Today, two affordable face washes have come out that made me think "wow, this technology is amazing," so I wanted to share them with you quickly, which is why I'm filming this video. "Is there a good face wash out there? But recently good face washes have gotten expensive, so isn't there one that's gentle on both my wallet and my skin, and that washes away my skin concerns?" If you're someone searching for that, please watch until the end. When it comes to face washes, I think they fall into two categories. One is for people who want something gentle on the skin but that still cleans dirt properly, addressing dryness since washing your face can dry out your skin. The other is for people who don't really feel dryness but want to thoroughly eliminate pore grime. I think these are the two categories. Affordable face washes addressing each of these concerns have been released. Here they are: one is FANCL Skin Conditioning Wash, and the other is ONE BY KOSÉ Pore Clear Scrub Wash. If you thought "oh!" when you saw these, that's impressive, because both brands have cleansing oils in the same series. This one is the black cleansing oil that I also love. And FANCL, of course, has the Mild Cleansing Oil that you can buy anywhere - convenience stores, drugstores, you name it. I think precisely because both have great cleansing oils, they wanted to create matching great face washes. When it comes to FANCL, they really cater to people with sensitive or dry skin, right? So this is a face wash that leaves a water film on the skin. And the Pore Clear Scrub Wash is a face wash that thoroughly polishes deep into the pores. I'd like you to choose based on your own skin concerns and what kind of face wash you're looking for. Let me quickly explain what FANCL's Skin Conditioning Wash is about. Face washing is the skincare step with the highest risk, so when washing, you want to wash away sebum like free fatty acids that can cause skin inflammation, but you want to leave behind the important sebum that forms your skin's barrier function. Moisturizing components can escape, so up until now the approach has been to use a gentle cleanser while trying to keep moisturizing components in place but washing away dirt and unnecessary sebum. To achieve this, one method was using gentle cleansing agents, and another was incorporating adsorptive substances like hyaluronic acid to form a film, or adding oil-based ingredients to create an oil-based film on the skin - this was the conventional wisdom. But FANCL didn't go that route. They succeeded in developing a cleansing agent that makes water your ally, after more than four years of development. What do they make an ally? It's an amino acid-based cleansing agent called oleoyl sarcosine type, but it's a special cleansing agent that, despite being a cleanser, forms a water film when it comes into contact with water. So what happens to the dirt? The dirt gets caught up in the foam, and since the cleansing agent forms a water film, the dirt washes away along with the foam, but this water film remains on the skin as is. Isn't that interesting? This is probably FANCL's technology - I thought cleansing agents were only for washing away dirt, but the fact that it creates a film with water and remains like skincare is incredible. This water forms a thick moisture-retaining film, and it's designed to properly adhere to the skin. So the cleansing agent turns into something like a gummy texture when it touches water, and the moisture-retaining film adheres to the skin. The dirt exits along with the foam, so dirt is removed, but moisture properly remains. Isn't that amazing? And that's not all. There's also inositol, which helps regulate the lamellar structure, so barrier function is also maintained. But that's still not all. Among the sebum I mentioned earlier, there's a type you don't want to remain called free fatty acids. This isn't about having more or less sebum - it's about quality, so even people with dry skin don't have zero sebum. FANCL has consistently said that a high proportion of free fatty acids causes skin problems. To suppress this, they've also developed a lotion called Toiro, but they've also included a cleansing agent called polyglyceryl-10 laurate that selectively washes away free fatty acids. So it contains a cleansing agent that creates a gummy-like film in place of water, plus a cleansing agent that selectively washes away free fatty acids that easily cause skin troubles, plus inositol that regulates the lamellar structure. For people who wonder "did I do skincare? Did I apply lotion?" after washing - this caters not only to people with dry skin but also to people with "inner dry" skin, where some areas are shiny but other areas are dry. I think it's a wonderful face wash. Next, here's the savior for people who experience dryness from sebum removal but are still concerned about pores. People concerned about pores tend to have thickened stratum corneum and accumulated sebum inside the pores, so scrubs are somewhat necessary. However, if the scrub is the abrasive type, it can create tiny scratches on the skin, so recently there are more soft, agar-like textures instead of gritty salt-like ones. But even with these, dryness can occur after scrubbing. For people who want to thoroughly clean their pores and do exfoliation care, but end up with parched skin, the Pore Clear Scrub Wash is perfect. Inside the pores, similar to the black cleansing oil I adore, there's an oil that dissolves pore plugs through cleansing action, and to scoop out the plugs dissolved by that oil, there are three types of adsorbing clay plus charcoal. So the charcoal adsorbs, and the clay adsorbs the oil that dissolved the plugs. This means it adsorbs the dirt inside the pores, plus it contains a special scrub. I think this is an industry first. It's a konjac-based ingredient called glucomannan, but that alone isn't an industry first at all. What is an industry first is that the glucomannan scrub is solidified with a moisturizing film. Since glucomannan becomes a moisturizing scrub, when the stratum corneum is washed away, the moisturizing components separate from the glucomannan and form a moisturizing film. Because this is very fine, it properly delivers moisturizing components deep into the pores as well. So while the three types of clay and charcoal remove dirt from inside the pores, the foam is incredibly fine. Micro-foam penetrates deep into the pores and thoroughly washes away dirt, while exfoliation care is handled by the moisture-wrapped moisturizing scrub I mentioned, and after rinsing, moisture is properly retained. For the approach using a moisturizing film, that's this one (FANCL), but for reducing shininess while doing pore care, yet thoroughly polishing deep into the pores, that's this one (ONE BY KOSÉ). So for people who are concerned about pores and want gentle exfoliation care but don't want dryness, yet still want pore care, I think this one is definitely the choice. By the way, FANCL's Skin Conditioning Wash lasts about 30 days and costs 1,595 yen. The ONE BY KOSÉ one has a bit more volume - it's 130g, so one bottle provides about 100 uses. If you use it twice a day, morning and night, that works out to about 50 days' worth, priced at 1,980 yen including tax. I know there are plenty of face washes under 1,000 yen, but I think it's truly wonderful that both of these have incorporated this level of technology while staying in the 1,000 yen range. Nowadays, face washes costing 5,000, 6,000, or even as much as 10,000 yen are almost commonplace in the beauty industry - though I might get scolded for saying that - but the fact that such cutting-edge technology is packed into products in the 1,000 yen range is truly wonderful.
