と、あとグリチルリチン酸ジカリウムでちょっと炎症を抑えるというものが入っています。なので美白の効果、そういったものでアップしていくんですが、もう一つは、ディオールさんというのはエーデルワイスエキスっていうものをすごく入れてるんですね。エーデルワイスエキス自体も美白だったりとか、こう炎症の効果が期待できる成分で、あともう一つがですね、私がこれがもう一番いいなと思ったのが、私何回も言うんですけど結構脂性肌でベタベタする人なんですね。これにはグルコン酸亜鉛というものが入っていて、皮脂分泌が活発な人は抑えてくれるということなんですよ。もちろん別に皮脂分泌が活発じゃない人はそれを抑えてカピカピになるとかではなくて、グルコン酸亜鉛というのは調節をしてくれるんです。多いものは調節をしてくれるというものが入っているので、油で毛穴くすみをするっていうタイプの方にもそれが、私なんですけど、私にはぴったり合ってるなっていうのと、あとはディオール独自の秘伝のタレとあとはしっかりとした有効成分が入っていて、やっぱりディオールさんですから香りもいいんですよ。ちょっとやっぱりデパコス独特のっていうんですかね、塗っているとほわっとほのかに香ってきて、少し贅沢な気分にもなるので、もうこれザ・デパコスっていう感じで5位に選ばせていただきました。 続いてはこちら、ポーラ リンクルショット メディカルセラム Nです。これも使い切っちゃったものなんですが、私これも2本目に突入しております。これはあの今年2021年の1月1日にドーンとまた発売になって、もともとポーラのリンクルショットっていうのはポーラさん独自のニールワンという、シワを作る時に好中球エラスターゼという酵素を出してシワができるというメカニズムを見つけて、それをブロックするっていうニールワンというものが配合されて、2017年かなに第1弾が発売され、それがどんどんどんどんバージョンアップしていって2021年でこれで3代目、4代目？あっごめんなさい、ちょっとその辺はこれだけの動画を撮ってるので、それで見てもらいたいんですが、やっぱり進化しただけある。もともとはニールワンっていうものは好中球が好中球エラスターゼですね、それをブロックするというものでポーラさんが認可を取ったんですが、その中でもう一つまた進化した時には、今度は傷が修復していく時にはコンドロイチンっていうものが関係していくってものを見つけたんですよ。なんでまぁちょっとざっくり話すと、好中球が増えていくとコンドロイチンが変化して傷の修復が低下してしまうと。なのでニールワン自体でその好中球を減らすプラス、コンドロイチンの今度は生成を促すために油溶性のカモミラエキスとあと油性のアルニカエキスっていうのをまた入れて、で好中球も減らして、それでプラスコンドロイチンも増やしていく、どっちの効果も相乗効果として言って作らなくするし、もしできてしまったら修復能力も高めるよっていうことになるんですね。私はせっせと毎日この法令線のところに塗ってるのは、ニールワンを研究している研究者さんの顔を見た時に、右だったら左だかどっちかだけ片方に10年以上塗っているっていうので、本当に右と左でお顔の仕様が全然違ったので、好きなね、こういう法令線とかで効くんじゃないかなと思ってせっせと、1月1日の発売からもずっと使っていて、もうちょうど2本目3本目に入るかなっていうぐらいの感じで使っています。やっぱりどうしてもニールワンってポーラのリンクルショット以外には入っていないので、これはずっとランクインしすぎるんじゃないかなと思って余裕にランクインしました。 続いてはこちら、資生堂のHAKU美白美容液です。こちらもさっきのポーラのリンクルショットシリーズと同じように初代出てからかなり時間が経っているとかもどんどんどんどんリニューアルしていくんですね。元々は2005年かに発売されて、もう本当に日本の美白美容液の代名詞っていう感じなんですけれども、もともとは資生堂があの開発した4MSKっていうのとトラネキサム酸ですね、それを配合して本気で美白に取り組みたい人っていう感じで出てきたんですが、今年はまたまたそれを何かも飛び越えてっていうか、もう本当にドンと飛躍したなっていうのが実は資生堂さんすごく研究をしっかりされていて、きちんとね学会発表とかもしてるんですよ。それがどういう発表かっていうと、私たち美容皮膚科とかでレーザー当てるじゃないですか。レーザーで取れたなぁと思ってもすぐに再発してきちゃうシミっていうのがあって、どういうシミがそういう再発が多いかっていうのを見ると、血管が増殖しているシミっていうのがかなり再発率が高いということを研究で見つけて、その毛細血管が多いとなぜいけないかっていうと、その毛細血管からウロキナーゼという刺激物質が出ていて、それがシミの再発に関係あるんじゃないかっていうことのデータを出してきたんですね。じゃあ毛細血管が多くなっている再発しやすいシミに対して化粧品でどういう風にアプローチしていくかというと、前から入っている資生堂独自の4MSKとトラネキサム酸だけじゃなくて今回はオトギリソウのエキスってものを入れてるんですね。このウロキナーゼというものがねいっぱい血管があるところで増えていて、それがメラノサイトを刺激するということを少し抑制してくれるということを発見したので、今まで治療してもなかなかちょっと改善ができなかったっていうシミタイプにもアプローチできるんじゃないかっていう、嬉しい発見をしてくれたという意味では素晴らしいなと思っております。感触も美容液なんですけどちょっとクリームっぽい感じで少しだけ油分が多いかなという感じはあります。ただ別にベタベタするわけじゃなくてすーっと伸びていくので、私自身はこの辺にやっぱり肝斑あるのと、実はここにシミのようなシミというか、まあもともとホクロだったんですけどそれを取った後にちょっと跡のような感じのものと、その横にちょぴっとシミがあるので、それを取ったりしているので、ちょっとだけでもねそれまた出てくるんですよ。だからそれをしないようにこういったところに全体的に塗っています。 では第3位になります。第3位はこちら、アスタリフト ホワイト ジェリー アクアリスタになります。もうこれ私大好きで結構いろんな動画でも何回もご紹介していると思うんですね。でこれね多分本ないのこれを使い切っちゃって2つ目っていう感じ、本当にこれ、これいつ発売だったの、結構早い発売だったと思うんですけれども、まだね発売も気になる時から使っていて、もともとそのアスタリフトさんというのはこのナノ化する技術がすごい上手でセラミドをナノ化してアクアリスタっていう商品があって、バリア機能を回復させるようにお肌をふっくら乾燥から改善させてくれるので、すごい好きだったんですが、それに今回プラスして美白ということも一緒にやってるんですね。有効成分がアルブチンになります。