Hello everyone! I'm Arata Tomori, an internal medicine and dermatologist. Now that it's getting cold, I'd like to introduce three bath products I recommend for warming up your body. You might be wondering, "Can one bath product really make a difference?" Recent research has shown that soaking in a warm bath, loosening up your muscles, and warming your body are actually key factors in achieving deep, restful sleep. Studies have found that sleep quality improves when your core body temperature drops. You might think that taking a bath would raise your core temperature and disrupt sleep — and yes, it does rise initially. However, your body's thermoregulatory system automatically works to bring it back down. Meanwhile, your skin (peripheral) temperature stays elevated. When the gap between your core temperature and skin temperature narrows, you fall into deeper sleep. This is why going to bed about 60 to 90 minutes after bathing is considered optimal for a good night's rest. Don't underestimate the power of a bath! With that said, here are three bath products that help you relax and warm your body. --- **Product 1: BATH Recovery & Treatment** This is a bath product containing neutral bicarbonate. Bicarbonate is essentially a combination of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and citric acid, and it has been shown to boost blood circulation. You may have seen hot springs labeled as "carbonated springs," where tiny bubbles attach to your skin when you soak — that's essentially what bicarbonate baths recreate. The challenge with making this at home is that household tap water tends to be slightly acidic, making it hard for the bubbles to form. What makes BATH special is that it neutralizes the water's pH, allowing the bicarbonate to release more effectively. When you drop it in, you can actually see fine bubbles forming — it's quite impressive. Bicarbonate is also said to help cleanse pores (though the evidence for this is limited). In terms of circulation, a study comparing bicarbonate baths with regular tap water baths showed approximately five times greater blood flow improvement over 20 minutes. This means you can soak comfortably in slightly cooler water for longer while still effectively warming your body — making it a great option for those who suffer from cold extremities or shoulder stiffness. --- **Product 2: AYURA Meditation Bath α** This is a well-known bath oil that comes in a distinctive two-layer form. Its main ingredients include mineral oil, glycerin, and palmitic acid, making it an oil-based bath product. As a result, your skin feels noticeably smooth and moisturized after bathing. The star of this product, however, is its scent. Aromas have a direct effect on the brain, making them a powerful tool for relaxation. After a long day of staring at screens — when your brain is in a state of overstimulation — soaking in a bath with this calming fragrance can help your mind unwind. In addition to its relaxing aroma and circulation-boosting effects, the moisturizing properties make it ideal for those concerned about dry skin in colder months. --- **Product 3: Bub Épure** This is a widely available, affordable bath tablet from the well-known Bub brand — but this particular variety contains a special ingredient: Epsom salt. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, which differs from regular table salt in that it contains magnesium. Magnesium is associated with relieving fatigue and soothing skin inflammation. Epsom salt is believed to be gradually absorbed through the skin, promoting perspiration — it's even sold as a standalone bath product. Bub Épure combines this Epsom salt with Bub's signature carbonation, giving you the dual benefits of improved blood circulation (from the carbonation) and enhanced sweating (from the Epsom salt). This product is especially recommended for those who feel fatigued and want to feel refreshed, or those who want to work up a sweat before bed. Many people today rarely sweat due to sedentary lifestyles, which can impair the body's thermoregulation. Making sweating a daily habit through bathing can help restore this function. If you feel like you haven't been active enough or haven't been sweating lately, give this one a try. --- To recap: warm your body with a bath, then aim to go to sleep 60 to 90 minutes later for the best quality sleep. If a full bath isn't possible, a foot soak or hand soak can also be effective. As the cold season sets in, poor circulation and susceptibility to colds become real concerns. Make it a habit to take a warm bath once a day and keep your body properly warmed. On this channel, I share easy-to-understand tips on beauty and health. Please consider subscribing! If there's a topic you'd like me to cover, a health claim you want fact-checked, or a product you're curious about, feel free to leave a comment — I'd love to turn your suggestions into future videos.
