To get a bit technical, these amino acids bind to the basic sites of sugars and sebum, preventing carbonylation and glycation. Normally, amino acids within the body perform this function, but due to free radicals, this binding becomes less effective, leading to oxidation, carbonylation, and glycation. By supplementing these amino acids, they act as a substitute, taking the hit instead and suppressing oxidation and glycation. In other words, this cream doesn't just moisturize—it also contains amino acids that help maintain skin clarity by suppressing yellowish dullness, and that prevent the skin from becoming stiff, which can hinder ingredient penetration and worsen the appearance of wrinkles. Additionally, since this is an eye area product, they've also included hydrolyzed collagen to help add firmness. In aesthetic medicine, you may have heard the term "baby collagen," which mainly refers to type III collagen. It's a type of collagen abundant in babies and is the source of that youthful, plump look. This hydrolyzed collagen promotes the production of type III collagen, giving the eye area a plumper appearance. While this isn't as strong as an injection used in aesthetic medicine for baby collagen, it's still wonderful to be able to boost your own ability to produce it. To sum up: anti-inflammatory glycyrrhizic acid, wrinkle-improving niacinamide, moisture-boosting amino acids, two amino acids that suppress glycation and oxidation, and an ingredient that supports type III collagen production—despite being packed with all these ingredients, the formula is still designed to be gentle and safe for sensitive skin. It has undergone patch testing and allergy testing, so it should be reassuring for those with sensitive skin. The texture is also designed with sensitive skin in mind—it's not sticky, but adheres smoothly to the skin, thanks to two different oils with different qualities. One is a water-soluble oil called octyl palmitate, which is refreshing and absorbs well into the skin. At first touch, it might feel a bit firm, but as you spread it, it forms a protective layer while also absorbing into the skin. That said, since it's meant for the eye area, it does have a rich, creamy texture. If you don't have dry skin, you might find it a bit heavy to use before makeup in the morning. But if you have dry skin, applying it at night means it won't dry out by morning, and using it in your morning skincare routine will help keep your skin moisturized throughout the day.
