Hello everyone! This is Tamani Arata. Today, ta-da! I'd like to explain a bit about this new, pop-style shampoo. Nomori-kun, which brand do you think this is? You'd think it's Korean, right? I thought it might be a newer brand, but originally it's actually from Kao! When I first saw "Kao is releasing this!" I just glanced at it and thought, oh, another Korean brand has landed in Japan, and kept scrolling. Then I noticed it said "from Kao" and thought, wait, what does that mean? About a year ago, I explained a shampoo called Cianthe. It used Kao's lamellar technology with a skincare mindset to thoroughly repair hair - that was Cianthe. Another one popular with younger people cleanses with carbonated foam - separate from that, it adds carbonic powder to supplement cleansing power with carbonation, and contains lots of keratin, giving it a very high repair effect. Cianthe tends to be favored by science-minded guys, and also science-minded girls - people who like ingredient-focused products. Melt of course has great ingredients too, but it has Kao's unique surfactant ratio and keratin-based repair ingredients firmly included, plus essential oils that give it a really high-quality scent, so it seems popular with cute, literary-type girls. It felt like Kao, having spent 100 years changing the history of shampoo, released these two products with a bang through natural science, and I thought that was it. But then this "Mimimi" came out, and I was quite surprised. Is it watermelon? It looks watermelon-like. Looking at it, you'd think it's aimed at young people, a package-driven product with pretty ordinary contents, right? But the contents turned out to be quite impressive too. So the packaging is cute, which isn't very "Kao-like," but I want to explain the contents thoroughly. Apparently this is the third installment after Cianthe and Melt. Indeed, Cianthe and Melt are each more geared toward people like us who are concerned about frizz and such things. But this one is apparently made for Gen Z. I'm Gen Z. Well then, isn't that great? But this shampoo was released for those kids to use. To begin with, damaged hair has less oil and a lower ability to retain moisture. Washing or drying it further strips away moisture and oil. You like wax, right? You need to remove the wax. Washing in a way that removes dirt while not damaging the hair is very important for shampoo. So first, it's based on amino acid-based cleansing agents - things like Sodium Cocoyl Methyl Taurate and Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Alaninate, amino acid-based cleansing agents as the base. These are gentle on hair and scalp and have decent lathering. Since damaged areas need to be repaired, hydrolyzed keratin and silk, plus Conchiolin, which repairs while washing, are also included in the shampoo. Also, when shampooing, hair can feel squeaky or hard to comb through, right? To improve that, polyquaternium-type ingredients are added, so even while washing, there's a friction-reducing base. It properly removes wax, but doesn't dry out the hair much - it's a shampoo that cleanses properly. But that alone isn't groundbreaking - such shampoos already exist. What makes this one revolutionary is that this treatment now firmly incorporates the lamellar technology. Nomori-kun, when you apply treatment, how long do you rinse it out? I want to leave the treatment on for a bit - do you wash your face during that time, or just use it right away? How many seconds do you spend working it in? Well, it's probably less than a minute when you're working it in. It takes several tens of seconds, right? It sticks well at first, but toward the tips it tends to become uneven. It doesn't spread well, but actually the tips are where the damage is, so if it doesn't spread evenly and settle in nicely before rinsing, there's no point. But most people can't do that properly, and especially young people tend to just do it quickly. It's tiring, so they end up skipping treatment altogether. In such cases, this product has technology that lets you spread it evenly in one go. Isn't that amazing? That is amazing. Normally, you'd write a big warning saying "apply for X tens of seconds," but they went further than that themselves. So Kao is saying "we'll accommodate you, we'll accommodate our customers" to that extent? It says "explosively blending treatment." So even with normal application, it blends explosively - that's the new formula. Explosively blending, amazing. Let me explain why it blends explosively even with normal application. Basically, normally you'd quickly apply it with your palm, spend about 1 second, then about 7 seconds working it in before rinsing - that's typical. From the manufacturer's standpoint, they want to say that if you work in any treatment for 60 seconds, it will blend in. But most people only do it for 7 seconds. So this time, they created a formula where even if you quickly grab it and spread it for just 7 seconds, the treatment properly wraps around the hair. That's what makes this the "explosively blending treatment." Normally, treatments need to contain both water and oil, so they use a lamellar structure. Even within lamellar structures, they used to use a lamellar structure that doesn't dissolve in water, but if you add too much oil component, it becomes stiff and doesn't spread well, so you couldn't add a large amount. That meant it wouldn't repair properly. So in the end, the challenge was that adding lots of repair ingredients (oil) made the spread worse and the treatment stiffer. But this time, they made it so that it blends in smoothly even with oil added. The key ingredients for this are a tertiary amine-type surfactant and concentrated glycerin. By adding these two, even with proper repair-oriented oil ingredients included, it spreads smoothly in one go. Just by working it in, the oil components spread out rapidly, thoroughly treating each strand of hair. Even a child using it can spread it smoothly. So even without knowing that such technology is inside, you can buy it for the packaging, and the shampoo shape is good, it properly repairs, and the treatment blends in thoroughly to each strand without needing extra time. When you actually use it, you notice - huh, the blending feels different - you can really tell. Then this makes you want to try it. What I want to say with this is: products with cute packaging tend to sell well, right? On the other hand, I feel like there are a lot of Japanese cosmetics where the contents are great but the packaging isn't quite appealing. So people end up buying based on packaging alone. But I think it's amazing that even while going for a package-driven purchase like this, the latest technology is included. I've been hoping that skincare would gradually move in this direction too. And the fact that Kao is the one doing this - sorry for being so rude about it earlier - isn't this the last company you'd expect to do this? Maybe they can do it if they try? Sorry, that sounded condescending. If you're interested, you can buy it at any regular drugstore. As for the scent, I thought it was watermelon, but it's not - it's red kiwi. Red kiwi. If you're not dealing with frizz but just concerned about damage, this Mimimi would be fine. But if you have frizz or dryness, Melt or Cianthe would probably be better. I thought this could be used safely by parents and children alike, so I decided to introduce it this time. I see. It's not a cheap shampoo, but I thought if this much proper technology is packed in with this kind of packaging, that's great. When the same manufacturer releases many products, they can end up scattered and inconsistent, right? But I was really happy that they're letting us choose like this. There was a period when shampoos from major non-corporate brands surged and became mainstream. But when major manufacturers put their own research front and center, it's very valuable for us as consumers, I think. So if you try to find what suits you, it could lead to a great discovery. So today, I really wanted to introduce this - surprisingly, this pop-packaged "Mimimi" from Kao, whose contents are actually amazing. On this channel, I introduce the latest cosmetic technologies like this. If there's a skincare or hair care brand you're wondering about, please let me know and I'd love to explain it. If you'd like, please leave a comment. See you in the next video, goodbye!