アルブチン自体もしっかりとね美白の効果効能を認められていますし、あとやっぱりアスタリフトって言われているぐらいで、この赤い色はアスタキサンチンの赤にもなりますので、そのアスタキサンチン自体もですね美白効果しっかりと期待できるものになっているので、それをきっちりナノ化をしたものに入れられるっていう技術は、このフジフイルムさんならではだなあっていうのが思えます。なので保湿もしたいしプラス、あのしっかり美白したいっていうことを機にはすごいいいので、もうほんとこれをねあの顔を洗って塗ると、次のね化粧水の浸透もすっごく良くなっちゃう、お肌自体がプルンと元気になるんですよ。だから本当に私にとってはすごくなくてはならない、お顔を洗って一番最初に塗るっていう意味では、かなり2021年前半使ったものだなぁと思うので、2位にランクインしました。 続いては第1位になります。やっぱりもう1年も全部悩んだんですけど、やっぱりこれでしょうっていうものになりました。第1位はこちらです、資生堂 バイタルパーフェクション リンクルリフト ディープレチノ ホワイト5です。もうねこれは私が入れたいというか私が欲しい成分がも全部入っていると言っても過言ではないんですね。私はもともとあのレチノールすごい好きなので、ビタミンAっていうのは必ずどんなスキンケアをしていても入れていくものになるんですが、レチノールといえば資生堂さんが結構もともとシワ改善で認可をとっているので、レチノールも入っているし、これちゃんとシワ改善美白クリームって書いてるんで、シワ改善はそのレチノールで有効成分をとっています。その他には資生堂さん独自の美白成分4MSKでトラネキサム酸、レチノールでしょ、あとグリチルリチン酸ジカリウム、トコフェロールというビタミンE、この5つがですねしっかり入っていて、トコフェロールとか結構よくしてで、あとはグリチルリチン酸ジカリウムは抗炎症で、トラネキサム酸美白も抗炎症もあるでしょ。で4MSKは美白の効果ですよね、メラニンを作らせなくするのと対処する働きも活発にしてくれるっていうものでしょ。で大好きなレチノールでしょ、すごいものが5つも入っているわけですよ。バイタルパーフェクション リンクルリフト ディープレチノ ホワイト5っていうこのパーフェクションって書いてある、本当にパーフェクトだと思う。これがあれば美白もだしシワ改善もそうだし、抗炎症もそうだし、本当に私が入れたいと思う成分がギュッと入っているので、もうこれはめちゃくちゃ私の中ではもうやっぱ2021年といえば神スキンケアもこれでしょっていうような感じで第1位に選ばせていただきました。 ベスコス5位から1位までご紹介しましたが、ほんと全部が美容液すぎて、偏りすぎじゃない先生っていうのもあったし、これだけだと足りないかなと思って番外編でいくつかまたご紹介しようと思います。 番外編は化粧水や乳液、オールインワンみたいな感じかな。まずは洗顔っていう感じなんですけどもざっくりね、一つがこちらイトリンのルリホワイトローションというものになるんですが、これも医薬部外品の美白化粧水でこれもアルブチンが入っているんですけども、それ以外に実はこのね、ちょっとわかるかな、少しだけ青っぽい色をしてるんですよ。青い色はアズレンっていう成分になります。アズノールっていう軟膏にも入ってるアズレンっていう成分があるんですが、それはもう本当に抗炎症なんですね。軟膏に入っているアズレンとは違って、これはジャーマンカモミールっていう植物から抽出したアズレンを入れています。なのでねもう本当に香りがすっごい良くって、よくある表面に膜を張ったような保湿っていうわけじゃなくて、最初は物足りない感じがするんですけど使い続けると本当に内側から保湿してるっていうことと、やっぱりマスクしてちょっと荒れたりするじゃないですか、その時にもいいなぁと思って、ただねちょっとねお値段がするなと思って今回ベスコスから外したんですけどもでも本当にこのイトリンのルリホワイトシリーズ、これ化粧水だけじゃなくて美容液とかも結構あるので、イトリンっていうブランド知らない方もいるかなぁと思って、本当に香りがもう他には多分ない香りだと思います。番外編にはなりますがちょっと紹介しました。 番外編もう一つがですね、こちらベアミネラル フィト レチノ アイクリームになります。このベアミネラルのフィトレチノクリームはローションとか美容液とかアイクリームとかもあるんですが、このフィトレチノって書いているのでピンときた方もいると思うんですが、これは植物性なんですけれどもレチノールに似たフィトレチノっていうものが配合されているんですね。でこれ実はベアミネラルって資生堂さんの参加だって知ってました？資生堂さんといえばレチノールじゃないですか。レチノールを研究しているところがわざわざベアミネラルでフィトレチノ、植物性のものっていうのがすごく面白くて、いろいろ調べてみたらやっぱりレチノールってもともとその刺激性があったりもちろんねそれは反応といって使い続けるとしっかりとねそれはなくなっていくんですが、それが出せないよっていう方だったり、あとはもともとベアミネラル自体がねそういうナチュラルなコスメを作ってるっていうところもあって、レチノールみたいな効果も出したいけれどもやっぱり肌に蓋をかけたくないっていう人のためにしっかりと研究をして作ってるのがこのフィトレチノなんですよ。で私もたまーにA反応がAをいっぱい入れすぎて出る時があるので、その時のお休みの時に塗っていると、レチノールの働き自体も使わなくなると落ちるわけではなくて、これがサポートをしてくれるし、あとレチノール使いたいけどちょっと心配っていう方にもおすすめかなと思って、もしかしたらベアミネラルさんでフィトレチノっていうのを出しているのを知らない方もいるかなと思って番外編でご紹介してみました。 であと番外編とは別にベスト5に入れるかどうかを迷ったやつを2つ紹介してちょっと終わろうかなと思うのが、これ一つがシャネルの ル ブラン セラムで、もう一つがイプサのMEになります。シャネルのこのルブランもすごい迷ったんですよ。でこれシャネルが大学と研究をしてアミノ酸代謝にすごい注目をしているのと、やっぱりシャネルのルブランシリーズといったらトラネキサム酸が入っているので、これね他のものにもトラネキサム酸入ってるじゃんってなるんですよ。若干ピンクっぽい感じの美容液なんですよ。で塗ると本当にこの内側から着色しているわけじゃないんですけど、ピンク色の蒸気したふわっとしたお肌に仕上げてくれるってこともあって、すっごい大好きなんですけども、ちょっとあーっていろいろ迷って迷ってもうどうしようだから、ディオールにしようかシャネルにしようかって、ここはもう本当にすごい迷ったなと思ってちょっとこっちもご紹介してみました。であとは本当私ベタベタ肌なのであんまり油分が入ったものすごい好きじゃないんですけれども、このイプサのMEシリーズは自分のお肌に合わせたその水分量という分量で乳液をチョイスしてくれるんですよ。ちなみに私は7番というものを愛用していて、ちゃんとなんか自分のその肌に合ったものを選んでくれるっていうのと、ちょっと乳液があんまり好きじゃないよっていう方にもちょっといいかなと思ったりして、すっごい迷って外しちゃったんですけどこれもちょっとご紹介しておこうかなと思います。 