Today, I'd like to introduce you to the latest beauty serum equipped with world-shocking technology created from the latest anti-aging research. So if you're interested in aging concerns, of course, but I also want to talk about how it might be better to use it from an early age, so young people too should definitely watch until the end since aging will definitely come to everyone eventually. If you want beautiful skin, this video is a must-watch. So let me introduce which serum this is right away. It's Shiseido's Ultimune. It's a signature beauty serum of Shiseido, and I think many people have seen the red packaging in TV commercials and such. Do you know what kind of serum it is? Until the previous version, they talked about something like skin sleep beauty, saying that when you lack sleep, your skin becomes easier to fatigue, so it becomes the same as when you've had a good night's sleep. And before that, they talked about immune beauty, like balancing your skin's immune system to provide anti-aging care for your skin. For most people hearing this, it's not quite clear what's happening, but somehow it seems to be selling well in the world, and I think many people wondered what kind of serum Ultimune really is. Originally, Ultimune conducts detailed research on skin immune cells. Shiseido has various types of research, for example, like Haku conducts research on melanin, or Future Solution and Idermina, which research blood vessels and liver cells. Ultimune, on the other hand, delves very deeply into skin immunity. You might be wondering what beauty has to do with immunity. Our immunity has two functions: one that eliminates unwanted things that come along, and if it only eliminated things, inflammation would occur continuously, so there's also immunity that suppresses it. Accelerator and brake, right? I think I mentioned this when we discussed gut health as well. This kind of function exists in the skin itself too. There's immunity that advances skin inflammation and protects against external stimuli, and something that says, okay, that's enough now, let's suppress it. What's doing this are Langerhans cells and NK cells, things like that. Aggressive Langerhans cells and suppressive Langerhans cells, continuously doing that. This time, they've gone beyond that, and it turns out that the immune cells themselves are involved in the very root of aging. This isn't just cosmetics, but this research was even published in The Cell, a famous academic journal in medicine, and as a dermatologist, I was truly amazed, something like that. Have you heard of senescent cells? Senescent cells are born in the skin, and senescent cells cause neighboring cells to also age, and that's how the entire skin becomes aged, right? I think everyone's definitely heard that recently. When you hear that, you might think that senescent cells would be more abundant in older people and less in younger people, but apparently that's not the case. Some young people have many senescent cells, and some older people have fewer senescent cells. So when researching what causes the difference and why senescent cells are born, when senescent cells are created, our immune cells discover that it's something bad for the body and work to eliminate it. You might think it's like natural killer cells that eliminate things, but it's completely different. It turns out to be memory T cells. Some of you might be hearing this for the first time, but there are various T cells, like helper T cells that assist, or memory T cells, which remember when this foreign substance came once. It turned out that memory T cells work like a sniper, like Golgo 13, precisely eliminating only senescent cells. The key point is that it eliminates only senescent cells, because immunity causes inflammation and eliminates unwanted things, which is why we need a mechanism to suppress that inflammation. You only need to eliminate the foreign substance, but the surrounding cells also become inflamed, and you eliminate the foreign substance, so you have to suppress that inflammation. Some cells can become collateral damage. But memory T cells, like Golgo 13 I mentioned earlier, target and precisely eliminate only senescent cells, so they have no impact on other cells whatsoever. This is also an important point. Actually, our bodies carry bacteria together, and we also coexist with viruses. Viruses are actually far more numerous than cells. Our cells number about 30 trillion, right? In comparison, resident bacteria, as they're called, are said to number about 100 trillion. You might think that's more than three times the cells, but viruses are said to number 380 trillion. Not just viruses that have negative effects, but viruses we coexist with are also abundant. One of them is called cytomegalovirus. Cytomegalovirus exists in our cells, and when the cells are normal, it stays inside the cells. When aging occurs, the cytomegalovirus comes out, apparently. This actually seems to be a sign of senescent cells. When the cytomegalovirus comes out, that means it's a senescent cell, and memory T cells eliminate only the senescent cells. Isn't that amazing? Our human bodies are incredibly well-designed. And this time, Shiseido, a cosmetics company, discovered this entire mechanism. Isn't that amazing? I got to talk with the research team, and apparently there was a dermatologist who was the team leader. The dermatologist was saying, no, no, no, no, that doesn't happen. But every time they conducted the experiment, they got the same result, so it became a proper paper, and they received a lot of contact from medical professionals saying, this might be used in places beyond cosmetics. I really think it's incredibly amazing. So how do you incorporate this into cosmetics? Well, it's important to keep memory T cells energized, right? Because memory T cells don't just exist in the skin, they wander around in the body too. So these memory T cells need to be present in the skin to attack the skin's senescent cells, so you need to attract memory T cells to the skin. There's also a substance that plays this role: CXCL9, which is secreted by the epidermis. It attracts memory T cells to the skin so they can precisely eliminate senescent cells. These senescent cells cause damage in the skin by releasing SASPs, senescence-associated secretory phenotypes, which damage fibroblasts, making it impossible to produce collagen and elastin, causing those to decline. So memory T cells need to be present in the skin. And how do you make these memory T cells secrete CXCL9 that activates them? Of course, Shiseido found this too, and they discovered that camellia from Gotokumura, fermented with yellow koji, the Camellia ferment extract, does this. This is the latest Ultimune. Since it also properly handles immunity in the epidermis, insights about epidermal turnover are also included in this, and since it removes senescent cells at the root level, it enables an all-encompassing approach. Improvement in turnover, radiance, it's all-mighty, which is what this Ultimune is. I'm just amazed that such cutting-edge insights are incorporated. By eliminating senescent cells, it slows down aging, right? So it's like slow aging. Of course, humans definitely age no matter what, but it slows down. Improvement in turnover, wrinkles, firmness, and spots, right? So I think the image is that a serum that makes these things less likely to develop. Just having a world-first discovery incorporated gets me excited, but it slows down aging. If we start slowing it down from your twenties, that's great in itself, and I'm turning 48 soon, but for someone like me, slowing down is definitely better too.
