Today's topic is essential for those of you who are doing skincare but not seeing improvements in moisture, or who have tried various things but still struggle with dryness. I'll be discussing how to enhance your moisture retention power that goes beyond basic moisturizing, so please watch until the end. First, when we talk about the foundation of skincare, it's definitely moisturizing, right? Providing hydration is incredibly important. When you think of moisturizing, you probably imagine applying toner and creating a protective barrier. However, this is just about providing moisture from the outside. You really need to create your own moisture internally. So what does it mean to create your own moisture? New cells are formed from the basal membrane and continuously grow. During this growth process, cells naturally produce ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and intercellular lipids—these are the sources of moisture. The key is that moisture sources are created during cell turnover. If the power to create these moisture sources is weak, simply applying moisturizer won't improve hydration levels. You need to enhance your own intrinsic moisture-generating power. To do this, turnover speed is crucial—it shouldn't be too fast or too slow. We need to optimize turnover while increasing intercellular lipids, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid. This is where Rice Power No.11 comes in, which I've mentioned before. By incorporating Rice Power No.11, your intrinsic moisture power improves. However, even with good hydration, there's another factor: barrier function. Some people have strong barrier function while others don't. Have you ever wondered what's different? Even when people properly moisturize and boost their moisture-generating power, their barrier function can still become unstable. This is because the condition of intercellular lipids deteriorates. When gaps form in intercellular lipids, barrier function decreases. Why do these gaps occur? External stimuli like UV rays and friction cause inflammation during intercellular lipid formation, which prevents proper ceramides from being produced. Long-chain ceramides maintain structure well, but short-chain ceramides don't form intercellular lipids effectively. Therefore, it's not just about producing ceramides—improving their quality and proper arrangement is crucial. This is what Kose's Serum Veil, launched in 2020, achieved. It uses Rice Power No.11 to produce ceramides, then incorporates Irine Extract and Longevity Grass Extract to improve the quality and ensure proper arrangement of the created ceramides, minimizing unevenness in intercellular lipids. To achieve this, Kose added acetylated amino acids—amino acids with acetyl groups attached. These keep free fatty acids in place near ceramides, preventing ceramide corruption while improving quality and proper arrangement with no gaps. In summary: Rice Power No.11 ensures ceramides and intercellular lipids are properly produced. Longevity Grass Extract and Irine Extract improve intercellular lipid quality. However, when free fatty acids deplete from intercellular lipids, remaining ceramides become corrupted, so this new formula includes acetylated amino acids to prevent ceramide degradation. This means maintaining quality while eliminating gaps—remarkable, isn't it? Serum Veil is truly a perfect serum.