ちょっとね乳液が苦手だなっていう人には、ちょっとこのねソフィーナ iP の インターリンクセラム ポアリフティング モイスチャーっていう、このインターリンクセラムシリーズがあるんですが、これねポアセラムっていうぐらいなので、潤いを与えながら毛穴を目立たなくしてくれるよっていうものなんですね。毛穴っていうとなんか取り去るものが多い感じがするんですが、ちゃんと潤いを与えて毛穴を内側からふっくらさせるっていうことで、乾燥して毛穴落ちしたりする時あるじゃないですか、そういうのにもいいし、実はねこれね油分と水分のバランスをすごく整えてくれるようなポアミクロセラムっていうものが入ってるので、ベタベタもするんだけども内側から乾燥するインナードライの方にもすごくおすすめだし、ノンコメドジェニック処方なので、30代以降のねマスク気味もいいかなと思って、これも万が一というかもうちょっとかなり迷った感じでご紹介してみました。 いやーもう2021年上半期ですこそあまりにもあまりにもいっぱいあってご紹介しきれないものもいっぱいあったんですけれども、やっぱり化粧品会社さんが本当にしっかりとね研究開発をされて、2021年上半期も素晴らしい商品がいっぱい出たなと思います。特に今年は美白ものが多かったなっていうことと、どうしてもマスクっていうものがキーワードになってくるので、そのマスクを使った時に使えてすごくいいなって思うような化粧品がランクインしたんじゃないかなと思います。 Hello everyone, this is Tomori Ara (Yui Tomori). Look at this, alright! Beauty magazines have started announcing their 2021 Best Cosmetics picks one after another. I've actually been a judge for these beauty magazine Best Cosmetics awards for about 10 years now, so I get to see a lot of cosmetics through that. I've done Best Cosmetics judging for Biteki, VOCE, andGIRL, and various other magazines, but what I choose and what actually wins the grand prize can be slightly different, since I'm not the only judge. So I thought I'd do my own 'Yui Tomori's 2021 First Half Best Cosmetics.' When I judge Best Cosmetics, it's actually done quite a while in advance. The magazines come out now, but if they're released in June, judging has to happen about two months prior. So looking at the magazines now, I think 'oh, this is what won first place,' and sometimes I think 'I should have put this in first place' or 'this should definitely be first place.' So I thought hard about it and came up with my own version of Best Cosmetics, which I'll introduce one by one. When I picked my own Best Cosmetics, I realized it's extremely skewed. In magazines, they usually have categories like lotions 1, 2, 3, and serums 1, 2, 3, and I thought about doing it that way too, but that would take too long and make it unclear which one is really the best. So I decided to narrow it down to 5 items I genuinely thought were amazing, regardless of category like lotion or serum. It turned out all 5 were serums—quite skewed, but let me introduce them right away. Let's start from 5th place. I agonized so much over these 1-2-3-4-5, so it's not really about which is 5th or not—they're all essentially tied for first place, but I'll present them as if ranked. So, starting with 5th place: Dior Snow Ultimate Essence of Light. This was released in February this year, and I was paying close attention to it from that time. Even though it's Dior, it's labeled as a medicated serum. It might sound rude to say 'even though it's Dior,' but the fact that a luxury brand like Dior clearly labels it as 'medicated' means it contains properly certified quasi-drug ingredients. So it combines ingredients with proven efficacy as a quasi-drug plus Dior's own secret sauce. As for the active ingredients, it contains ellagic acid and ascorbyl