皆さんこんにちは、友利新です。今日は元祖デパコス級のプチプラである「肌ラボ」について、深掘りしていこうと思いますので、よかったら最後までご覧ください。 肌ラボはロート製薬から出ている超ロングセラーのスキンケアシリーズで、よく見かけるのがこちらの「肌ラボ極上ヒアルロン酸液」です。多分これが一番最初に出たバージョンだと思うのですが、去年か一昨年くらいに出た黄色いパッケージの「極上プレミアム」もあります。また赤いバージョンもありますが、そちらはどちらかというとアンチエイジング向けでナイアシンアミドなどが入っています。今回お話しする保湿メインのラインは「極上ヒアルロン酸液」と「極上プレミアムヒアルロン酸液」の2つになります。 この肌ラボ、結構使っている方も多いと思います。今でこそヒアルロン酸をスキンケアに使うのは当たり前のことのように感じますが、肌ラボが最初に発売されたのは2004年だそうです。この2004年当時は、ヒアルロン酸をプチプラの価格帯で配合するということがなかなかありませんでした。もともとロート製薬は目薬を開発している製薬会社で、目の中にはヒアルロン酸が多く含まれているため、ヒアルロン酸の研究をずっと行っていた会社なんです。ヒアルロン酸は肌に水分を引き寄せる、という意味で非常に優れた成分なので、それをお手頃価格でスキンケアに配合できないかという思いから、2004年に誕生したのがこの「肌ラボ極上ヒアルロン酸液」になります。 「ヒアルロン酸でしょ、だから保湿だけでしょ、プチプラだから肌には関係ない」って思っているそこのあなた。肌ラボのヒアルロン酸は保湿だけではないんです。 そもそもヒアルロン酸は、1gで水6リットルほどを引き込むといわれるほど、水分を引き寄せる保水力が高い成分です。少量でも自分の何百倍、何千倍もの水を抱え込むので、少し配合するだけでお肌がプルンとなるんですね。だから保湿の要でもあるのですが、ヒアルロン酸は分子量が大きいため、肌の内部に入っていくというよりは、角質の表面にとどまって水分を引き込むという役割を担っています。 2004年の誕生時もこの保湿効果にフォーカスして配合されたと思うのですが、ロート製薬は製薬会社ということもあり、「ヒアルロン酸は保湿以外にも何か有効な働きがあるのではないか」と徹底的に研究を続けました。そして驚くべきことが分かってきたんです。 まず一つ目は、ヒアルロン酸には炎症を抑える働きがあるということです。紫外線が肌に当たると炎症が起こり、その炎症がメラノサイトというメラニン色素を作る細胞に伝達されて、細胞を守るためにメラニン色素が作られます。これがシミの原因の一つになります。肌に炎症が起きていることを伝える物質として、プロスタグランジンやインターロイキンというものがあり、紫外線に当たることでこれらの炎症性物質が放出され、メラニン産生がスタートします。 ところが、ヒアルロン酸にはこの炎症性物質であるプロスタグランジンやインターロイキンを抑制する効果があることが発見されたのです。これは2017年に論文として発表されています。ですから、乾燥から起こる炎症だけでなく、光老化のきっかけとなるUVによる炎症も抑えてくれるということが分かっています。もちろん、最初のバージョンの肌ラボにもこの働きを持つヒアルロン酸が配合されています。 では2つのバージョンの違いは何かというと、配合されているヒアルロン酸の種類の数です。肌ラボはヒアルロン酸の研究を徹底的に行っているので、分子量の大きさを変えたり、イオンを結合させたりと、さまざまな工夫を重ねて、なんと7種類のヒアルロン酸を独自に開発しました。全種類配合されているのが「極上プレミアム」、そのうち4種類配合されているのが元祖の「極上ヒアルロン酸液」です。今お話しした紫外線による炎症を抑えるヒアルロン酸は、どちらにも配合されています。これが1,000円以内で買えるというのは、驚きですよね。 それだけではないのが肌ラボのすごいところです。もう一つのヒアルロン酸の秘密は、バリア機能を改善してくれるということです。「保湿するから膜を張ってバリア機能が上がるんでしょ」と思っている方もいるかもしれませんが、実はもっと細胞レベルのすごい話なんです。 2020年にロート製薬が開発した「発酵型ヒアルロン酸」、成分名としては乳酸発酵ヒアルロン酸というものがあります。これは乳酸菌を使ってヒアルロン酸を発酵させたものです。この成分が、皮膚の細胞と細胞をつなぐ接着剤の役割をする「カドヘリン」という物質の産生を促すことが報告されています。カドヘリンがしっかりあることで、細胞同士がぴったりとくっつき、隙間がなくなります。そうすると、外部からの刺激の侵入を防いだり、内側の水分が逃げるのを抑えたりできます。つまりカドヘリンが十分にあることは、バリア機能がしっかりしている証でもあるのです。反対にカドヘリンが減ると、バリア機能が低下してしまいます。 この乳酸発酵ヒアルロン酸は、単に膜を張るだけでなく、角質の奥まで浸透して、そこで細胞同士をつなぐカドヘリンの産生を促し、バリア機能を改善して乾燥などを防いでくれます。 まとめると、炎症を抑える効果、バリア機能を強化する効果、そしてもちろん潤いを与える効果もあるということで、デパコス並みのスキンケア効果が期待できるのが肌ラボなんです。ちなみに、この乳酸発酵ヒアルロン酸はお手頃な価格帯の「極上ヒアルロン酸液」にも配合されています。 それ以外にも「浸透型ヒアルロン酸」といって、角質の奥まで浸透してそこで自分自身のヒアルロン酸の産生を促すタイプや、「3Dヒアルロン酸」など、7種類すべてが配合されているのが「極上プレミアム」です。ただ、よりお手頃な「極上ヒアルロン酸液」にも、先ほどお話しした紫外線による炎症を抑えてメラニン産生を防ぐヒアルロン酸や、バリア機能を強化するカドヘリンを増やすヒアルロン酸はしっかり配合されています。 今は紫外線が少し落ち着いている時期ではありますが、年間を通してUVは降り注いでいて、目に見えない形でメラニンが作られています。そうしたダメージを一年中抑えてくれること、またこの時期特有の乾燥に対して、ヒアルロン酸による保湿だけでなく、しっかりと乳酸発酵されたヒアルロン酸が角質の奥でカドヘリンを作ってくれることで、内側からも潤いながら表面もしっかり保湿できる。これこそまさに元祖デパコス並みのプチプラだと言えます。 1,000円以内で買えるスキンケアとは思えないほどの研究と成分がぎっしり詰まっていることが分かり、私も改めてこの商品の素晴らしさを実感しました。肌ラボのヒアルロン酸研究の歴史を振り返ってみて、改めてすごいなと思いました。 皆さんも肌ラボを使っている方は多いと思いますが、「今、炎症を抑えてくれているんだな」「カドヘリンを作ってくれているんだな」と思いながら使うと、さらに効果を実感しやすくなると思いますので、ぜひ試してみてください。 いかがでしたか？やっぱり日本のプチプラってすごいですよね。そこには確かな研究開発がありますから、皆さんもそういったことを意識しながら、化粧品を楽しんで使ってみてください。 このチャンネルでは、美容や健康について皆さんに分かりやすく解説していますので、チャンネル登録がまだの方は、ぜひチャンネル登録をよろしくお願いします。それでは、また次の動画でお会いしましょう。さようなら。

