Good evening. I work on the computer during the day, so should I use sunscreen with blue light protection? My favorite department store cosmetic brand's sunscreen doesn't have blue light protection, and it seems there are few products among department store cosmetics that emphasize blue light protection, so I'm concerned.
Honestly, I understand that blue light is probably bad for skin, but exactly how it's bad is still largely unknown. However, since there's a possibility it's harmful, it makes sense to protect against it now while we can. For example, if your favorite sunscreen doesn't have blue light protection, how about attaching a blue light cutting filter to your computer instead?
I do skincare in the order of essence lotion, lotion, serum, and emulsion, but some ingredients seem to be slow to dry, so my serum doesn't dry easily. I apply emulsion after about 5 minutes has passed, but is it better to apply emulsion only after it's completely dry? Does a slow-drying serum mean it has a lot of oil content?
I think so. So I think it would be good to observe your own skin again to see if you really need emulsion. Some skin types are fine with just serum. Even I sometimes just use serum when my skin is oily and shiny in summer.
I'm a male office worker. Since the pandemic started, my skin has gotten irritated from wearing masks, so I've been working hard on skincare while getting skin diagnoses at IPSA. However, my water retention capacity notification doesn't improve much. Is this just because I'm male? Please tell me how to improve water retention capacity.
It's true that men tend to produce more oil, but their ability to retain moisture is lower. When oil disappears, dryness tends to occur easily - this is inherent to the skin type. I also think inner care is necessary. If you want to improve moisture through inner care, I'd recommend Hyalmoist from Mishin or omega-3 type supplements. Active Supplement has omega-3, so please try that.
Good evening, doctor. I'm going to get beauty needling done next time based on a friend's recommendation. Have you had beauty needling done, doctor? What do you think about beauty needling? Please tell me if there are any demerits or merits. Also, please tell me if there's any recommended skincare after beauty needling.
I think there are two types of beauty needling. One stimulates muscles to lift the face instantly, lasting about 1-2 days, so it's good before a date or photo shoot. Beauty needling uses very thin needles to insert, so when you create a wound, the skin has regenerative ability to heal, which is beneficial in these two ways. So it's the skin activation and the lifting effect from muscle reflex. After treatment, using a serum containing vitamin C, vitamin A, or those "secret sauce" ingredients that department store cosmetics have would be even better.
Good evening, I have atopic dermatitis and redness on my skin, especially on my forehead, won't heal. Please tell me what could be the cause.
First, if there's itching from atopic dermatitis, I think it's better to properly treat it with steroids, so please consult your primary doctor. If there's no itching but only redness remains, it might be post-inflammatory pigmentation, so in that case, moisturize thoroughly, confirm there's no itching, and then use whitening skincare products.
Please tell me ingredients to incorporate in skincare for someone in their 20s. I want to become glowing in my 30s and 40s.
Then vitamin C and vitamin A, I think. Also for wrinkle prevention, niacinamide or something that works slowly would be good.
Um, Dr. Tomori often recommends the soy isoflavone series, so I'd like to try it, but I have an allergic constitution, so I'm worried about developing a soy allergy. Percutaneous sensitization to wheat is well-known, but is soy also likely to cause reactions?
As long as there's no inflammation on the skin, I think it should be fine. If you have a soy allergy, you should avoid it, but I don't think using it would cause you to develop one, so please feel reassured.
Dr. Tomori, good evening. It's been a year since I had shingles on my face, and there are parts of my skin that have become cratered. Will beauty treatment improve this? Is there no remaining pain? Are you okay?
Shingles is when the herpes virus stays at the root of the nerve and causes trouble - blisters form and can be itchy, and after healing there can be a tingling sensation. Post-herpetic neuralgia can be an issue, and facial paralysis can occur with facial shingles, so if none of that has happened, that's a relief. I think it's more like post-inflammatory pigmentation rather than craters, so first, what you can do is whitening treatment to remove the discoloration. If it's really become cratered, you might consider fractional laser or Dermapen treatments.
I'm a 19-year-old university student. I've had severe acne since elementary school, and now I have blackhead-like plugs on my nose and across my forehead and whole face. Is there a way to improve this? Also, I'm concerned about pore and acne scars, so I'm thinking of trying Zo Skin, but is it too early to use?
No, I don't think it's too early. However, since you have blackhead-like plugs on your forehead and whole face, I think you should first see a dermatologist and have them determine whether peeling is appropriate before using Zo Skin as well. Please visit a hospital first. Starting Zo Skin isn't too early, but please make sure to use Zo Skin only under a doctor's diagnosis.
Dr. Tomori, good evening. I'm currently 22 years old, and I'm wondering if decollete breast augmentation would be effective for breasts that have shrunk from dieting. I think it might be too early age-wise given how breast augmentation works, but I'm anxious to do something about it. Are there any medical approaches besides surgical incision?
Breast augmentation lifts sagging tissue, so it's not really for shrunken breasts. Breasts basically require gaining weight - honestly that's the only way. Otherwise, you'd need to get real surgery done. If you lose weight, since breasts are fat, they'll disappear. What can be done medically would be things like hyaluronic acid injections. So I wouldn't really recommend dieting.
I've had Dermapen treatment several times and my acne scars have improved a lot. Next, I'd like to try Zo Skin. I'd like to hear your thoughts on Zo Skin.
It's more about whitening rather than acne scars, I'd say. I think Zo Skin is skincare that involves downtime, so it depends on how you use it. It's skincare that requires diagnosis and guidance, so I do use it myself sometimes, but it's something patients need to be prepared to commit to. Depending on usage, downtime can occur, so you need to have a proper discussion about whether you want downtime for faster short-term results, or whether you're okay with longer-term results without downtime, before trying Zo Skin.
I've never gotten along with any oil, and no matter what cleansing oil or serum I use, my skin gets dry. Are there skin types that don't suit oil? Or is my usage method wrong? I don't have dry skin - my T-zone isn't dry at all, I have combination skin. My skin gets rough during seasonal transitions - is there any recommended care?
Oil is essentially oil, right? Since skin itself produces oil, I don't think it's a case of oil not suiting you - I think you might just be reacting to the oil content in whatever oil product you happened to use. I think it would be good to try various types of oils. As for skin getting rough, I think it would be good to incorporate some peeling products. If you have combination skin rather than dry skin, I think it would be good to use peeling-type products. If you don't want anything too aggressive, I'd recommend the Peel Lotion from Spa Treatment for exfoliating care. If you don't like oil, Water Mate wouldn't be too high in oil content, so I think Water Mate would be suitable.