glucoside, which is a vitamin C derivative, providing whitening effects, plus dipotassium glycyrrhizate to suppress inflammation. So it boosts whitening effects, but another key point is that Dior heavily incorporates edelweiss extract, which also offers whitening and anti-inflammatory effects. And another thing I really loved—I've mentioned this many times, I have oily, sticky skin—is that it contains zinc gluconate, which suppresses excess sebum production for people with active oil production. Of course, for people without active sebum production, it won't dry out their skin; zinc gluconate regulates sebum, controlling excess amounts. So for people whose skin gets dull from oil clogging pores—which is me—this is perfectly suited. Plus, it has Dior's secret sauce and solid active ingredients, and of course, being Dior, the fragrance is wonderful too. It has that distinctive high-end cosmetics scent that wafts gently when you apply it, giving a bit of a luxurious feeling. This felt like the epitome of luxury cosmetics, so I ranked it 5th. Next is POLA Wrinkle Shot Medical Serum N. I actually used this one up completely and I'm now on my second bottle. This was released on January 1st, 2021. POLA's Wrinkle Shot originally used their proprietary ingredient Nirvana... I mean Nieruwan (Niale One), which targets the mechanism where neutrophil elastase creates wrinkles, blocking that process. It was first launched around 2017 and has been continuously upgraded, and this 2021 version is the 3rd or 4th generation—sorry, I'm not sure exactly, since I've made whole videos about just this, so please check those out. But it really has evolved further. Originally, Niale One blocked neutrophil elastase, for which POLA obtained approval, but in this latest evolution, they discovered that chondroitin is involved in wound repair. To put it simply, as neutrophils increase, chondroitin changes and wound repair capacity declines. So in addition to reducing neutrophils with Niale One, they added oil-soluble chamomile extract and arnica extract to promote chondroitin production, reducing neutrophils while also increasing chondroitin—creating a synergistic effect that both prevents wrinkles from forming and enhances repair capacity if they do form. I diligently apply this to my nasolabial folds every day because I once saw a photo of the researcher who developed Niale One—they had applied it to only one side, either left or right, for over 10 years, and the difference between the two sides of their face was striking. So I thought it would work well for nasolabial folds like mine, and I've been using it diligently since its January 1st release, now on my second or third bottle. Since Niale One is exclusively found in POLA's Wrinkle Shot line, I felt it deserved a spot in my rankings. Next is Shiseido's HAKU Whitening Serum. Like POLA's Wrinkle Shot series, this has been continuously renewed since its original launch quite a while ago. It was originally released