Hello everyone, this is Chia. Today I want to take a deep dive into Hada Labo, a drugstore-brand skincare line that's often called the original "department-store-quality" affordable skincare. I hope you'll watch until the end. Hada Labo is a long-selling skincare series from Rohto Pharmaceutical, and the one you often see is the "Hada Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Lotion." I believe this was the very first version released. There's also a yellow-packaged "Gokujyun Premium" that came out about a year or two ago, as well as a red version. However, the red version is more focused on anti-aging, containing ingredients like niacinamide. The two moisturizing-focused products I'll be discussing today are the "Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Lotion" and the "Gokujyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion." Many people use Hada Labo, and while using hyaluronic acid in skincare feels like a given nowadays, Hada Labo was actually first launched back in 2004. At that time, incorporating hyaluronic acid into affordable-priced skincare products was quite rare. Rohto Pharmaceutical originally developed eye drops, and since the eyes contain a lot of hyaluronic acid, the company had been researching hyaluronic acid extensively for years. Hyaluronic acid is a wonderful ingredient for drawing water into the skin, and Hada Labo was born in 2004 from the desire to incorporate this ingredient into affordable skincare. For those of you thinking, "It's just hyaluronic acid, so it's just moisturizing—it's cheap, so it probably doesn't do much for the skin"—think again. Hada Labo's hyaluronic acid does more than just moisturize. Hyaluronic acid is known for its incredible water-retaining capacity—about 1 gram can draw in roughly 6 liters of water. Because it can hold hundreds or even thousands of times its weight in water, even a small amount can make skin feel plump. This is why it's central to moisturizing. However, since hyaluronic acid molecules are large, they don't penetrate deep into the skin—rather, they stay on the surface of the stratum corneum, drawing in water there. When Hada Labo was first developed in 2004, the focus was likely on this moisturizing effect. But because Rohto is a pharmaceutical company, they continued researching whether hyaluronic acid had other beneficial effects beyond hydration—and they discovered something remarkable. The first discovery was that hyaluronic acid actually suppresses inflammation. When UV rays hit the skin, inflammation occurs, and this inflammatory signal is passed to melanocytes—the cells that produce melanin pigment—triggering melanin production as a protective response. This is one cause of dark spots. Substances like prostaglandins and interleukins send the signal that inflammation is occurring in the skin, and UV exposure triggers the release of these inflammatory substances, kicking off melanin production. However, it was discovered that hyaluronic acid can actually suppress these inflammatory substances—prostaglandins and interleukins. This was published in a paper in 2017. So hyaluronic acid doesn't just prevent inflammation caused by dryness—it also suppresses UV-induced inflammation, which is the starting point of photoaging. Of course, the hyaluronic acid with this function is included in even the original version of Hada Labo. So what's the difference between the two versions? It comes down to the number of hyaluronic acid types included. Hada Labo has researched hyaluronic acid so extensively that they've developed seven original types—varying molecular sizes, adding ionic bonds, and more. All seven types are included in the "Gokujyun Premium," while four types are included in the original "Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Lotion." The