"If you have all three, wouldn't that be the strongest?" like that. Oxygen is really important. You end up wanting to take a deep breath, right? That's so true. In the venue. My admired channel name. Just a little. Really. Mitochondria are amazing. Mitochondria are really amazing. Europe's unique sensibility and research alignment is wonderful.
Hello everyone, I'm Aratom. Today we're here again. At the Dior Scientific Conference 2025. In both 2023 and 2024, I watched Dior's latest research being presented at their Scientific Conference on YouTube, and of course I'm doing it again this year. It's being held in Japan, but not just in Japan—people from America, France, and various countries around the world—press members and journalists are gathering, and everyone is paying attention. Normally this wouldn't be open to the public, but I've been specially allowed to do this on my YouTube channel every year. To be honest, I don't know what science will be presented today, so I'm already extremely excited and looking forward to it. Let me take a look at the venue. It's lovely again this year. Dior Science really works with all kinds of researchers. Regenerative medicine doctors, research with the iPS cell-famous Sai-ra from Kyoto University, and from a medical perspective, I'm really looking forward to it.
Because it's so amazing, there are things I want to review. When it comes to Dior, it's this Reverse Aging. It's not stopping aging—it's rewinding your age, making you younger. So it's not anti-aging. Board members have researched this and conducted Reverse Aging research, with each specialist researching in their own field. These are called the 12 items necessary for Reverse Aging. For example, "Inflammation" refers to micro-inflammation. Often when there's inflammation, aging progresses, so we should stop inflammation, and the skin's microbiome, the skin's resident bacteria—of course Dior is working on this too. But the point is this stem cell, stem cells. Dior, as it says here, has conducted 20 years of research on skin stem cells, so they're pioneers. As stem cell research progressed, they focused on oxygen carriers. They focused on carriers that transport the appropriate amount, increasing these carriers—that was the science up until last year.
By increasing these carriers, by appropriately delivering oxygen to cells, increasing respiration, nerve regeneration and barrier function regeneration. When the nerve regenerates, it promotes Type I collagen production. In other words, they found technology to boost collagen, essentially. In 2025, because there's been a lot of focus on boosting collagen, Dior is also approaching it by increasing oxygen carriers, so they'll probably discuss the next step at today's conference. I'm already excited wondering what kind of research it is. Since it's about to start, let me head over there.
It was really amazing this time. Diving deep into oxygen carriers, plus this time it's definitely collagen. The 4 types of collagen are so groundbreaking that I can't hide my emotion. But since there are various press members here, let me try to interview them directly.
Dolce's Miyo has arrived. Hello. It was amazing again this time, wasn't it? Would you give me a brief impression? It's the third installment of the Shot Series, kind of like "If you have all three, wouldn't that be the strongest?" And I thought the 4 types of collagen were really interesting. It was interesting. The eye area tends to show fatigue a bit. And it decreases from age 25, I guess next year? Next year collagen will start decreasing. I'll start working on it soon. Let's work on it soon. Thank you.
Hello Towaco. Can I put this on YouTube? What did you think after listening today? Oxygen is really important. You really do feel like taking a deep breath. That's true, here in the venue. You often talk about eliminating ghost effects or something like that, don't you? That's right. So oxygen really is necessary, and I really felt that. I really felt that too. Thank you for looking so beautiful today.
Here comes the "Skin Expert" Ohno. That channel on YouTube. How was it? Hearing about Dior's science today. Eye concerns get deeper and deeper as you get older. I was thinking what could be done, and finally we have an answer. It feels like the Skin Expert also approves of this research. I'm excited to use it. Thank you.
Beauty magazine's editor-in-chief Nakano. Nice to meet you. How was today's research presentation? I thought it was a result that holds nothing but dreams. It feels like Reverse Aging might come true soon—the research results are all like that. Oxygen transport is, when you think about it, a fundamental thing, but when you realize it, the future might be right before our eyes. Looking at actual examples, even though there are people of various types, they're showing real results—including that, I thought it was a wonderful research result. Thank you.
Sugako, our annual tradition. Nice to meet you. You said "annual" but this is only the second time. No, I'm going to make this an annual tradition. How is it this year? It's amazing, right? I heard a bit beforehand this time. We were communicating by email. Of course. They told me about it, and mitochondria are amazing. Mitochondria really are amazing. This time, instead of forcing mitochondria to work, efficiently delivering oxygen is really a new approach. If you think about it from the mitochondria's perspective, I want to charge energy. Then you think, let me do this. Weren't the collagen findings pretty amazing this time? I was shocked too. So they said it decreases from age 25, and since I'm going to start decreasing next year, but I'm still looking forward to next year. Thank you.
