脂性肌で毛穴が気になる方には、ピュアビタミンCやAPPS(両親媒性で油溶性・水溶性どちらも持つ成分)がおすすめです。

Hello everyone, this is Arata Tomori. Today I want to talk about pores—probably the number one skin concern for most people—and explain 10 ingredients that help eliminate pore problems, along with products you can use at home. There are so many concerns about pores: how they become enlarged, how to prevent them from opening up, and so on. Today I'll introduce 10 ingredients known to be effective for pores, along with cosmetic products that contain them. As I always say, there's no such thing as a person without pores. No matter how flawless someone's skin looks, pores are always there. However, by using effective ingredients, we can make pores less noticeable, and that's the goal here. **3 Main Causes of Visible Pores:** 1. Excessive sebum production 2. Disrupted skin turnover (cell renewal cycle) 3. Inadequate moisturizing Pores extend down to the dermis, and since the epidermis is essentially a depression, it goes through turnover. In a roughly 28-day cycle, cells are born in the basal layer, become the stratum corneum, and eventually flake off as dead skin. When this process doesn't work properly and the stratum corneum thickens, both the entrance and interior of the pore narrow. When excess sebum accumulates there, it makes the pore look enlarged. Normally, if you moisturize properly, sebum production won't become excessive, turnover won't be disrupted, and the texture of the stratum corneum won't become rough. When there's enough moisture, skin texture becomes smooth, and pores become less noticeable. By addressing each of these factors properly, you can make pores less visible—so let's go through the ingredients that address each of these issues. **① Vitamin C** There's Vitamin C derivative and pure Vitamin C. For oily skin types concerned about pores, pure Vitamin C or APPS (an amphiphilic ingredient that's both oil- and water-soluble) works well. For pure Vitamin C, I always use SPA Treatment's "Real C Serum," and for APPS, Dr. Ci:Labo's "V Essence Lotion EX" is a good option. Vitamin C is expected to suppress sebum production. It also helps with pore blackheads—since inflammation caused by sebum is often the culprit, and Vitamin C's anti-inflammatory properties help suppress the resulting pore enlargement. This is the ingredient I'd recommend trying first. **② Retinol** Retinol is a derivative of Vitamin A. While it's known mainly for wrinkle improvement, it's actually effective for pores too. Retinol normalizes skin turnover, speeding up a sluggish renewal cycle. For those whose disrupted turnover has caused keratin buildup, promoting proper turnover helps make pores less noticeable. It also boosts collagen and elastin in the dermis, helping improve sagging pores. Products containing retinol include Shiseido's "Elixir" and a recently discovered affordable option, Sana's "Wrinkle Turn" (containing pure retinol). **③ Niacinamide** Niacinamide is often associated with wrinkle improvement, but it's also effective for pores. It suppresses sebum production and boosts collagen and elastin in the dermis, which helps with sagging pores too. A well-known affordable option is Hada Labo's anti-aging line, which contains ample niacinamide. It plumps up the stratum corneum with moisture while suppressing sebum. Another great find is "Honey Pie Hatch Skip Serum," which contains niacinamide along with dipotassium glycyrrhizate (an anti-inflammatory ingredient) and honey-derived moisturizing components. Since niacinamide works better when paired with moisturizing ingredients, products like these that combine both are recommended. **④ Enzymes** Enzyme cleansers, like those from Obagi, are well known. Common enzymes include protease, lipase, and papain. Since sebaceous plugs (blackheads) consist of sebum and protein, protease and lipase break down protein while papain breaks down sebum. Ideally both types should be present, but if you're concerned about pores more than plugs specifically, cleansers with protease or lipase help reduce the buildup of sebaceous plugs that clog pores. **⑤ AHA (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, etc.)** AHA is a general term for acids like glycolic acid and lactic acid. Like enzymes, they have a peeling effect that thins out the stratum corneum. However, many AHA products are serums that you apply or wipe off, and they can cause irritation or stinging for some people, so caution is needed. For example, La Roche-Posay's "Effaclar Duo Ultra Concentrated Serum" contains lactic acid and also niacinamide (which strengthens the skin's barrier function and prevents skin troubles). Using products that combine these ingredients can further reduce the appearance of pores. **⑥ Glycylglycine** Glycylglycine was developed by Shiseido but is now used by other companies as well. People with excess sebum also tend to have more free fatty acids in their sebum. When these become excessive, they're known to cause skin inflammation. This inflammation can erode the area around pores, leading to "crater-like pores." Glycylglycine suppresses this inflammation caused by free fatty acids, making it effective for improving and preventing crater-like pores. It doesn't do much for clogged pores themselves, but it's very effective against the inflammation that follows clogging—so it's a good idea to use it after enzyme cleansing or AHA peeling. Products containing it include "Dr.365 Premium Essence C," which also contains Vitamin C. For daytime use, Maquillage's "Dramatic Essence Liquid" (a foundation) also contains glycylglycine. **⑦ Rice Power No.6** I previously featured Rice Power No.11 (barrier function strengthening), but there's also Rice Power No.6. This ingredient directly targets sebaceous glands and is known to suppress sebum production. It's recommended for young people or men with oily, shiny skin. A product containing it is "Ichihada Seiyaku Balancing Tuner." Besides No.6, it also contains glycerin and Vitamin C derivatives, so it suppresses sebum while providing moisture—making it suitable even for those with combination/dehydrated skin. **⑧ Aqua In Pearl** This ingredient is found in IPSA's "Time R Aqua." It's known for its high moisturizing effect, but it also suppresses abnormal keratinization at the pore opening (the "pore neck" area). It's an excellent ingredient that moisturizes thoroughly while also improving pore clogging. Besides IPSA's lotion, it's occasionally found in other Shiseido-group products. **⑨ Pyridoxine Hydrochloride** This is recognized as an active ingredient in quasi-drugs and is said to suppress sebum production. While Rice Power No.6 targets sebaceous glands directly, pyridoxine hydrochloride is better suited for those wanting to reduce overall facial shine. Melano CC is a well-known product containing it, and it's especially recommended for younger people concerned about shine and acne. **⑩ 10-Hydroxydecanoic Acid** This ingredient is also expected to suppress sebum production. A representative product is Curel's "Sebum Trouble Care Moisture Gel," which contains not only 10-hydroxydecanoic acid but also ceramide, making it good for those with dehydrated combination skin too—though it tends to be more suited for younger skin. Unlike Rice Power No.6, which is used more on specific areas, this ingredient is meant to be applied to the whole face for gradual sebum suppression. **Summary: 10 Ingredients That Combat Pores** 1. Vitamin C 2. Retinol 3. Niacinamide 4. Enzymes 5. AHA 6. Glycylglycine 7. Rice Power No.6 8. Aqua In Pearl 9. Pyridoxine Hydrochloride 10. 10-Hydroxydecanoic Acid There's no single product that contains all 10 ingredients, but I think it helps to consider your specific pore concern—whether it's excess sebum, disrupted turnover, or clogging—and choose accordingly. Combining ingredients is also important. As we head into a season with more mask-wearing and stronger UV rays, more people will likely become concerned about pores, so keep these 10 ingredients in mind and try incorporating even just one or two into your routine. How was that? Today there were so many ingredient names that I almost tripped over my words, and there might be one or two small mistakes, but I think it should be mostly fine. You don't need to memorize every single ingredient—just remember the ones relevant to you. I hope this was helpful. This ran a bit long, but I'll see you all in the next video. If there's interest in topics beyond pores—like dark spots or sagging skin—please let me know in the comments. See you in the next video. Goodbye!
