Hello everyone! I'm Arata Tomori. Today, I'm continuing with our very popular series "Which One Should You Use?" Since this series has been well-received, I'm picking up items based on your comments and DMs that you might find confusing because they're similar. Please watch till the end. So, let's start with the first one. Cosme Decorte Liposome Advanced Lipirase Serum and Lancôme Génifique Advanced N. I'm sure many of you are using both of these. They're considered classic cosmetics, but both are actually introductory serums. They're products you're told to use immediately after washing your face, so I get many questions about which one to use first and which one suits me better. Let me explain a bit. Cosme Decorte, as the name suggests, has been endorsed by Shohei Ohtani recently, and after those commercials, many men started using it too, which apparently boosted sales significantly. The key point here is liposomes. Liposomes, as you may have heard recently, have a multilayered structure like an onion. They have a lamellar structure where water and oil are layered like mille-feuille, similar to the skin's own structure. That's essentially what a liposome is. Originally, researchers were studying liposomes, thinking they were beneficial, but they couldn't prove that liposomes could actually reach the skin. Cosme Decorte was the only company that proved liposomes could reach the skin. So while liposomes are common now, Cosme Decorte was the first in Japan to incorporate multilayered liposomes. That makes them truly unique. So what makes them so great? First, as I mentioned, liposomes have essentially the same function as the skin's lamellar structure. Because you apply it immediately after washing your face, it rapidly recreates that lamellar structure. So if your barrier function has become compromised, applying this helps improve dryness and boost skin's radiance and moisture retention. This product is designed for people with dry to normal skin who want to enhance luminosity. While it also improves the absorption of subsequent skincare products, I believe its strongest ability is repairing the skin's structure. So if you want to rapidly deliver both water and oil to your skin and want to achieve radiance, this one is the best choice. In contrast, Génifique Advanced N came out around 2019, before the pandemic, and became a global bestseller. Now, skincare focused on skin microbiome is becoming common, but when Génifique came out, it actively promoted the idea that balancing your skin's resident bacteria improves barrier function. It was this product that made people aware of "beauty bacteria" that enhance barrier function. The representative ingredient is bifidus fermentation lysate. It's a fermented extract of Bifidobacterium, so it's actually a complex of multiple components. It contains amino acids, sugars, and acid-based compounds in combination, which I find very interesting. This ingredient itself acts as a switch that upgrades your skin's barrier function overall. As I mentioned earlier, your skin has a microbiome—resident bacteria on your skin. It's like feeding those bacteria. So it keeps the resident bacteria on our skin happy and ensures they properly protect our skin. That's what Génifique Advanced N does. Therefore, if your skin tends to be reactive, or if you experience fluctuations with your menstrual cycle or seasons, Génifique Advanced N is better. Since beauty bacteria decrease when acne-causing bacteria increase, I think it's good for those concerned about breakouts. So even though both are introductory serums, because their goals are different, you should be careful about which to choose. If you absolutely want to use both simultaneously, I'd apply Cosme Decorte first, then Génifique. However, I don't think you need to use similar serums, so for dry to normal skin where you want to address dryness and add radiance, this one is best. If you want to strengthen your skin overall, I'd go with Génifique. So try using them according to your needs. Next is an item I received via DM that made me think people would be confused since it's from the same manufacturer. This is Sofina IP Keratin Layer Treatment Foundation Lotion and Curel Deep Moisture Spray. Both are toners from Kao. Both contain ceramides. Kao originally developed pseudo-ceramides. There are human-type ceramides, plant-derived ones, and many others, but since people with dry skin benefit from more ceramide supplementation, Kao developed pseudo-ceramides to be affordable so you could use more. Both products contain this. However, the names are slightly different. Sofina IP lists it as Cetyl PG Hydroxyethyl Palmitamide. In contrast, Curel lists it as Hexadecyloxy PG Hydroxyethyl Hexadecanamide. Curel is a quasi-drug, while Sofina IP is not. Both contain the same pseudo-ceramide developed by Kao. The difference is that when included in quasi-drugs, it has one name, and when in regular skincare, it has another name. It's literally the same ceramide. So both have the same ceramide, one is cheaper, and they're both pseudo-ceramides. You might think the cheaper option is better, but let me explain which is actually better. First, Curel. It contains proper pseudo-ceramides, and the fact that it was made into a spray form—that is, making the ceramide smaller and sprayable—took considerable time and effort by Kao. If you want to use a spray, this is definitely the choice. But this product seems primarily focused on skin repair. That's why it's formulated as a spray so you don't have to touch your skin, and it contains allantoin, an ingredient that repairs wounds and reduces inflammation. So for more sensitive skin, to prevent scars and hyperpigmentation, I think this one is better. Also, if you hate stickiness, this is the one. Ceramides are formulated with vesicles to minimize stickiness. When you use a lot of ceramides, they naturally become sticky, and sensitive skin can experience itching or discomfort from that stickiness. This product minimizes that too. So for sensitive skin and those wanting repair, I'd recommend this one. In comparison, Sofina IP also contains the same pseudo-ceramide, but additionally contains another ingredient that maintains skin moisture. This is tuberose polysaccharide. It works by delivering and storing water within the skin. So while it includes ceramides, Sofina IP is stronger at pulling moisture into the stratum corneum. This is for those who want enhanced cosmetic moisturizing benefits. Your skin will appear more transparent. Not that it's whitening, but rather that the stratum corneum is filled with plenty of moisture. When water fills the stratum corneum, light transmits more easily, making the skin appear more transparent. So if you want transparency, want to address dryness, or want radiance, this is the choice. So you could use this one to reduce inflammation, then Sofina IP for moisture. They're both moisturizing, but if you want better cosmetic results, choose this one. If you're concerned about skin irritation, choose Curel. When using them, you might apply the spray all over first, then Sofina IP, which could work well too. Well, that's it for today's "Which One Should You Use?" series. This series is built on your comments, so if you have questions like "which one is better?" please leave them in the comments. Thank you for watching till the end today. See you in the next video. Goodbye!