around 2005, and it's really become synonymous with Japanese whitening serums. Originally, it combined Shiseido's own developed ingredient 4MSK with tranexamic acid, aimed at people serious about tackling whitening. But this year, it made another leap forward—Shiseido has been doing thorough research and even presenting at academic conferences. What kind of presentation was it? Well, in cosmetic dermatology, we use lasers to treat spots, but some spots that seem removed quickly recur. Research found that spots with proliferated blood vessels have a higher recurrence rate. The reason increased capillaries are problematic is that they release a stimulating substance called urokinase, which is linked to spot recurrence—this was the data they presented. So how do they address recurrence-prone spots with increased capillaries through cosmetics? In addition to their existing 4MSK and tranexamic acid, they've now added St. John's Wort extract. They discovered that in areas with many blood vessels where urokinase is abundant, this extract slightly suppresses its stimulation of melanocytes. This means it could potentially address spot types that were previously difficult to improve even with treatment—a wonderful discovery in my opinion. Texture-wise, it's a serum but feels somewhat cream-like with slightly more oil content, though it's not sticky and spreads smoothly. I personally have melasma in this area, and there's also a spot-like mark where I once had a mole removed, plus a small spot nearby that I've had treated, but they tend to reappear slightly, so I apply this all over to prevent that. Now for 3rd place: Astalift White Jelly Aqualista. I absolutely love this and have introduced it many times in various videos. I've used up one bottle and am now on my second. I've actually been using this since before release, curious about it. Astalift is known for their nano-technology, particularly nano-sized ceramides in Aqualista, which restores barrier function and improves dry, plump skin—something I loved already. This time, they've added whitening benefits too. The active ingredient is arbutin, which has proven whitening efficacy. Also, as the name Astalift suggests, this red color comes from astaxanthin, which also offers reliable whitening effects. Being able to properly nano-size these ingredients is something only Fujifilm could achieve with their technology. So it provides both moisture and solid whitening benefits—it's truly indispensable for me. Applying this right after washing my face significantly improves the penetration of the following lotion, making my skin feel plump and revitalized. Since it's the very first thing I apply after cleansing, I've used it extensively in the first half of 2021, earning it 2nd place... wait, I mean it earned this ranking as something I couldn't do without. Now for 1st place. I agonized over this all year, but ultimately, this had to be it: Shiseido Vital Perfection Wrinklelift Deep Retinol White 