type of hyaluronic acid that suppresses UV-induced inflammation, which I just mentioned, is included in both versions. And to think this is available for under 1,000 yen is honestly amazing. But that's not all—this is where Hada Labo really shines. Another secret of hyaluronic acid is that it helps improve the skin's barrier function. You might think, "Well, of course—moisturizing creates a film that improves the barrier function, right?" But actually, this goes much deeper, down to the cellular level. In 2020, Rohto Pharmaceutical developed "fermented hyaluronic acid," known by the ingredient name lactic acid-fermented hyaluronic acid. This is hyaluronic acid fermented using lactic acid bacteria. It has been reported to promote the production of a substance called cadherin, which acts like glue between skin cells, holding them tightly together. When cadherin is abundant, cells bond tightly with minimal gaps between them. This helps prevent external irritants from penetrating the skin and reduces water loss from within. In other words, having enough cadherin is a sign of a healthy, strong skin barrier. Conversely, when cadherin decreases, the skin barrier function weakens. This lactic acid-fermented hyaluronic acid doesn't just form a surface film—it penetrates deep into the stratum corneum, where it promotes cadherin production between cells, strengthening the skin's barrier function and helping to prevent dryness. To summarize: this ingredient suppresses inflammation, strengthens the skin barrier, and of course provides hydration—making Hada Labo capable of delivering department-store-quality skincare effects. By the way, this lactic acid-fermented hyaluronic acid is also included in the more affordable "Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Lotion." There are also other types, such as "penetrating hyaluronic acid," which penetrates deep into the skin and stimulates the skin's own natural hyaluronic acid production, and "3D hyaluronic acid." All seven types are included in the "Gokujyun Premium." However, even the more affordable "Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid Lotion" includes the hyaluronic acid that suppresses UV-induced inflammation (and thus melanin production) as well as the type that boosts cadherin production to strengthen the skin barrier. While UV exposure may feel a bit less intense right now, the sun is present year-round, silently triggering melanin production even when we don't notice it. Products that can suppress this damage all year long, combined with the deep moisturizing power of lactic acid-fermented hyaluronic acid that promotes cadherin production in the stratum corneum during this especially dry season, allow you to stay hydrated from within while also moisturizing the surface. This truly embodies the spirit of "original department-store-quality skincare at drugstore prices." It's hard to believe that a skincare product under 1,000 yen contains this much research and so many beneficial ingredients. Looking back at this again, I was reminded of just how impressive this product truly is. Reflecting on Hada Labo's history of hyaluronic acid research really made me appreciate how remarkable it is. Many of you probably already use Hada Labo, but next time you use it, try thinking, "Ah, this is suppressing inflammation right now," or "This is helping produce cadherin," and I think you'll be able to appreciate its effects even more.
