Hello everyone, this is Arata Tomori. Do you think that only UV rays cause dark spots and sagging skin? Of course, ultraviolet radiation is the biggest enemy for the skin, but there are other factors that cause dark spots and sagging. That is stress. Many of you lead rather stressful daily lives, don't you? Stress has a negative impact on the skin. For example, when stress affects us, the brain releases CRH, which is corticotropin-releasing hormone. This hormone stimulates the adrenal cortex to release ACTH, or adrenocorticotropic hormone. When CRH is released, ACTH increases, and when this reaches the skin, it stimulates melanocytes through a hormone called α-MSH. This increases melanin production. For instance, there's a disease called Cushing's syndrome where ACTH levels are elevated, and people with this condition experience hyperpigmentation even without sun exposure. While sun exposure is the worst factor, when stress is perceived and reaches the brain, it releases adrenal stimulating hormone, which in turn stimulates melanocytes to produce more melanin. This is the cause of dark spots. Another mechanism is that when stress occurs, mast cells in the blood become activated and release histamine. Histamine causes allergies, but in the skin, it slows down cell turnover, preventing melanin from being properly excreted. So stress not only triggers melanin production but also delays its removal, increasing dark spots. What I've explained so far has been known for a while, but recently, another mechanism has been discovered. Nerves from the brain through the spinal cord extend throughout our body and also into the skin. Some of these skin nerves extend into the epidermis. When there's inflammation in the epidermis, these nerves extend upward more and more. Between the epidermis and dermis is a basement membrane, which these nerves can penetrate, extending further. Even without a burning sensation, skin can become prickly or itchy due to this mechanism. Melanocytes, the cells that produce melanin, are located near the basement membrane. When nerves come closer to melanocytes, it triggers melanin production. When stress occurs, nerve endings release a substance called Substance P, which stimulates melanocytes to produce melanin. Melanocytes have extensions like limbs that not only produce melanin but also send it to nearby cells. Scary, right? Substance P is released not just from the brain but also from nerve endings in the skin, stimulating melanocytes. Even if we relax, take breaks, smell pleasant scents, or surround ourselves with greenery, we can't know if stress hormones are being neutralized. That's why we should address this through skincare. The newly released Cosme Decorte AQ Absolute series does exactly this, with a pre-lotion, toner, and cream in a three-step routine. What's amazing is that while Cosme Decorte's main whitening ingredient is koji acid, this series also includes plant extracts that block Substance P. These are Neem leaf extract and Pancratium maritimum extract complexes. By including these, Substance P decreases, making melanocytes less likely to be stimulated. Another complex of Pau d'Arco bark extract and golden extract prevents CRH from stimulating melanocytes when it reaches the skin. These two plant complexes block the melanocyte-stimulating factors we've discussed and suppress the direct stimulation from nerve endings in the skin. While skincare feels good, it can provide stress care to the skin even when mental care is lacking. Additionally, Amphacode already suppresses melanin production when exposed to UV rays, so it addresses the biggest factor—ultraviolet radiation—while also managing melanin from other hormonal sources. Stress also causes wrinkles and sagging skin. The stress hormone cortisol damages dermal fibroblasts. This happens because while cortisol has weak activity in the blood, once it reaches the skin, there's an enzyme that activates it. When cortisol binds to this enzyme, it becomes activated and damages fibroblasts. In the blood, cortisol remains inactive, so it's fine, but binding to the enzyme is problematic. So the solution is to prevent cortisol from binding to the enzyme. This enzyme has been analyzed and its structure is understood. Cezanne Public Organic developed Syncro Bloom Flower & Rich Cream by researching how to address this. Cezanne Public Organic is a brand that extensively researches plants. Since the chemical structure of the enzyme that activates cortisol is known, they identified what could block it. After searching through approximately 400,000 plant species, they found Primula extract. By including Primula extract, cortisol becomes less likely to activate in the skin, and dermal fibroblasts are less damaged. They also found that Crocostylis extract promotes dermal fibroblast production. So they use Primula extract to prevent cortisol activation and protect fibroblasts, while using Crocostylis extract to promote fibroblast production. This cream also contains niacinamide, which improves fine lines, so it approaches skin firmness and wrinkles from multiple angles. In addition to basic UV protection approaches—using koji acid in Cosme Decorte or niacinamide in Cezanne Public Organic—these brands have independently developed ways to prevent melanin production from stress and protect dermal fibroblasts. If you experience high stress, I recommend incorporating such skincare along with sun protection. So, how did you like today's video? If you enjoyed it, please give it a thumbs up, and if there are other products you'd like me to feature, please comment below. See you in the next video. Goodbye!
