医師が解説！10年ぶりに承認！美白有効成分

皆さんこんにちは、内科皮膚科医の友利新です。2021年も美白の注目成分が続々と出てきていますよ。今回その中でも注目のものをピックアップしたいと思うんですが、皆さん美白の成分でいろいろあると思うんですけれども、以前ちょっと白斑の問題があったじゃないですか。皆さん記憶に新しいと思うんですけどもね。その白斑の問題があってから以降、美白のこの有効成分に対して承認がなかなかおりづらいということがあったんですね。美白の成分というのはもちろん秘伝の種では色々あるんですけれども、本当に厚生労働省がこれは美白有効成分ですということを承認して初めて美白有効成分として認められるんですが、実は2009年以降美白有効成分の承認が降りていないということがあったんですね。ただ2018年に約10年ぶりにポーラがですね、その美白有効成分というのを承認を下したんです。その成分の名前がデクスパンテノールというものになります。これは2019年に発売のホワイトショットのLXそしてMXというローションとミルクタイプのホワイトショットに入っているものになります。それがですね、実はこのデクスパンテノールの成分が入った美容液がなんとオルビスから発売になります。そしてそのお値段がホワイトショットのLX、MXは1万円超えだったんですが、今回発売になるオルビスは5000円、そして詰め替えだったら4500円という半額のお値段で買えるものになるんです。でその商品がこちらです。オルビスホワイトクリアエッセンスになります。すごくないですか。やっぱりオルビスってポーラオルビスグループなので関連会社ではあるんですね。なんですけれども、このホワイトショットは2019年なので2年前ですよね。2年前に発売になって、もうその時にはすごいベスコスも全部そうなめしたこのホワイトショットのLX、MXのキー成分であるデクスパンテノールがこちらのホワイトクリアエッセンスには配合になっていますし、キー成分にもなっています。さっきも話したんですけども、美白の有効成分が2009年以降本当に承認が降りなかったんですよ。なかなか難しかった。それを10年ぶりに有効性も認められたというだけでもすごくニュースになったんですけど、多分ですねこれから先美白の有効成分ってあと何年かはあの承認にならないと思います。なぜかっていうと、最近でやっぱり動物実験とかをしてはいけないという方向性になってきているじゃないですか。でもやっぱり美白有効成分って動物実験をなかなかしないで有効性が認められたりとか安全性を認められるということはなかなかないんですが、やっぱり全体的に企業さんというのが動物実験をしないという方向にもありますし、あとは先ほど言ったように白斑の問題とかがあってすごく承認が降りるのが難しくなっています。そのデクスパンテノールの時にはもちろん今はポーラさんもオルビスさんも動物実験してないと思うんですが、全部実験が終わって、白斑後の問題が起こる前に全部この承認の申請を出してたらしいんですね。でもそれでもそういう問題があって前に進まなかったんですけど、そこにどんどんとやっぱり新しい知見だったり安全性をしっかりと担保するような書類を出してやっと2018年に申請が降りて、2019年に商品化されたというものになります。このデクスパンテノールが承認されたのが2018年でしょ。やっぱり年経っても新しい効果成分というのは承認されていないので、もし万が一承認されるとしてももっともっと先になっていくんじゃないかなと思っています。でこのデクスパンテノールっていうのはどういう成分かというとですね、通常美白の有効成分というのはメラニンを作る細胞のメラノサイトに働きかけて、そのメラノサイトの活性を防御したり、あとはメラノサイトにメラニンを作ってくださいっていう指令をブロックしたりっていう、どちらかというとメラノサイトを中心にした考え方のものだったんですね。それを大きく変えたのがこのデクスパンテノールになります。どういうものかっていうと、紫外線が当たってメラノサイトがメラニン色素を作りますよね。そのメラニン色素っていうのは実は少量であれば正直皮膚のいろんなところにあったらわかんないんですが、それがだんだん塊になってくるとそれがシミとしてわかる。この塊をまずは粉砕しましょう。粉々にした後に、もともと皮膚っていうのはメラニンが含まれている細胞がターンオーバーで出ていくという機能がありますので、粉砕してあんまり目立たなくしたプラス、そのメラニンが入っている細胞もターンオーバーを促して出していきましょうという成分になっていくんですね。なのでどちらかというと、シミドンというものもそうですけれども、全体的な透明感を出してくれるっていうのがこのデクスパンテノールの成分になります。そのデクスパンテノールだけではなくてこのホワイトエッセンスの中にはですね、桃エキス、シーグラスエキス、ヤグルマエキスというような保湿成分もたっぷり入っています。なので保湿成分が角質層にあってそれで最初にパッと透明感が出て、使い続けるうちにデクスパンテノールの効果も発揮してきて透明感が出てくる。速攻性とあとはゆっくりと効いてくるということをどちらも叶えてくれるんじゃないかなと思います。もう一つですね面白いのがオルビスさんね、成分もそうなんですけど処方にもめちゃめちゃこだわっています。それがバリアラップ処方というものになるんですね。通常ラップっていうと膜を貼るじゃないですか。なので油分とかで膜を貼るっていうイメージなんですが、このバリアラップ処方っていうのは油分ではなくて、皮膚にはラメラ構造といって水分と油の膜が交互にできてるんですね。このラメラ構造になるように考えられた処方で、ラメラ構造を疑似的に作ってくれて、それによって内側の水分の蒸発を抑えるというもので、油で膜を貼るんじゃなくて皮膚の構造、ラメラ構造と同じような構造を取るっていう処方をしているっていうのがこの美容液のすごいところかなと思います。なので約10年ぶりに出た美容成分のデクスパンテノールもいきながら、そして皮膚のラメラ構造を模したような処方があって、そこに保湿成分もあるので、春でね肌が敏感になっているような方でもしっかりと保湿をしながら肌のバリア機能を上げながら、肌に透明感を出すというような美白有効成分も入っていますので、ホワイトショットはちょっと高くてお手が出せなかったなっていう方も5000円ですからちょっと手が届く値段になったかなと思いますし、なんとなく肌のくすみが気になっている方っていうのは本当に効果が実感できるんじゃないかなと思っております。いやーもうね、私ねこのオルビスのホワイトクリアエッセンスの発表会に行った時に、うわぁオルビスさん本当ですか大丈夫ですかと思いましたよ。だってその2019年に出たホワイトショットのものが入ってるってすごいどうなってるんだと思ったんですけど、そこはですねポーラオルビスグループの美白有効成分をいろんな多くの方に届けたいという思いが詰まっているのかなと思います。そしてね実は3月1日にホワイトショットのまた新カバンが出ます。そこはもちろん有効成分も入ってますけれどもそれだけじゃない、また新知見が入っていますので、次回の動画で詳しく深掘りしていきたいと思いますので、次回もぜひ楽しみにしていてください。いかがでしたか。この番組ではこのように美容や健康について皆さんにわかりやすくお話ししているチャンネルになりますので、よかったらチャンネル登録してください。そして光文社さんと一緒に配信しているシェアマガジン週刊ともり新田ではですね、ほぼ毎日新しい美容情報だったり美容商品の情報を発信しています。そして私が編集者を務めているということで、私自身が気になっているお店だったりとか美容賢者と呼ばれている一つの対談など、いろいろなコンテンツが満載なので、よかったら番組概要欄からチェックしてみてください。それではまた次の動画でお会いしましょう。さようなら。

