Hello everyone! This is Arata Tomori. Today's topic is everyone's favorite: 'Which one should I use?' A lot of skincare products came out again this year, so I often get questions like 'These two products seem to have similar functions, but which one should I use?' Today I'll be explaining which one to use between the newly released SOFINA iP Overnight Penetration Cream and Minon Moist Charge Cream, and also comparing Hada Labo Shirojun Premium Medicated Brightening Essence Lotion with Shiseido Aqua Label Treatment Lotion Bright. Please watch until the end. First, about SOFINA iP and Minon - both are brands aimed at people with dry skin. Minon in particular is aimed at those with dry, sensitive skin, while SOFINA iP, while not exactly for sensitive skin, is also for anti-dryness measures. This time, especially as a night cream, it claims to properly align the lamellar structure of the stratum corneum and promote the production of ceramide needed for that lamellar structure. When the keratin fibers of stratum corneum cells are properly open, they can hold moisture, which suppresses water evaporation from the skin. So the key point is opening up the keratin fibers to make it easier to hold moisture. It also contains ceramide-functional ingredients that arrange the lamellar structure, and it also has the effect of making your own ceramide denser. So it's an item that rebuilds ceramide itself and leads to strengthened barrier function. Another point is that it contains high-function eucalyptus extract. Originally, eucalyptus extract was researched by Kao, and it's known that regular eucalyptus extract promotes ceramide production. But for the 'high-function' version, they investigated about 1,000 types of extract components to find out which active ingredients contribute to this effect, and found that a component called Macrocarpal A within eucalyptus extract not only promotes ceramide production but also suppresses ceramide breakdown. So they concentrated this Macrocarpal A to give it even more functionality, creating the high-function eucalyptus extract. This means it not only promotes original ceramide production but also suppresses ceramide breakdown, creating a positive cycle that produces even better ceramide. On the other hand, with Minon's Moist Charge Cream, what's wonderful about Minon is the oils it contains. Things like shea oil and jojoba seed oil - the melting feel of the fats, the rich texture, seems to be trending. Besides the combination of oils, the ingredients are also excellent - it contains plenty of amino acids. Ingredients like serine, PCA-Na, alanine, and glycine are included, which are components that become the source of skin ceramide and intercellular lipids. In that sense, it's a bit similar to SOFINA iP, but rather than ceramide itself, this one contains amino acids that become the source of intercellular lipids, combined with emollient ingredients like squalane and shea oil to create a rich texture, while also aiming to boost your own intercellular lipids. So you might think 'can't I just use either one? Doesn't it matter which?' Well, in terms of texture differences, one is a bit more watery and the other richer, but that's not quite it - the real difference emerges based on your next-level concerns. This one (SOFINA iP) seems to be formulated to care for the stratum corneum and epidermis, aiming for firmness in the dermis. So for those who want to care for inflammation while boosting the stratum corneum's barrier function and achieve firmness, I'd recommend SOFINA iP. As for the other one, if you want to address dullness, I think Minon would be better. When collagen and elastin in the dermis get glycated with sugar, it causes dullness. The amino acid Lysine HCl contained in this product is said to be effective against this dullness-causing glycation. So while both moisturize similarly, one focuses on firmness and the other on anti-glycation dullness care - I think you should choose based on which concern you prioritize. Next, these two look similar with their blue packaging, and both are whitening lotions. This one uses glycyrrhetinic acid stearyl, an anti-inflammatory ingredient as its base, which suppresses melanin production. The other one contains 4MSK, a whitening active ingredient originally developed by Shiseido. So you might think 'they're both just whitening products,' but here's how I would differentiate their use: people with oily skin might find the Brightening Essence Lotion more pleasant, while Aqua Label is a bit more moisturizing, suitable for dry skin - but that's not really the main point. The key is that glycyrrhetinic acid stearyl works instantly on inflammation. So it's great for soothing your skin right after sun exposure - I remember using it once when I went skiing, since ski resorts have really intense UV rays, and it calmed my skin down. Also, if I'm visiting my hometown in Okinawa, or on days when I know I'll experience inflammation, I'd use this one generously. On the other hand, 4MSK is more about whitening - it's also whitening, but the inflammation aspect isn't as strong. So while you'd use the first one liberally for calming inflammation, 4MSK is better for preventing existing dark spots from getting worse - it doesn't quite promote melanin production, but it has a peeling effect that provides a boost. So if you're currently troubled by dark spots, this one might suit you better; and for those who will be exposed to UV rays going forward, this might be more appropriate. So even though both are whitening products, if I were to use them, I'd use the first one as a 'rescue' item, and for those who want to slowly whiten over time, this one would feel more fitting. So that's my introduction to products people asked me to compare. If there's anything else you'd like me to compare, please write it in the comments section - I'd be happy to see your requests. See you in the next video. Goodbye! Thank you for watching with subtitles.
