Hello everyone. I'm Arata Tomori, an internal medicine and dermatologist doctor. Today, as written in the thumbnail, did you know that you can achieve beautiful skin even with convenience store food? Some of you might vaguely think that convenience store meals are bad for your skin or bad for your health, right? That's a way outdated notion from long ago. Of course, convenience stores have all kinds of food products, but recently, various manufacturers and stores have really been putting a lot of effort into product development, releasing foods that are good for both your health and your skin, which you can easily buy. You can find them at any convenience store, right? So today I'll be teaching you what kind of convenience store meals to choose for various skin concerns. Especially since many of you might not be able to go out at night these days or eat dinner outside, please try purchasing ingredients from convenience stores that match your specific concerns. First, does anyone have concerns about dullness? Dullness occurs when the skin oxidizes or undergoes glycation, causing skin dullness. So the key point is to properly choose foods with high antioxidant properties at the convenience store. Speaking of extremely strong antioxidant properties, dark chocolate comes to mind. Recently, convenience stores have started selling high-cacao chocolate, and this high-cacao chocolate has very strong antioxidant properties that help resolve dullness. So when you feel a bit hungry, try buying high-cacao chocolate at the convenience store. Another option is frozen blueberries. Many convenience stores these days have a good selection of frozen foods, and among them, frozen blueberries have extremely strong antioxidant properties. Normally, when fruits are frozen or cut, their antioxidant power decreases, but with blueberries, it's said that freezing actually increases their antioxidant power compared to fresh ones. So if you're feeling like your skin looks dull lately or feeling a bit tired, please try buying frozen blueberries at the convenience store and eating them. Next, for those of you concerned about pores. Pore concerns can include both sagging pores and clogged pores, but the food that can actually address both is edamame (soybeans). Don't convenience stores sell edamame often these days? I personally love it and buy edamame at convenience stores frequently, and it actually holds potential benefits for both sagging pores and clogged pores. Edamame is a bean, so of course it's rich in protein. Protein becomes amino acids that are the building blocks of collagen and elastin, so getting enough protein helps prevent sagging. Also, since it's plant-based, you don't need to worry about cholesterol even if you eat a lot, which is another good point. Another point is that edamame is rich in vitamin B group. Vitamin B group can help control sebum production, so for those with excessive sebum secretion, it can help suppress it properly, making edamame extremely beneficial. Also, edamame actually contains collagen too. Of course, eating collagen doesn't immediately resolve sagging, but the collagen gets broken down in the body into amino acids, which eventually circulate throughout the body and reach the skin. So rather than taking questionable supplements, eating edamame properly is a great recommendation for pore care. Since edamame is sold at pretty much any convenience store, please be sure to choose and eat it. And finally, dryness. Since it's still cold and the weather can make your skin feel dry, those of you experiencing dry skin can improve this even with convenience store food. For such people, choose konjac and kombu (kelp) from the oden section. Konjac contains ceramide, the key moisturizing component, so consuming ceramide helps prevent skin dryness from the inside. Kombu, of course, is packed with minerals, and skin dryness isn't just about lack of water - a lack of minerals can also cause disruption in the stratum corneum. So kombu and konjac are the ultimate beauty foods for skin, and you should definitely grab these two whenever you find them. Another option is grilled salted mackerel. Miso-simmered mackerel is fine too, but recently convenience stores sell both grilled salted mackerel and miso-simmered mackerel, right? Miso-simmered mackerel contains some sweet components, so it has some sugar content, but with grilled salted mackerel, you can properly get mackerel's DHA and EPA, omega-3 oils that boost skin moisture. So for those with dry skin, this is definitely a food I'd like you to eat. When you spot grilled salted mackerel, konjac, and kombu, and think 'Oh, my skin is dry,' please be sure to get all three of these items. How about that? There really are various options at convenience stores, right? But then, how do you distinguish which foods are good? While these foods are good, how do you choose to avoid the bad ones? The key point is to choose foods that don't look overly processed at a glance. When food is processed, it often involves artificial chemical substances, and the added processing can significantly reduce the nutritional value of the food. So with foods sold at convenience stores these days, like I mentioned earlier - just edamame by itself, or just grilled salted mackerel by itself - you can visually tell these are single-ingredient items, like 'oh, this is made from mackerel' or 'this edamame is just boiled edamame.' Choosing items that aren't heavily processed like this is also a very important point. Among these, one thing I don't really want you to choose is when you look at the back of a package and it says 'vegetable oil/fat' - this tends to be an oil that easily causes inflammation in the body. For example, this type of oil is often found in cup soups. So rather than choosing cup soup, it's better to choose miso soup instead. And if you feel like you're not getting enough vegetables, cut vegetables are an option. Some people say that cut vegetables don't have vitamins or minerals, so there's no need to eat them, but that's completely wrong. Whether cut or not, they properly contain vitamins and minerals. When adding these to other foods, the key point is to avoid using the dressings sold in stores as much as possible. Store-bought dressings, even those sold at convenience stores nowadays, tend to have quite a lot of sugar content, and the oils used tend to be omega-6 type oils. Recently, convenience stores also sell olive oil and salt, so what I often do is: when I buy cut vegetables at a convenience store, since they come in a plastic bag, if I'm feeling lazy, I just add olive oil and salt directly into the bag and mix it all together right there. It might be a bit unrefined to eat straight from the bag like that, but I think it's a pretty good option. By making these kinds of small adjustments, you can properly choose foods with good nutrition and that are good for your body, even at convenience stores. So please remember this, and instead of feeling guilty about eating at convenience stores, I hope you can choose your ingredients while thinking 'I'm actually achieving beautiful skin through convenience store food.' How was that? This channel provides easy-to-understand information about beauty and health topics like this, so please subscribe if you enjoyed this. Well then, everyone, I'll see you in the next video. Goodbye.
