Hello everyone, this is Tomori Nitta. Today I want to talk about a cosmetic procedure that I truly regret having done, out of all the various treatments I've received over the years. Since I work at a cosmetic clinic and beauty is my profession, I naturally take skincare seriously, but I've also tried many cosmetic medical treatments. I've shared things like laser treatments, photofacials, hyaluronic acid injections, Sunekos around the eyes, laser treatment for pigmentation, and Potenza for pores here on this YouTube channel. Among all of these, there's one procedure I've regretted for a long time, and recently that feeling has grown even stronger: hyaluronic acid injections in the breast. About 10 to 15 years ago, hyaluronic acid was mainly used on the face—for example, to raise the bridge of the nose or shape the chin. With similar thinking, since breast implants require major surgery and carry risks associated with inserting a foreign object, hyaluronic acid injections became popular as an "easy way" to enlarge the breasts—for instance, to look better in a wedding dress by increasing breast size by about one cup. At the clinic I worked at during that time, we decided to start offering this treatment, and since we needed a "test subject," I ended up having it done on myself once. At the time, hyaluronic acid was believed to be fully absorbed by the body, so it seemed harmless. Indeed, right after the injection, my breasts became about one cup size larger, but since I was told it would be absorbed within about six months, I eventually forgot about it entirely. Later, after I went through pregnancy and childbirth, and once I turned 35 and started getting mammograms, I was told during a checkup that there was a "shadow." When they did an ultrasound, it turned out that the hyaluronic acid I had injected 5-6 years earlier was still there. The doctor said, "It hasn't been absorbed yet," which honestly shocked me. Furthermore, after I finished breastfeeding and my breasts became smaller, I noticed I could feel a hard lump myself. Worried it might be something malignant, I went to a breast surgeon, but it turned out to be the same thing—residual hyaluronic acid that had become encapsulated inside my body. Even about 10 years after the initial injection, it was still there as a palpable lump. With this kind of residue present, it becomes difficult to determine during each checkup whether something is new or was already there before, unless you continue seeing the same doctor. While it's rare for this to turn into cancer, the psychological stress is significant. Recently, more medical facilities have started refusing mammograms for people who have had foreign substances (including hyaluronic acid) injected for breast augmentation purposes. This could potentially lead to missed diagnoses. Ten years ago, we all believed it would simply be absorbed, but now that we know these risks exist, if anyone is considering hyaluronic acid injections in the breast, I want them to fully understand these risks before making a decision. Actually, I recently posted about this on Threads, and several people reached out asking, "Are you okay?" This made me realize how much people are concerned about this topic, which is why I decided to talk about it in more detail here. Now, hearing this, some of you might wonder, "Is hyaluronic acid in the face dangerous too?" First, I want to clarify that the type of hyaluronic acid used is different. I'm not against hyaluronic acid itself. However, regarding chin injections specifically, there have been case reports of bone resorption (thinning of the bone). There are several theories about this—that the hyaluronic acid puts constant pressure on the jawbone, that the hyaluronic acid itself affects bone metabolism, or that people with naturally smaller jaws may already be prone to bone resorption due to smaller muscle mass—but no definitive conclusion has been reached yet. What's interesting is that these reports are specific to the chin; similar reports for the forehead or cheeks are rare. For those who have had chin injections, spacing out treatments and using smaller amounts can help reduce risk. If you've already had this done, there's no need for excessive worry. Personally, I believe hyaluronic acid is never 100% absorbed—some amount always remains in the body. That's why it's important not to overdo it, and to have injections done by an experienced, trustworthy doctor who designs the treatment and determines the amount based on your facial structure. Today I shared the one cosmetic procedure I truly regret. I wasn't embarrassed to talk about this—I simply hoped it might help others who might be facing similar concerns. If you're worried about something similar, please don't suffer alone—get it properly checked out. Just in case, it's always best to get examined. Thank you for watching until the end today. This was a bit different from my usual videos, but I'll be back to my regular content next time. I look forward to seeing you in the next video. Goodbye!
