When it comes to anti-aging toners, you might think they're expensive because they're high-performance, but today I'm introducing affordable options—though not drugstore cheap. One is in the 1000 yen range and one is in the 2000 yen range. One is based on solid research and the other has amazing ingredients. Since aging occurs from various causes, it's difficult to stop it once it has progressed. Prevention and protection from the early stages are key, so please watch until the end. First, this is Orbis Essence Lotion. This is a newly launched product. Since it's an essence lotion, it has a slightly viscous texture. You can see it has a nice consistency. Even though it's viscous, it absorbs quickly without leaving a sticky feel. Instead, it provides deep moisture from within—it's truly a pleasant lotion. This essence lotion is developed based on solid research. Orbis is part of the Pola Orbis Group, and their research focuses on mitochondria, the place where skin creates energy. When mitochondria produce ATP energy, it promotes skin turnover and cellular renewal. Activating mitochondria themselves is getting significant attention in anti-aging skincare, and many companies are researching mitochondria. Orbis focused on autophagy—the body's ability to repair damaged components and regenerate them. Mitochondria also undergo autophagy, which is called mitophagy. Mitophagy works by forming a membrane around degraded mitochondria, breaking them down into amino acids, and then regenerating these amino acids to create new mitochondria. It's like a recycling factory—breaking itself down to create raw materials for something new. When mitophagy functions properly, even mitochondria damaged by UV exposure or aging are regenerated. However, as we age and experience excessive UV exposure, mitophagy decreases. After researching various plant compounds to prevent this decline, they discovered St. John's Wort Extract. This extract activates skin mitophagy, regenerating mitochondria that have lost vitality due to aging, restoring skin's energy production. Additionally, this contains dexpanthenol, a unique ingredient from the Pola Orbis Group. You may know dexpanthenol as a whitening ingredient, as it's found in Orbis whitening series and Alti Pola's White Shot. It works by breaking down concentrated melanin and improving skin metabolism to expel it. Next is the Time Secret Mineral Medicated Lotion. This is also a pleasant lotion. This one is more of a splash-type lotion that absorbs quickly into the skin. It's ideal for generous, full-face application. This lotion is labeled as medicated, so it's registered as a quasi-drug. It contains glycyrrhizin dipotassium as an anti-irritant ingredient and niacinamide for both anti-wrinkle and whitening effects. Niacinamide is recognized for anti-wrinkle, whitening, and anti-irritant benefits, but each product must have data supporting which benefits it claims. The fact that this product claims both anti-wrinkle and whitening effects means they have the supporting data—impressive! It's an excellent value because it controls irritation while delivering solid anti-aging care. The main moisturizing ingredient is hyaluronic acid, but interestingly, it also contains fucoidan from seaweed, which appears to be included to improve barrier function. The scent is calming rosemary. And get this—it's only 1980 yen! Despite the low price, it contains niacinamide at medicated levels and anti-irritant ingredients too. Since early aging typically involves inflammation leading to spots and wrinkles, being able to apply this generously makes it great for early anti-aging care. As I mentioned at the start, once aging progresses, it's difficult to stop it—it accelerates exponentially. So starting preventative care in the early stages with effective ingredients is important.