5. This practically contains every ingredient I personally want in a product. I love retinol, so vitamin A is always something I incorporate into my skincare routine no matter what. Speaking of retinol, Shiseido has long held approval for wrinkle improvement with retinol, and this product is indeed labeled as a wrinkle-improving whitening cream, with retinol as the active ingredient for wrinkle improvement. Additionally, it contains Shiseido's proprietary whitening ingredient 4MSK, tranexamic acid, retinol, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, and tocopherol (vitamin E)—five ingredients packed in. Tocopherol works well, dipotassium glycyrrhizate is anti-inflammatory, tranexamic acid offers both whitening and anti-inflammatory effects, 4MSK provides whitening by preventing melanin formation and promoting its breakdown, and then there's my beloved retinol—five amazing ingredients all in one product! The name Vital Perfection Wrinklelift Deep Retinol White 5, with 'Perfection' right there, truly lives up to its name. With this, you get whitening, wrinkle improvement, and anti-inflammatory benefits all at once—it packs in exactly the ingredients I want. This is undoubtedly the 'holy grail skincare' of 2021 for me, so I've chosen it as my number one. I've introduced my Best Cosmetics from 5th to 1st place, but since they're all serums, someone might say 'isn't this too skewed, doctor?' So I thought I'd introduce a few bonus items to round things out. For the bonus round, let's cover lotions, emulsions, all-in-one products, roughly speaking. First is Itrim's Ruri White Lotion, which is also a quasi-drug whitening lotion containing arbutin. But beyond that, it has a slightly blue tint—can you tell? That blue color comes from azulene. There's azulene in Azunol ointment too, which is strongly anti-inflammatory, but unlike that synthetic azulene, this one is extracted from German chamomile. The fragrance is really wonderful. Rather than the typical film-forming type of moisturizer, it might feel a bit lacking at first, but with continued use, it truly moisturizes from within. It's also great for when your skin gets irritated from wearing masks. However, it's a bit pricey, so I left it out of my main Best Cosmetics list this time, but the Itrim Ruri White series—which includes not just lotions but serums too—is worth mentioning since some people might not know this brand. The fragrance is truly unique, unlike anything else. Another bonus item is Bare Minerals Phyto Retinol Eye Cream. This Bare Minerals Phyto Retinol line includes lotions, serums, and eye creams. 