Hello everyone, I'm Arata Tomori, an internal medicine and dermatologist doctor. In 2021, more and more notable whitening ingredients are emerging. This time, I'd like to pick out one that's particularly noteworthy among them. There are many whitening ingredients out there, but as you may remember, there was previously an issue with leukoderma (white patches). Since that leukoderma issue occurred, it became quite difficult for whitening active ingredients to receive approval. Of course, there are various whitening ingredients based on proprietary formulas, but an ingredient is only recognized as a true 'whitening active ingredient' once the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare officially approves it as such. In fact, no whitening active ingredient had been approved since 2009. However, in 2018, POLA received approval for a whitening active ingredient for the first time in about 10 years. The name of this ingredient is Dexpanthenol. This is the ingredient found in the White Shot LX and MX products (a lotion and a milk-type product) released in 2019. Now, a serum containing this same Dexpanthenol ingredient is being released by ORBIS. While the White Shot LX and MX cost over 10,000 yen, this new ORBIS product costs 5,000 yen, or 4,500 yen for the refill—about half the price. Here's the product: ORBIS White Clear Essence. Isn't this amazing? Since ORBIS is part of the POLA ORBIS Group, they are indeed affiliated companies. The White Shot was released in 2019, so two years ago, and at that time, it swept all the best cosmetics awards. The key ingredient of White Shot LX and MX, Dexpanthenol, is now included in this White Clear Essence as a key ingredient as well. As I mentioned earlier, whitening active ingredients truly had not been approved since 2009—it was quite difficult. So the fact that after 10 years, its efficacy was finally recognized, was huge news in itself. I think it will probably be several more years before another whitening active ingredient gets approved. Why? Because recently there's been a trend against conducting animal testing. Whitening active ingredients are difficult to have their efficacy or safety recognized without animal testing, but overall, companies are moving away from animal testing. Also, as I mentioned, the leukoderma issue has made approval much more difficult. Regarding Dexpanthenol, I believe neither POLA nor ORBIS conduct animal testing now, but apparently all the testing was completed and the approval application was submitted before the leukoderma issue arose. Still, due to that issue, progress was halted. But by continuously submitting new findings and documentation to firmly ensure safety, approval was finally granted in 2018, and the product was commercialized in 2019. Dexpanthenol was approved in 2018, right? Given that even after several years no new active whitening ingredient has been approved, I think if one is approved in the future, it will likely take even longer. Now, what kind of ingredient is Dexpanthenol? Typically, whitening active ingredients work by targeting melanocytes—the cells that produce melanin—either by suppressing melanocyte activity or blocking the signal instructing melanocytes to produce