Printed Makia editor-in-chief Kinoshita. Kinoshita, thank you as always. How was it this time? Oxygen transport was something we heard about last time too, kind of like that, but the real thing is it works on all cells, and the advantages of the cream that incorporated it, that they raised it above body temperature—with such a pleasant feel, it can be both this effective—that surprised and delighted me. Hearing about technology really does build expectations. It really does. And being able to actually try it here—that's Dior's unique strength, the alignment of sensibility and research is wonderful. Your readers at Makia really love that alignment of sensibility and research, don't they? I really do. Getting the benefits of research as you use it—that's really the best part. I honestly think Makia should follow suit. Well, thank you very much. Thank you.
So right away, really immediately after the conference ended, I'd like to have Patricia-sensei and Birbiri join us to dig deeper into the science. Nice to meet you.
First, this product, or the way of thinking, is from a beauty medical perspective. I think it comes from the idea that we cosmetic dermatologists have of collagen injection. Are people in France getting collagen injections fairly often? In Japan, it's kind of beauty medical versus skincare, but I think they should be done together. I'd like to hear your thoughts on that as well.
We can't perform beauty medical processes to protect collagen. It's not just skincare to maintain those results. We know that collagen is important. Because collagen is activated during the day and at night. We need to introduce protectors to protect collagen.
When it comes to Dior, I had the impression it was stem cell research, but why did you focus on collagen?
The averaging of the dermal-epidermal junction affects the collagen basal cells and the basic layer. So the collagen basal cells lead to the evolution of the dermal-epidermal junction. The decrease in skin surface movement of the dermal-epidermal junction is due to the decrease in the dermis and epidermis, exchanging oxygen and nutrients between the two layers. Another study showed the effect of collagen on aging, showing the effect on basal cells. Showing the effect of Type IV and Type VII collagen on basal cells.
Oxygen was the keyword, I think. The eye area really is a place where fatigue shows, so the oxygen carrier, which was the keyword of today's Dior Science, really becomes an important keyword too, right?
Next, I'd like to discuss keratinocytes with Shibata-sensei. What really surprised me was that of course keratinocytes are epidermal, so there are no blood vessels, so medically speaking, I think oxygen transport would be limited. The people in this venue were most surprised by that, so I found that really interesting. And by improving oxygen transport to keratinocytes, keratinocytes become activated. What was really interesting was that the older you are, the more improvement can be expected. That means I can improve better than younger people—I found that really interesting. How do you think about that, sensei?
Of course, I think your first question is very important. Why? It's a misconception. Sometimes the truth is, the farther you go from the blood, the lower the oxygen concentration becomes. Oxygen leaves the blood, and then the gradient decreases at distance. But actually, your question is very important. Because...
The question is, if it's true that oxygen distribution is suppressed at a distance, how can we investigate and measure the distribution of oxygen? I think about what we can do most effectively, and how to apply suppressive forces to those whose distribution is not suppressed. Therefore, in the final method of this product, I think about incorporating the method by which oxygen is properly delivered in the most optimal way, and promoting natural oxygen distribution.
Thank you for this very important question. Regarding the next question as well, of course everything is related to the issue of aging. If oxygen distribution doesn't decrease, this problem occurs. The effects of oxygen distribution and oxygen distribution impact are occurring significantly. Therefore, in the future, it is important for us to understand this process from many angles. When oxygen is incorporated in an optimal way for distribution, we can achieve great results in improving oxygen distribution effects.
I think that the foundation of improving aging is ultimately oxygen transport, so this time we combined it with collagen, but thinking about it carefully, it's not just that—the fact that we've gained oxygen as a major weapon to enhance cellular function means that Dior's science will progress even further in the future. I think this is a major weapon, but what do you think about that aspect?
Yes, thank you. Regarding epidermal restoration, the epidermis is the supporting layer of skin and brings firmness. Therefore, we also treated fibroblasts with this ROX treatment, and like other cells, fibroblasts need oxygen delivered to the right place in the mitochondria to make energy. This energy enables collagen production, which is necessary for SPD technology. We can target all levels of the skin and the different types of four cell types in the skin to rejuvenate the skin. The last skin cell we used is NK cells, natural killer cells. We don't often talk about them, but they have a very important role in detoxifying the dermis, especially senescent fibroblasts. We showed that their activity decreases with age, like all other cells. And with proper oxygen transport, their activity improves, allowing them to keep the dermis clean and detoxify it from senescent cells. This way, we have good collagen produced in good quantity and good firmness in the skin and dermis. This is what we're looking for in dermatology and oral science. Thank you very much. Thank you for being here. This year's scientific conference was truly touching, and last year was also truly moving.