'Phyto Retinol' might ring a bell for some—it's a plant-based ingredient similar to retinol. Did you know Bare Minerals is actually part of the Shiseido group? Shiseido is known for retinol research, so it's fascinating that they specifically developed a plant-based Phyto Retinol under Bare Minerals. Looking into it, retinol originally has some irritation potential—though this typically subsides with continued use through what's called retinization—but for people who can't tolerate that, or because Bare Minerals itself focuses on natural cosmetics, they researched thoroughly to create Phyto Retinol for those wanting retinol-like effects without feeling like their skin is being 'sealed.' I sometimes experience retinol reactions from using too much vitamin A, so I apply this during those rest periods—it supports retinol's function without losing effectiveness when you're not using retinol itself. It's also great for those who want to try retinol but are a bit worried about it. I thought some people might not know Bare Minerals offers this Phyto Retinol line, so I wanted to introduce it as a bonus. Finally, let me introduce two products I seriously considered for the top 5 before wrapping up: Chanel Le Blanc Serum and IPSA ME. I really agonized over Chanel's Le Blanc. Chanel has been researching amino acid metabolism with universities, and as always, their Le Blanc series contains tranexamic acid—though you might think 'this has tranexamic acid too, just like everything else.' It's a slightly pink-toned serum, and when applied, it doesn't actually tint your skin from within, but it gives your skin a lovely pink, dewy, soft finish that I absolutely love. I agonized so much over whether to choose Dior or Chanel for my rankings—it was truly a difficult decision, so I wanted to mention this too. Also, since I have sticky, oily skin, I'm not usually fond of oil-heavy products, but IPSA's ME series selects an emulsion based on your skin's specific moisture level. I personally use No. 7. It properly selects something suited to your skin, and it might also work well for people who aren't fond of emulsions in general. I agonized over this too before excluding it, but wanted to mention it here. For those who dislike emulsions, there's also Sofina iP's Interlink Serum Pore Lifting Moisture from their Interlink Serum series. As the name 'pore serum' suggests, it provides moisture while making pores less noticeable. Pore care products often focus on removing something, but this actually hydrates and plumps up pores from within. This is great for when pores become saggy from dryness. It actually contains something called Pore Micro Serum that balances oil and moisture very well, making it great even for people with 'oily but internally dry' skin. It's also non-comedogenic, making it suitable for mask-related skin issues for those in their 30s and beyond. This was another one I seriously considered including. Wow, there were just so many amazing products in the first half of 2021 that I couldn't cover them all. Cosmetic companies have really been doing thorough research and development, and so many wonderful products came out in the first half of 2021. Especially this year, there were many whitening products, and since masks have become such a key theme, I think products that work well while wearing masks tended to rank highly.