melanin. This melanocyte-centered approach was the conventional way of thinking. Dexpanthenol dramatically changes this approach. Here's how it works: when UV rays hit the skin, melanocytes produce melanin pigment. In small amounts, this melanin pigment is actually not noticeable in various parts of the skin, but as it gradually clumps together, it becomes visible as a spot (shimi). Dexpanthenol first breaks up this clump. After breaking it into smaller pieces, since skin naturally has a function where cells containing melanin are shed through turnover, this ingredient not only makes the melanin less noticeable by breaking it up but also promotes the turnover of melanin-containing cells to help expel them. So, similar to an ingredient called Shimidon, Dexpanthenol works to create an overall sense of transparency in the skin. In addition to Dexpanthenol, this White Essence also contains plenty of moisturizing ingredients such as peach extract, sea grass extract, and cornflower extract. These moisturizing ingredients work in the stratum corneum to give an immediate sense of transparency, and as you continue using it, Dexpanthenol's effects kick in to further enhance transparency over time. I think this achieves both immediate and gradual effects. Another interesting aspect is that ORBIS has put tremendous care into the formulation as well as the ingredients. This is called the 'Barrier Wrap Formula.' Normally, when you think of a 'wrap,' you imagine a film being applied, typically made of oils. However, this Barrier Wrap Formula isn't about oil forming a film—rather, it's designed to mimic the skin's lamellar structure, where water and oil layers alternate. This formulation is designed to replicate that lamellar structure, creating a pseudo-lamellar structure that helps prevent water from evaporating from within. Rather than applying an oil film, it adopts a structure similar to the skin's own lamellar structure—and I think that's what makes this serum so impressive. So, along with Dexpanthenol—the whitening ingredient approved for the first time in about 10 years—this product also has a formulation that mimics the skin's lamellar structure, plus moisturizing ingredients. This means that even those with sensitive skin during spring can use it to firmly moisturize while boosting the skin's barrier function, all while incorporating a whitening active ingredient that brings transparency to the skin. So for those who found White Shot a bit too expensive, this product at 5,000 yen might be more affordable, and I think those who are somewhat concerned about skin dullness will really be able to feel the effects. Honestly, when I attended the launch event for this ORBIS White Clear Essence, I was like, 'Whoa, ORBIS, are you serious? Is this okay?' I mean, the fact that it contains the same ingredient found in the 2019 White Shot product was just incredible to me. But I think this reflects the POLA ORBIS Group's desire to deliver whitening active ingredients to as many people as possible. And actually, on March 1st, a new version of White Shot will be released. Of course, it will contain the active ingredient, but not just that—it will also incorporate new findings, so I'd like to dive deeper into that in the next video. Please look forward to it!
